Larsen Attacks Koster For Not Being As Bad As Larsen

In attacking Sarah Palin's endorsment of challenger John Koster (R), incumbent WA-2 Congressman Rick Larsen (D) said, "A Palin endorsement means John Koster is opening his campaign war chest to a potential landslide of out-of-state contributions; contributions that will fund his campaign to eliminate the help seniors are getting to pay for prescription drugs, privatize Social Security, and protect the lax regulations that led to the BP oil spill." (emphasis added)

Those sure sound like awful things, even if his misrepresentations of Koster's campaign were true. But as Jerry Cornfield at The Herald points out, 65 percent of Larsen's contributions come from PACs, most of which are out of state, and has received several thousand from oil companies. Only three percent of Koster's money has come from PACs (in fact, Koster's raised more money from individual contributions than Larsen, since his announcement in January), and of that PAC money, none of it is associated with the oil industry.

I guess Larsen is just trying to use fiery rhetoric to prevent Koster from becoming more like Larsen himself.

Larsen also accused Palin of doing something wrong by using the extremely common "target" rhetoric regarding political races: "She even uses crosshairs in her literature, upping the rhetoric and literally taking aim."

Wow! She EVEN used CROSSHAIRS! LITERALLY taking aim! Shocking, especially since on Larsen's campaign web site, he links to a Seattle P-I article titled "Larsen: Big turnout for House target," without implying there's anything wrong with the former newspaper's use of the word.

I demand that Rick Larsen condemn the Seattle P-I for upping the rhetoric with its use of a word that has been commonly used in political races since before anyone of us was born! And then I demand that Rick Larsen condemn himself for putting such vile rhetoric on his campaign home page. Despicable.

1. Maybe Rick is concerned about the election. He should be.

2. He's a Democrat - it's do as I say, not as I do.

3. It's Koster's turn for rebuttal. He would do well to read this blog.

5. So, what is Mr.Koster's take on Sarah Palin's endorsement of Clint Didier? Does he relish the prospect of serving in Congress with Sen. Didier?

6. tensor: what is Mr.Koster's take on Sarah Palin's endorsement of Clint Didier?

None, as far as I know. Why should he have a "take"? And what does that have to do with my post?

Typical leftist drone, tensor. You try to change the subject, every time, when your guy is wrong. Of course, you're the jerk who said that a completely innocent victim of assault and battery is to blame for being attacked, and you said so ONLY BECAUSE the criminal was a leftist.

You're a terrible person, tensor.

7. I have known John Koster for over 20 years. In the legislature he represented all of his district. On the County Council he has represented all of his county.

Larson, on the other hand represents only the Obama leftist view of "we know whats best for you" mentality. Larson is not part of the solution-he is part of the problem.

John Koster can change that mentality--with or without Palin's endorsement. I, for one, am glad John did not get Obama's endorsement!!!

9. I'm hoping this becomes a race. Larsen, in the past, has just been quiet and been reelected that way. For him to go on the offensive is telling to me.

Perhaps my planned letter to the editor comparing the two candidates from before and now will become more appropos.

11. Rick Larsen has always had the huge creep factor. BUT that only applies to R's not D's. Since in office has done nothing to support liberty and the awful analogy of justifying ending health care at the town hall last year was a great insight into the total package. His soul is rotted out to fear of man; you can't possibly make your choices for liberty and he can't say no to entitlement that unions and various groups demands therefore he takes from us and gives to them.
A volatile combination hidden behind the falsehood of a leader.
No more folks...we need to end this dangerous combination. Is it in you? Do you get excited when you get a government check? Are you thrilled about TARP? Do you get excited when you realize Obama will let you go to the doctor for free? But where have those things ever worked out long term......Cuba, China, N. Korea, Britain, Greece. If you get excited that the guy across the street is selling drugs, wrecking the rental and the neighborhood is going to have a world of hurt coming down on him especially after he threatens to kill you then that is liberty. And you know what that guy should be excited too...he no longer has to figure out what tv camera to whine to to get even with the landlord and then be strung out on drugs and be thankful he was not just hauled out and shot but gets another chance after a just trial in a civil court and some time in a free jail. Then he can get up and get a job and get on with his life.
Can you believe Rick Larsen supports the thinking of the dealer? Sure he has done nothing to end people's dependence on government and bring that responsibility on themselves. Right there two opposite visions of government....equal opportunities or equal outcomes....one is completely to death (outcomes) the other to life (opportunities).
