King County Has Been "Grossly Mismanaged"
Who says so? King
County executive candidate
Ross Hunter.
King County Executive candidate Ross Hunter is available today to respond to the State Audit of
King County Finances released today. The report found that King County's internal financial
controls are a combination of numerous systems with significant holes, leaving the system open for
potential abuse of public funds.
"It's clear that King County government has been grossly mismanaged by the executive and existing
council offices," says Hunter. "This audit proves that current government has been asleep at
the wheel. The next executive must be someone who comes from outside county government and has
real experience managing budgets."
Hunter does not mention the names of previous county executives in his press release, but I am
fairly sure that the last
two are, like Hunter,
Democrats — and are now serving in the Obama administration.

1. So is party-switcher Ross Hunter trying to tell us he didn't actually vote for Ron Sims? Ross--how 'bout it?? Tell us who you voted for last time around....
2. or should I say, did Hunter vote to RE-elect Ron Sims?
3. Hunter has always been a D. Jarrett is the turncoat
4. Yeah....Just, what we need, another Democrat to replace a failed Democrat. That has always worked well. It's like doing something that ends in failure and yet, doing the same thing like electing a Democrat to replace a Democrat and expecting a different result. Will Liberals ever learn?....NO!
5. I stand corrected about Ross Hunter, who did NOT switch parties. However, if he's going to accuse the current administration of gross mismanagement we'd still like to know if he voted to re-elect fellow democrat Ron Sims.
6. Just a technicality - the King County Exec race is non-partisan. Yes, we all know everyone's "preference". But no one will carry the party label.
Rather than worry about who voted for whom in past elections, isn't it more important to hear what this batch of candidates is saying about what they think needs to be done?
Two of the candidates want the status quo. One of them could win, because most of Seattle agrees that things are just fine, and are on the band wagon with Dow Constantine.
If it comes down to Constantine and Hutchison in the final, you don't honestly believe Susan will win, do you?
So I suggest you all start looking at the four who will come in second, and decide which of these agrees with you the most, and vote for them in the primary. At least that way you have a fighting chance of having someone in office who will try to fix things.
7. Janet S @ 6
Susan Hutchison is a LOT stronger than you are making her out to be. I could see her beating Constantine or Phillips.
Hunter or Jarrett, on the other hand, could beat Hutchison is the general election. And Hunter stands a decent chance of making the general, if he can keep attacking King County fiscal mismanagement.
8. Why is Susan Hutchison way out in front in the latest KING-5 poll ? It may not mean much at this time, OR...maybe because people are sick and tired of anyone running who has any connections with Ron Sims. Looking at the state of the country, sick and tired is definitely in vogue and will stick around for a while.
9. Yeah janet @6...We do know everyone's preference. Ross Hunter is a Democrat along with Jarrett. If either one gets elected don't expect much change. After all it's just, a Democrat replacing another Democrat. Big Deal!....Big Nothing! The only way for real change is to elect someone who is not a Democrat. Better yet, someone who is not a Politician. Susan Hutchison is neither Democrat or a Politician. Any thinking person would prefer someone as King County Executive that isn't contaminated by owing any dues to any Political Party nor being just another Politician that's more interested in playing the game with the insiders than, truly representing King County Tax Payers in getting the most service for the money and hopefully, a Tax break.
10. The operative word is "thinking person" - the jury is still out on whether there are enough out there that it will really matter in this election in King County.
11. Hey Richard Pope@7...Janet S is actually, stumping for Ross Hunter. She knows full well that Susan Hutchison is Ross's strongest adversary. That's why she is deliberately down playing Susan Hutchison.
12. Just vote for Susan.
13. I feel sorry for the conservative citizens of the Communist Republic Of King County. The socialist/left wing/progressive wackos keep electing people who keep on bankrupting King County and raping its tax payers to fund their nutty programs and then wonder why taxes are so high. You couldn't pay me to live in that cesspool.
14. There are certainly plenty of Republicans getting rich off of King County and its legal subsidiaries. Not to mention Republican drug addict gangsters sitting around the bar whining about tax and spend pot smokers.
But, of course, not at Sound Politics. Thank God.
15. @13...There is a Cesspool within King County that is far worse...It's called Seattle!
16. #14: How pathetic. There aren't many republicans in King County. Since Seattle/King County is a one horse party area it is easy to see (even twits like you)where the corruption lies. That is with the Socialist Democrat Party. NO WHERE ELSE.
17. King County mismanaged? Oh the shock of it all. Only since time began that's all.
Whidbey ex-pat here.
18. Seattle...Detroit with a view...all thanks to you, Liberals...
