Is Rosenberger trying to buy the assessor's election?

In what appears to be a last act of desperation from the foundering Rosenberger for King County Assessor Campaign, last night, the last night allowed by law, Rosenberger dumped 60 large of his own money into his campaign, bringing his total personal donations to the campaign up to nearly $100,000 and making him the second highest self financed candidate this year after Joe Mallahan. This amount equals about 95% of his total campaign financing. (His opponent, Lloyd Hara, has received donations from more than 500 supporters representing 93% of his campaign coffers.)

Why did he do this at the last minute and more importantly, where is he getting all this money? After all, for most of his career he's been just a lowly public servant at the Assessor's office, working tirelessly for the property owners of King County. (I can't believe I got that out with a straight face!)

Perhaps he's mortgaged one of his six properties in King County, two of which he purchased while working at the King County Assessor's office.

2. It is a bit curious where he is getting the money. But at the same time I really doubt there is anything terribly nefarious going on. I've met both men running for Assessor and I've talked to people who know both well. I have confidence no matter who is elected that the job of the assessor will be done professionally and competently. This is likely why so many organizations have chosen to endorse both candidates in this race.
