A Tribute To Kirby WIlbur
Please post your favorite memories of The Kirby Wilbur Show or of Kirby himself in the comments section below. If I get a decent amount I'll have them printed and bound into a book to give to Kirby. He's been a public figure for 16 years (and will continue to be I'm sure!) so there should be plenty of stories. Feel free to write as much as you want but please, POST ONLY TRIBUTES OR FOND MEMORIES (not bad memories). If you want to post commentary on the situation please do so in the below post.
To start it off, I'll always remember, many years back, when Kirby read A Christmas Carol in it's entirety on Christmas morning.
David Boze has a nice post over on his blog as well. You know Kirby must be something great when even the competition is singing his praises. (Although David is a class act too so I'd expect no less.)

1. Guess it would have to be the organization and drummed up reception he had for Mrs Clinton. As I recall it was so effective that she didn't want anything to do with Seattle. Even being a Hillary fan I thought that was tastefully done.
I remember mostly the days of Kirby and John Carlson and how the dealt with local politics.
Kirby, although somewhat weak at the technicalities of being a talk show host (i.e. slurring words and sentences, etc) was the most gracious and respectful human being on the radio. He treated all fairly...sometimes in a teasingly fashion but I thought fairly. And yes one got the feeling that Kirby was always talking to you, not at you. I wish you the best, Kirby - you are obviously a fine human being and a good representative of what's fair and equitable in this Country. You're a fine American! :)
2. Kirby, I'm going to miss you. Except for you I had pretty much given up on talk radio. I have listened to you since you started doing the morning show on KVI and counted on your insights to keep me up to date in the world.
I hope leaving the show was your choice and not KVI's - I can't imagine that it would have been their choice.
I will miss you friend and best of luck to you and Trina and your boys.
God bless,
Marylin Winkenweder
3. It is a shame to see a local conservative show go by the wayside. Sure, it was replaced by national shows, but now we will have even fewer stories about what the local libs are doing to the people of this area.
His daily voice will be missed.
4. I still remember when he started his radio career on a late-night slot that ended at midnight on KVI. I listened regularly. Kirby is a great guy, and I hope he stays involved locally, and that we still hear him sub for Sean Hannity on a regular basis.
5. My most recent meeting with Kirby was just before last Christmas at the Federal Way Walmart. He was standing in the freezing rain with some Marines encouraging people to donate to the toys for tots program. I bought a toy or two for the cart and had a nice chat with Kirby afterwards.
That's the great thing about Kirby - he put his money where his mouth was when it came to charitable activities. And he is one of the most sincere, humble people I have had the pleasure of meeting.
Best of luck to you, Kirby.
6. I'll miss hearing Kirby and have listened to him frequently since he became permanent at KVI. He had keen sense of local politics, and although I did not always agree with his take on National politics, he had integrity and was good guy to know, something only a few talk show hosts have today.
I wish Kirby well and believe he will successfully land on his feet again fairly soon, whether it be in radio or politics...
7. I started listening to Kirby Wilbur when he was broadcasting at night and listened whenever I could. I still remember the night time discussions about government takeover of healthcare - Hillarycare at that time! Since he moved to the morning slot, I've listened to him almost every weekday morning. It was one of the few places we could get local news and issues. The entire staff of the show sounded like people who are my neighbors, not like people who are somehow better than me. He uses thought-provoking, common sense arguments, rather than knee-jerk conservative dogma. I attended the Hillarycare rally in downtown Seattle - my very first "demonstration"! It was a surprisingly fun event! Everyone was talking, laughing and having a great time - no anger! We were just a group of friends meeting for the first time. There was only one person who shouted anything approaching obscenity and he was quickly shushed by those around him. I was fortunate enough to be standing at the barricade and got to see how the SPD reacted in such a positive way to our crowd and our message. They quickly became aware that this was a peaceful crowd and that their job that day would be easy. They were the ones who quietly let some of "our" people in through the barricade when it was obvious that the pro-Hillarycare people could not fill up their allotted space. The experience encouraged me to attend other rallies when I've had the time. When we had other local talk shows, the best and most fun election coverage was listening to Kirby, John Carlson and Michael Medved cover the election night returns. They showed that not all conservatives think alike! Because of the work by the Kirby Wilbur Show and Kiel Mortgage, I was able to sign up as a bone marrow donor. If they hadn't started at 6AM, the opportunity would not have fit in my schedule! He's a man who puts his money where his mouth is and sets an example of charitable giving for us all. I feel like Kirby is a friend, even though I have never met him. His show will be sorely missed, but I expect we have not seen the last of Kirby Wilbur!
All the best to you, my friend.
8. I started listening to Kirby Wilbur when I was a young teenager, just looking for something to listen to on the radio at night. I used to listen to NPR, where they had a program reading books aloud, but when they started reading a book that didn't interest me, I went on the hunt for something else. I found Kirby. I can't remember anything specific about those nights, other than I listened and loved it. I'd tune in every night, and he was my gateway into the world of conservative thinking.
Neither of my parents were particularly political, so I was a bit of a blank slate, other than the liberalism I encountered at my public school. He got me listening to Rush, too! Kirby would mention him here and there, but I didn't think much of it because it was on during the day when I was in class.
Then, I remember my 9th grade Social Studies teacher making snide comments about Rush, and so I figured, this Rush guy has to be good! Kirby is a fan, and my teachers hate him! And so began my summer tradition of Kirby and Rush on KVI in the mornings.
Times have changed since then -- Kirby moving to mornings, Rush moving to KTTH, and on and on. Kirby is truly a northwest institution, for whom I have great affection and appreciation. I credit him with starting me on the road to common sense conservatism -- a true Reagan conservatism -- which I might have otherwise never done. How easily I could have just ingested and digested the easy liberalism of my teachers, and later, my college professors.
I'm glad I found you on the radio that night, Mr. Wilbur.
9. I got a chance to talk to Kirby last year at the Lewis County Republican Lincoln Day Dinner. He is a very dedicated conservative, and committed to this country. His firing at KVI is a travesty. I wonder if this may be the start of controlling talk radio by the Obama administration?
10. While I was King County Republican Chairman, I had the privilege of working with Kirby as 44th District Chairman. As with all things, he did a terrfic job. Trina and he are fine Christian people and a wonderful example to us all. He will be sorely missed but I am sure Kirby will be back!He is a true patriot!
11. I've been a dedicated listener since moving here in 1994. Each morning I wake up to the 5:00 opening and arise to Kirby's playing of the National Anthem. There are so many wonderful memories, and I hope and pray, we are fortunate enough to share his wisdom again on a regular basis.
My favorite time was the day after 9/11 listening to Kirby explain how we've become the target and his perception of what we need to do.
For every major event Kirby has been there -- to take us through the processes of grieving, accepting, losing & winning elections, learning and givin us the lession in U.S. History that we should have been exposed to early on.
My first time meeting Kirby was at the Rush Limbaugh event in Puyallup. What an honor! And now I have the priviledge of calling Kirby a friend.
Kirby...I adore you and thank you for all you have given! You're the best!
12. I met Kirby Wilbur at the Tacoma Dome at an event which I can't really remember right now, but I approached him about getting KVI support for blood drives in Pierce County, since I worked for the blood bank. He was so gracious, and was as good as his word. He promoted one of our blood drive on air and even sent one of his producers down to the drive, and she actually helped recruit donors {was quite good at it}. It turned out to be a tremendously successful drive because Kirby cared enough to get behind it. He cares about his community and he keeps his word. I'll miss listening to him.
13. Where will we get our book recommendations? How will we know when there is a rally? Will we be able to hear interviews with local candidates at election time? What about the calls for helping good charitable causes?
Kirby, you are such a vital voice in our community, for all the important awareness you bring to our ears every morning, as well as articulating conservatism and promoting civic participation. We will miss you greatly and hope to see you or hear you again soon. Wishing you and your family all the best.
14. My fondest memory happened last year. I was able to arrange to have my youngest son's Cub Scout den stop by the station during his show for a visit. The boys had a great time touring the studio, recording the Pledge of Allegiance (sadly, the recording of it ended up being no good), talking with Kirby and Carlene on the air, and (of course!) sharing the Top Pot doughnuts that I brought for "the good of the order" . Kirby, Carlene, and the staff couldn't have been more gracious.
15. Two memories of Kirby stand out. One was the first time I heard of him which was the horrible "witchcraft" GOP Convention in Yakima in the early 90s. Kirby was one of the few sane people present and was part of a group which tried to present a minority platform. He established his true conservative credentials at that convention.
Two is that I woke up on 9/11 hearing Kirby and Carlene saying that we had been attacked! It was good to get my first bits of information from a reliable source.
God bless Kirby and his family. I'm certain he'll be moving on to something better and greater!
16. Kirby,
You were my constant companion in the mornings during my 90 minute drive into work for years. Thanks for your wonderful radio show. I last saw Kirby at the TeaParty Express on October 30th at the Puyallup fairgrounds.
17. Seattle mornings will be a little slower without Kirby. I left Seattle 4 years ago and moved back to Los Angeles in search of work after being laid off at Boeing. After I found work again I listened to Kirby at work online for the first couple of hours before anyone came in. I am coming up to Seattle to visit my relatives at Christmas and I know they will miss him also. I can't believe this was thru any action of his own. By the way, I listen to Brian Suits who use to be at KVI on the way home on KFI in Los Angeles. Brian, John and now Kirby are gone. Sad.
18. For me, the highlight of my week was Kirby's 'Hero of the Week' every Wednesday. He seemed to delight in presenting military heroes of all services. I'll fondly remember these past 16 years and sincerely hope he returns soon to a Seattle area broadcaster.
19. Kirby has been a regular in our household each morning as we ready for work and gulp down that cup of coffee. He has been a real gentleman on the air and he brought us a great blend of local and national politics. We hope his time off air will be short. God Bless you Kirby and thank you from two people whose lives you have greatly enriched.
20. KIrby, you are like a trusted friend who just tells it like it is but doesn't throw it your face. I have learned so much and been so inspired by your knowledge and care of all people. You will be, already are, greatly, missed. No one can take your place. I will miss the way you kept me informed, championed worthy causes and rallied the people together, the way you celebrated the military and reminded us all that we live in a great country filled with amazing people and wonderful opportunities. Thank you Kirby for your positive approach to life, God bless you.
21. I've met Kirby several times over the past 16 years at various KVI or Kirby functions. The time that sticks out in my mind in particular was a book signing he was doing in Port Orchard. He had recently switched to the morning slot. I had been listening to him at the begining of my night shift for several years. Now I was listening on the drive home and then had the radio on for a half hour or so to goto sleep.
Well after waiting in line, I stepped up and put my foot in my mouth by saying "I go to bed with you every morning." Not exactly right for one man to say to another, but he got the jist of what I meant.
22. Kirby, in my early years of political awareness, (1995) you taught me everything I needed to know.
I can't wait to follow you to your next endeavor.
You were the only reason I ever tuned into KVI...they are off my radio forever!
Wishing you all God's best!
23. I remember a charity fund raiser (or similar) and Kirby and others were at the curb in front of the studios collecting donations. Listening on the way into Seattle, I stopped and picked up something for the group at the curb. That was the only time I had a meeting with Kirby, but I remember it to this day. Maybe Kirby remembers the box of Krispy Kreme donuts!
Best wishes to you Kirby and to your family.
Steve
24. I remember meeting Kirby at the local Quisnos here in Bonney Lake Iwent there with my son Andrew and he got to meet Kirby in person.I think that helped my son to stay better informed politicaly.I also mett him at the Tea Party Rally on Oct. 30th as well.Kirby we miss you and send best wishes to you and your family.
25. I have been a Kirby fan since the 2000 election, but the thing I admired most about him was his dedication to local causes. Whether he was doing his morning show from a cafe that was about to be torn down, collecting for Toys for Tots or Operation Support Our Troops rally, visiting a wounded soldier or mentoring kids, he always had time to help those in need. He was a great radio host, but more importantly he is a good Christian, and a terrific human being. God bless and good luck, Kirby!
26. Kirby, I have so enjoyed listening to you for the last 15 years. You have entertained me, challenged my thinking, and kept me informed. I respect you and trust you to be honest with your audience. You are a straight shooter and yet remain respectful. I "met" you at a book signing of your book - which I keep on my shelf. I only called in once, but I appreciated how you put me at ease. I don't know what I will listen to in the morning anymore. I will miss the Star Spangled Banner intro, your Wednesday Hero of the Week, your book reviews, your humor, your insight, and YOU! Thank you for being there on the radio for us and I hope to hear you soon again. God bless you.
27. I will miss Kirby's insite, is wisdom, guidence, humor, patriatizm. His tribute to America @ 5am woke me up every day.His links with EFF,Fox News people,Military(Vets¤tly serving)Conservative voices all over, and all the VIPS he would invite on his show weekly. His tribute via the DOD every Wednesday.I'll miss hearing my favorite callers like Clinton(I have a crush)&John from Tacoma. He kept us updated on local stories the rest of the media ignored.I'm just lost in the mornings now.KVI was not losing ratings in the am.....losing them to whom????Pull your head out GM of KVI.I'm hoping all the sponsers Kirby personnally recommended drop from KVI.(Kiel Mortgage,ANderson Roofing,Niovita,The General,Zero Rez,King&Maciovec)Marsha/Bothell-X KVI Listener
28. I will miss Kirby's local perspective on politics and his impromptu history lessons. I just about always learned something about history by listening to his show. I attended the 2008 State Republican Convention, which Kirby chaired. I remember smiling as the McCain supporters were filing off the floor at the end and Kirby was firmly and (mostly) politely telling one of the more obnoxious Paul supporters (that had been hogging the mic all weekend) to "shut up" so he could get in a word in edgewise. All the best, Kirby, and I hope some other radio station in town picks you up. I will listen!
29. I remember the night back in the early 90s when Kirby first subbed for Mike Segal during his evening show on KVI and how my co-workers and I couldn't stop talking about him the next day at work. But probably my most enduring memory would have to be the evening of the 9/11 bombings when Kirby along with John Carlson and Michael Medved gathered to talk of the day's events. It may sound corny but it truly was a comfort to me back then to hear their voices after such a day.
30. I will miss getting
The Star Spangled Banner at 0507 hours. Normally I consider such stuff as schmaltzy but for some reason it never got old. Even though I'm an atheist I am praying that he is picked up by KTTH.
My favorite Kirby moment was when he scored an interview with Brit historian Paul Johnson, author of the great History of the American People. I bought the book and read it after hearing the interview, and am right now in the process of rereading it.
31. We went through 9-11 together. I was listening to Kirby's show that early, fateful morning when the news broke, including hearing a live eyewitness describe the 2nd tower getting hit. I will never, ever forget the experience.
I loved it whenever Kirby reviewed American history (He used to play a little game he called 'This day in history').
I will always look up to Kirby as a decent American and good ambassador of conservatism.
32. 27 & 29 sum up my views--Best to you, Kirby--You'll find another venue AND w/ supporters like many of us out here. I never understood the abrupt "off the air" thing with radio. Like disappearing in the night to a goulag. A goodbye chance would help listeners. Anyway, people like Kirby always land on their feet & do well. Thanks for many interesting listening hours and the local radio touch, Kirby! God Bless.
33. It's not fair. Kirby was a good, decent man who deserves better. Hopefully he will hook up with a local radio station soon.
34. Kirby, if you move back to Virginia, We're movin back to Virginia! You were the last hope for trying to make something out of this cess hole they call a state! If you go politics I want to be involved in the campaign!
I still have your pic on my phone from the taxday Olympia Tea Party.
35. I need to be up early for work. The very best way to wake up is to hear "The Star Spangled Banner". Of course you MUST stand whe you hear it, so that would get me out of bed. I am always impressed by Kirby's very active involvement in the community with Toys for Tots, Support our Troops and conservative political causes.
Whats next Kirby? Run for office?
36. Kirby,
Thank you for the show, and the important part that you played in completing my conversion to conservatism. You are truly an institution of the Puget Sound, and my family will enjoy hearing of your next success!
God Bless you.
37. I remember Kirby deftly, politely, respectfully and firmly chairing the Republican State Convention in 2008 in Spokane during a floor fight involving the Ron Paul and conservative factions. I think both sides left feeling they had been heard and respected.
38. I'm a GOP precinct committee officer so I've met Kirby informally a number of times at conventions and a number of other events. I guess what i remember most though would be the rally, at Westlake I think, shortly after the attack on the World Trade Center in 2001. That kind of epitomizes the unity and optimism of GOP events organized by Kirby. I still wish he would have gotten Carleen or somebody to sing the second and third verses of the National Anthem and occasionally used them in the morning. Best of luck Kirby.
39. It was like a shock to my system when I awoke last week to my usual "Kirby Wilbur alarm clock"...and NO KIRBY! What is KVI thinking? I am one of your loyal Seattle listeners who has never called in or sent you an email but relied on you every weekday morning to jumpstart my day. You are a voice of reason, sanity and common sense in the this moonbat mecca. Thanks to you I have gained a renewed interest in American history. Would you consider running for an elective office?? Don't fade away...we need you!
40. I started listening to Kirby after 9/11. He was my introduction to conservative talk radio and I have listened ever since. He was somebody local who knew the local political scene well. He was out in the community doing good things for this area. To say he will be missed is an understatement. A very large hole is left in the morning now. KVI will not find anyone capable of filling his shoes. Kirby, I know God will lead you into something better. A door has closed but a window will open. I wish only the best for your future and I hope we will all hear from you again.
41. We moved to Yelm in the 90's and KVI was a good station, you started with Kirby then it was Rush, what could be better. We have fond memories of the trip we took with Kirby abd friends on the Missippi River Steam Boat, what a trip, Kirby is a great historian.
42. Kirby is the only person which I obtained my political information on. I had respect for him, he definitely researched his information, he was an icon. I will follow him where ever he goes. He was a very good man, I will no longer listen to the radio in the morning, what's the purpose.
43. KIRBY WOKE ME UP IN THE MORNINGS! I will forever be late to work now. What the heck? Even though I never called in, HE WAS MY HERO FOR POLITICS! He knew more then I could ever, he has the information at this fingertips and in his head. I had gained interest in politics listening to Kirby. You will always have my support. Seattle is on your side, Kirby! Your a good man.
44. I only heard about this yesterday so didn't bother waking up at my usual 5am reveile to listen to Kirby this morning. My favorite Kirby segmnent was the "hero of the week", where he'd speak with a service member who had performed a heroic duty in Afghanistan or Iraq in the service of our country. The only such program i've come across on am radio.
You had a great 16 year run Kirby and I'm sure you'll find another gig in talk radio if that is of your choosing. Good luck and God speed, Sir.
45. Kirby - you'll land on your feet and be even better than before. Here's an e-mail I sent to KVI. I know Kirby, you being the gentleman that you are, you would discourage people from speaking ill of KVI or Fisher, but they started the fight.
--------------------------
E-mail to KVI:
Shame on you for firing Kirby!!!
You guys just cut your own throat. And the lame statement you issued, a lousy seven
lines for all the years of great work, shows your true colors. You are gutless and
disgusting. How dare you be so spineless
and pathetic as to suggest that you let Kirby go because of ratings - good God, how
stupid do you must think we are! If your ratings are sliding, it most certainly wasn't because
of Kirby. You want sliding ratings? Watch them slide now!!
This act of yours will be forever remembered as the beginning of the
demise of 570KVI as a great conservative talk radio - but maybe that's your intent all
along, eh? Good job station manager. Three cheers for you. You don't even have the
balls to put out your name in your pathetic, insulting statement.
Fisher Communications, you listening? You've been infiltrated by some rats, your KVI
station manager being one of them. Or is he/she just your mouth piece? You better clean
your house, before your ship sinks.
From a listener of KVI no more!
Jim Keeffe
Fall City
46. Your the best Kirby! God Bless you Sir!
Shame, Shame, Shame on Kvi.
I am a Navy Vet That has been stuck to the radio,
turned in to Kirby all these years!
Good Luck!
47. Kirby has been on the air as long as my husband and I have been married. He's been a constant part of our household, and one of our sources for insight on local news. Our older children listened, too. especially to his 'Hero of the Week" segment. Our kids even named a kitten after him, once.
It's difficult to name just one or two memories, from the Hilary rally, Rush coming to Puyallup, all of his charitable works, especially for OSOT and Toys for Tots. I think it really stinks that he's off air just before the holidays, when he could do so much good for local charities. The comunity will suffer for KVI's decision.
I do remember him raising money for a family whose toddler was badly burned. It was the first time I'd ever called talk radio, but their story really touched me, since we had a child about the same age. Kirby has heart, and it was comforting to know he was there for us (the listeners) when we needed him.
KVI has been cutting its local ties for years. I think it really began when they let go Michael Medved, even though he was national. I loved KVI with all its local shows, especially when they had such great round-table discussions during elections and 9/11. Then, one by one, they dropped their hosts. Seattle needs good, local conservative shows to keep the conservative voice heard. Now, David Bose is the only one left standing (and I love his show). I don't exactly consider "The Commentators" all that conservative.
Farewell, Kirby. I hope and pray you find a a new venue locally soon. We need shows like yours as a beacon through the rotten Washington politics, and local charities need your support, too.
We'll be looking for you.
And good-bye KVI. You have nothing left that interests me. I hope you finally figure out that you've been cutting off your listener base.
48. I am stunned that Fisher Broadcasting has done this! You have informed and educated and encouraged. I will miss your input, charitable contributions and promotions etc., etc. I am sure that God isn't thru with you yet! Just be sure to let us know where your next assignment is located. I have removed KVI and KOMO from my fav list. They no longer qualify.
49. I am in shock and withdrawal that Kirby is not on the air!!! He was the favorite talk show host for our family. He was the only KVI host left that I listened to for the local perspective. I especially enjoyed the Wednesday tribute to our service men and the morning school classroom pledge of allegiance, support of homeschool families and love for America. You are very missed and we will tune into you wherever you go next.
50. we have only lived here for 6 years but almost all of that time we listened to Kirby Wilbur every morning. We were elated when we found a radio show that would host a man like Kirby and we had hope that maybe some of us conservatives in WA would be heard. Now that hope has been dashed. To have a local man say what we believed to be true about our country gave us hope that we were at lest listened to. Now KVI has joined the ranks of all the liberals in radio who really don't speak for the majority of Americans. He brought GOD back into the spotlight and told it like it is. Shame on KVI. Kirby will be back. We will search until we find him again in whatever venue he will be. He speaks for good solid Americans who love this country and believe in the core values we were brought up on and what made this country great. I like Laura Ingraham but I can see her on TV so bye, bye KVI. You have done the majority of your listeners and grave disservice.
51. Hey Kirby! We will miss you and are anxiously waiting to see what you will be doing next! Years ago our homeschool day started with listening to you as we ate breakfast, then you became my morning kick start, first with the national anthem, then with the military heroes and a wealth of classy insight and education in between. I especially appreciated your gentlemanly approach to callers, instead of yelling like most other hosts. We valued your opinion about local and national elections, books, movies and so much more. We wish the best to you and Trina, hope to hear you on the air somewhere soon!
52. I started listening to KVI when I was stationed at Ft Lewis in 1996. Kirby was a great voice that allowed me to reconnect with my native Northwest. I tried to listen to other stations over the years but always came back to KVI... because of Kirby.
When I left active duty in 2000, the Kirby, Medved and later Suits line-up helped me maintain my conservative foundation. Suits reports from Iraq on Kirby's show encouraged me to re-enlist in the National Guard.
I've met Kirby a few times, going 15 and 20 miles out of my way, leaving early from work, just to say hello, thanking him for doing all the research we did not have time for.
KVI was once the only station in the NW where the voice of the silent majority was heard by a local man. While I like Peter an hour is not enough for local coverage.
Life is full of steps, I guess the next step is to remove KVI from my preset "Number 1" position.
Kiby if you read any of these please know that you have touch many, many lives. You have our prayers and we await your return to the Airwaves...Greater than ever.
God Bless,
John
53. Kirby was and is much loved for obvious reasons.
I am certain that he will be back.
Join his group on Facebook or on twitter and keep up with him.
I will continue to listen to KVI only to see who is still advertising. I will consider this information when I make my buying decisions.
Better yet, I will just visit KVI.com to see who not to buy from.
54. Though I liked many of the programs on KVI, Kirby's was the only one I looked forward to hearing. He is a gentleman and a scholar. Guess I'll be listening to the competition from now on.
55. I will miss hearing your voice in the morning and getting your local opinion. The moment I heard you were not going to be there any longer I changed the station that I woke up to in the morning. I looked forward to your interaction with local people and your thoughts on the elections. My best to you and your family and I might see you some time in Duval since I am there often. The station made a very big mistake.
56. KVI just did Kirby Wilbur and the nation a big favor. He can feel very free to become syndicated and become a national voice with his calm voice of reason. He can remove Laura from many of the stations she is now on as he does not have an overrated opinion of himself like she and many other talk show hosts do. He is always polite to his guests and callers, so why didn't KVI move him to the evening in place of Mark Levin so that KVI can present a genteel image to the listeners? Good Luck Kirby.
57. I AM SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR LEAVING KIRYB MISS HEARING YOU IN THE MORNING. MY CONCLUSION IS THAT YOU WERE STRONG AND STOOD UP FOR THINGS LOCALLY AND NATIONALLY. I THINK THE OPPOSITION DID THIS TO YOU, THE DEMOCRATS AND ALL OBAMA PEOPLE, OUR GOVERNOR ETC. I DONOT BELIEVE YOUR RATINGS WERE TOO LOW, THAT CANNOT BE TRUE. GLENN BECK IS OKAY BUT DON'T CARE FOR HIM THAT MUCH. I DONOT ENJOY THE JOHN GIBSON SHOW OR THAT WOMAN. THEY ONLY TALK ABOUT NATIONAL THINGS AND I DONOT CARE TO LISTEN TO THEM. I HOPE YOU WILL GET ON ANOTHER RADIO STATION MAYBE FOX NEWS LET US KNOW WHEN WE CAN LISTEN TO YOU AGAIN AND WHAT STATION.
I STARTED LISTENING TO YOU WAY BACK WHEN YOU FIRST CAME ON AT NIGHT HAVE BEEN LOYAL LISTENER EVERY SINCE. GOOD LUCK
58. I can only parrot what others have said. Kirby was the one that drew me into conservative talk radio. I will not be listening to the show they replaced him with, as I do not care for her style of debate. I'll be looking for something else that is local. If Kirby somehow gets back on the air, I'll definitely start listening again.
...he's the only reason I ever found out about that vote Monday about giving illegal immigrants amnesty here in Seattle. I just hope some one else will have the guts to step forward and keep the public informed, as our government (both national AND local) seems hell-bent to keep us in the dark and feed us B.S.
60. I can only parrot what others have said. Kirby was the one that drew me into conservative talk radio. I will not be listening to the show they replaced him with, as I do not care for her style of debate. I'll be looking for something else that is local. If Kirby somehow gets back on the air, I'll definitely start listening again.

66. Kirby, you are a great American. I feel betrayed by KVI. I also remember first listening to you late nights when I had a night truck driving job. About the same time I switched to a day driving job, you went to the morning show. You have been my constant morning companion for many years. I have seen you at a few local events and have found you very easy to talk to and not full of yourself. Your a real down to earth guy that shares my concern for our country. I can't say enough good things about you Kirby, I especially liked your style on the radio, it was like you were talking TO me, not at thousands of people. I am sure you will have many offers come your way, I just hope you are able to stay local. But if somethign better comes along that takes you away from the area, go with my blessing. You Mr. Wilbur, are a class act! The heart and soul of KVI.
Scott Newkirk
67. Kirby, Thank you for all the years of listening to you, the pledges, the Heroes of the week, the political talk, explanations, and viewpoints. Most of all, the knowledge and wealth of history you have given to so many! What a lasting heritage and hopefully an inspiration to many to study and learn on their own. May the Lord bless you, and guide you on His path, and may you continue to be a beacon for truth for the preservation of this country and its freedom!
68. Thank God my iPhone can download Levin's podcast! I no longer have reason to turn to KVI. Let us know where you land, Kirby. I'm sure you'll know where to find us. Now if we could just get Peter on a life raft out of there...
69. My radio goes on at 5:00a.m. almost every day!! last I heard you took your birthday off. I've been going through withdrawls for days. I never listen when your not on. KVI is obviously following the maddness of the rest of the world and opporating in the same delusions as to what the American people want. As for me, I'll miss your program immensely!! Please let us know where you land, we need your voice of sanity. Stand steady and God Bless you . Thank-you Susan Sprague

71. Hey KVI why don't you just go back to playing oldies again!!! Kirby was the last decent show on your lousy station.
72. I shunned politics my entire life until early 2004 when I took an interest in the Rossi/Gregoire and Battle of the Daves campaigns. I listened to KIRO and I listened to KVI. With Kirby's and John Carlson's help, it wasn't long until I realized I was a full fledge conservative. I registered to vote for the first time ever in 2005 (I'm over 40!) after Rossi was screwed out of the governorship.
In early 2006 I went to my Republican caucus due to Kirby's encouragement on the airwaves. I became a member of the Pierce County Republican Party and delegate to the PCRP convention that night. Now, just four years later, I am an elected Precinct Committee Officer (02-026 Graham), and PCRP Deputy Sergeant at Arms. I have worked on several campaigns at the grassroots level (Dave Reichert, Randi Becker, Jan Shabro to name but a few). I have a blog and my letters to the editor are frequently published in the Tacoma News Tribune.
If one had told me even six years ago that I would become actively involved in politics, I would have asked them how much crack they had just smoked. I have to give Kirby, John Carlson and Brian Suits credit for getting, and keeping me interested, and making me believe that I CAN help make a difference. Now all three are gone from KVI's airwaves... and so am I.
Thank you Kirby. You truly are a "great American".
73. It would have to be the Reagan Birthday Dinners at Ruth's Chris and then going on the air with him on ?Northwest Afternoon? after the EP-3E incident in China!
Still can't believe he's off the air, my morning drive to work is just NOT THE SAME!

79. Kirby, you have been a part of our mornings for years and years, and I can hardly face a morning without you. We discovered conservative radio and you, and it has been so wonderful to hear your down-to-earth interviews, election picks, and general discussions and encouragements! You have meant so much to our lives, and for that we thank you and we need to HEAR you again SOON! Please come back right away to a ready-made audience out here in conservative land. We are ready and waiting for you! Thanks for being You, and for being a Great American!
from Skagit County.
80. As a transplant to the Northwest while serving in the Navy (circa 1993), I found Kirby to be intertaining and informative. Thanks Kirby for helping me understand Washington politics over the years, your voice will be truely missed. I wish you what you wished daily for all the military, police, firefighters and those who serve, god bless.
81. Kirby, I do hope that you've had a chance to read some of the testimonials presented here. They all go to show what an impression you've made upon the landscape over the last 16 years.
How many morning commutes did you keep me company, with your warm and affable style? How many times did you provide a comprehensive review of an issue that didn't descend into the gutter politics that have become so prevalent?
I'll miss ya buddy (hopefully not for long!)...
82. Kirby,
I will miss listening to you..hopefully for not too long! I emailed KTTH. They need to hire you! Good luck - I know I will listen to you soon wherever you are.

84. Kirby, I never called in to your show, but so often would think "that's right!" while listening to you. Thank you for your graciousness in your interviews and especially your support of the military and homeschooling. You are missed!
85. Kirby,it doens't seem possible that you are not there when I turn on my radio, first to exercise at 5:30 and then on my way to work. You have such common sense, I can't imagine that you won't be a part of my day. Because of you, we went to a Tea Party in Olympia, went to the Freedom Bridge a few years ago where we met. You turned us on to the conservative movement, the effects of what you instilled in your loyal listeners will continue to be felt and to live on. You have great things ahead, no doubt about it. It has been a privilige to get to know you on the radio. Shame on KVI!!
86. Ever since Bryan Suits got the "Shaft", I had pretty much swore off KVI with the exception of Kirby. With Kirby now off the air at KVI, I see no reason to listen to them anymore. So long KVI................
87. Since moving to the Redmond area 3.5 years ago, I started every weekday morning listening to Kirby. He's a real common-sense guy and I will miss his take on current events. I wish him well on his next project and hope to be able to listen to him on the radio again very soon.

90. Every morning since 9-11 when the alarm goes off, if I don't hear Kirby I got really awake fast. He had all this coverage from the network on and once I started listening I got really upset.
91. My husband and I listened to Kirby every morning on the way to work. Even though I never met him personally he was like a friend. This is definitely a loss for KVI and everyone involved. We need a conservative local voice for this state and Kirby was the voice. Thanks for all you do Kirby within the community, state and country. God bless you and God bless America!
92. There's a huge hole in morning radio now. Kirby is an inspiration to all conservatives in a wasteland of statists.
Thank you so much for everything you've done for us and our community. I hope we can follow you wherever you go.
93. Kirby ole buddy! YAF cheers from the ether of the 70's. How much I enjoyed working with you against the pinheads in those days. You are a class act, a man above men,and I'm glad to see you're still trashing the left and making the establishment nervous. I new you would outgrow KVI. Now that the communist national regime appears to be on the ropes, there is probably more important work for you to do. Somebody needs to get with rebuilding the Republican party before we have another Perot type disaster. Good Luck my friend, and thanks for standing with Col. North in Seattle 20 some years ago. That took a lot of courage. Have you considered teaching history to the administration?
94. Like many others, I first heard Kirby late at night while coming home from my own late shift. I followed him to the morning drive when my schedule changed. I spoke with him in person at a couple of remote broadcasts, and at the Christmas party at the history museum in Tacoma a few years ago. I also had the priviledge of meeting Trina and the boys while doing church directory portraits at their church. When I asked Kirby(who was seated on Trina's right)to lean in closer to her he cracked "I don't lean left!" Classic Kirby Wilbur. I will truly miss hearing him on the air, but will keep checking his web site to continue getting his reasoned conservitive commentary.
95. I am disgusted that Kirby is no longer on air. He got me interested in politics and I enjoyed hearing "honest" reporting of the issues and politicians. I have already removed KVI from my radio dial. I hope Kirby lands where I can again enjoy his insights. I already miss him greatly! Kirby, you must be doing something right! God bless you!
96. BOY-O-BOY, I sure do miss Kirby Wilbur!! I have met Kirby a few times and he is the "REAL DEAL"!! He is a good Christian and a great American Patriot!! I sure do miss my good morning "KIRBY FIX"!! I am sure Kirby will be back on the radio waves very soon and I will be listening!! I have removed the KVI pre-set on my radio and sent emails to the KVI advertisers telling them I will not use their services or buy their products as long as they keep advertising on KVI!! My wife and I, my family and my friends miss you Kirby!! Keep us informed about what you intend to do!! Hope to hear from you or see you soon....
