1. If I thought everyone living in my home was safely abed and I heard the front door opening in the wee hours, I'd answer the door with a pistol in hand, too. Not pointing, but down at the side ready for immediate action if warranted.
It's not going to do you much good locked in a gun safe or even in the night table drawer if someone with hostile intent is entering.
Duh!
2. Agreed. Also as for the hands-free cell phone ban, That's totally unnecessary too. I have a headset for my cell phone. I'm also a licensed pilot. Pilots talk on headsets all the time while flying a plane. Specially during the takeoff and landing phase when concentration is most important. As long as both hands any your eyes are free to scan, talking on a cell phone is indistinguishable from talking to a passenger sitting in the right seat.
Now dialing out shouldn't be done while driving as you need to see and concentrate on your cell phone screen but if that's done while sitting at a red light or a parking lot before starting off there should be no trouble.
3. rbw, you surprise me. I understood that pilots looked down one number push at a time.
4. If you're talking about frequency changes, those are normally done far enough out that there's nothing nearby to hit.
