Hike, ride and play on the Mountains to Sound Greenway

The Greenway is a continuous band of land preserved for hiking, riding and just enjoying from Puget Sound to and across the Cascade Mountains. It comprises parks and trails and land that is preserved, but not in use by the public.

This weekend is their annual kick-off event on June 20th & 21.

Take a hike, find a hidden cache, ride your bike or take the Greenway Challenge by visiting a number of the many wonderful sites in the Greenway.

The Kick-Off to Your Greenway Summer! With more than 25 events in over 10 communities, there is something for everyone during Greenway Days.

Hikers, see also the Seattle PI hikes directory. It's not easy to use, but there is a lot there.

1. My favorite exercise was the bike ride from outside North Bend east through the tunnel and ending up on the east side of the pass using the abandoned railroad tracks.

Someone told me that now you can enter at Rattlesnake but can't go through the tunnel. Have a bypass now?

My experience was ten years ago and at a time when when I biked to the top of Cougar Mountain I looked around and found that I was 2.5 times older than the average biker.

Now that the girls are older we are starting to enjoy bike trips. Just curious on the tunnel which used to be a treat.

2. Ahh yes the great outdoors.
Beware that liberals will be everywhere doing those things that liberals love to do.
Given the elements, keep your wits about you and pack heat.

Wow really? You use an article about hiking to ridicule liberals. What do you mean? "Doing what liberals do"? Do you think that there are going to be hundreds of them chained to trees along the trail shouting support of government programs so loud that your entire hike will be ruined?

Are you packing heat, because you might have shoot some liberals out on the trails that do not have the same political views as you do? Pretty distasteful joke.

partisan HACK!

10. Rizzo (John Jensen),

@10 you wrote "I want to murder conservatives. Haha, get it guys?"

Why (exactly) would you write such a thing?

11. @10,
Next you will be telling us you want to rape our 14 year old daughters too. Perhaps CBS will give you a late show. Sick liberal bastards.

12. Since Olympia is running short of opm. why not start taxing bikes and require bike licenses, after all, they do use the roads in Washington. What an easy way to raise revenue without over taxing motorists. I can just hear the left wing wackos complaining about taxing their dear bikes.
