On TVW. And I would urge you to do so — especially if you think Al Gore has been giving us an accurate description of the problems of climate change. During the talk, climatologist Michaels makes a few critiques of Gore's wilder claims, and provides you enough references so that you can check his arguments yourself.
Michaels' talk is informative, and often extremely funny. (A few people will be pleased at the way that he replies to a Joel Connelly question at the end of the talk. It's good to see Connelly come to such events, but not every one will be convinced that he brought an open mind with him.)
And if you can't watch tomorrow night, record it so you can watch it later.
TVW is running two other sessions from the Washington Policy Organization conference. Tonight, at 8, they are broadcasting the "Free Market Environmentalism" session; Thursday evening, also at 8, they are broadcasting the "Precautionary Principle" session. Both are worth while, especially for those unfamiliar with either subject.
In Thurday's program, John Hill gives a good summary of our progress in cleaning up our air and water, with statistics for both this area and the nation.
Posted by Jim Miller at July 28, 2009 01:02 PM | Email ThisI always like the point where they say early measuring methods and equipment weren't very accurate, but..... then they go on and analyze data as if it were accurate.
But, he was one of the first I've heard admit the early data is not the best.
But, isn't that pretty critical to the issue?
Other than that, the guy seemed to be pretty level-headed and gave his opinions that would benefit both sides on different aspects.
Posted by: swatter on July 28, 2009 01:54 PMBut what we do know, is that there is no quantifiable basis for climate alarm. And especially when it would be as large and as fundamentally damaging to our economy as Waxman-Markey.
And even more especially, when taken in to context with all of the other problems, needs, wants, nice to haves, etc. that face humans, and Americans in particular. And polls show that rightfully, Americans rank climate change as near the bottom of their priority lists of pressing national issues.
The arrogance is breathtaking. We have people without adequate drinking water, and children dying of malaria from mosquito bites, and Al Gore and crew want you to be worried about very extreme margin predictions of sea level rise in 100 years, when the models that he and other Alarmists are using have not predicted even the last 10 years accurately. Oh, and BTW, Al stands to benefit from both Cap and Trade, and from the Wind and Solar where he is heavily invested.
When government grows, corruption flows.
