Thursday's Washington Times: "Nominee ensnared in records violations"
President Obama's choice for the government's No. 2 housing job is embroiled in the largest fine in U.S. history for "blatant violations" of open records laws after the Washington State Supreme Court chastised his office for withholding documents detailing taxpayer costs for a new professional football stadium in Seattle.Oops. That headline should now read "Deputy Secretary ensnared in records violations":
King County Executive Ron Sims was confirmed Wednesday by the U.S. Senate to become deputy secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.Triplett would continue Sims' legacy:Sims' resignation as county executive is expected to come quickly. Sims has designated Executive Chief of Staff Kurt Triplett to hold the job until the Metropolitan King County Council chooses an interim replacement to serve until after a new county executive is elected in November.
An animal rights group is asking King County councilmembers not to select Executive Ron Sims' chief of staff as Sims' interim replacement, saying he delayed disclosure of a damning report about animal shelters until after nearly $1 million in new funding had been approved for the facilities.Great. So much for Obama's OPEN Government.
Posted by: Medic/Vet on May 7, 2009 06:31 AMCorpuz and the Ladenburg family was/are the defacto head of the Democrat party in Pierce County. The Police Chief was in the position because of Corpuz and ladenburg support.
Posted by: JDH on May 7, 2009 08:24 AMRon Sims, unfortunately, will fit right in. Watch his net worth increase like a Big Man of a banana republic during the next four years. He'll be in good company - the Chicago-style corruption involved in screwing secured bondholders to pay off union goons at Chrysler will drive that approval rating still lower, and also drive away anyone in their right mind who is asked for a loan by such a crooked 'public-private' entity.
Having a President who formerly posed as a teacher of Constitutional law, and now eagerly uses political coercion to break good-faith contracts and shovel funds to his accomplices at ACORN, is just another bonus to the crooks in charge in Washington.
Guard your valuables, and ready the tar and feathers.

Posted by: ewaggin on May 7, 2009 12:13 PMI guess that just makes your post yesterday baseless innuendo.
I do not think you know what that word means... Using fifty cent words when you have a ten cent intellect leaves you quite a bit short!
Posted by: Shanghai Dan on May 7, 2009 05:16 PMI do not think you know what that word means...
Go ahead, Dan. Pull down that great big book from the dusty shelf, spin out of its way as it thuds towards the floor, yelp as it slams your big toe, crack it open, heave it open to the 'I' tab, and tell us what the big word means. Then tell us how none of the 1.5 billion baseless posts here about the KCRE's performance has neatly fit the very definition of that word. Go ahead; the teabaggers haven't delivered their comedy gold yet this week (although they're trying; they're always very trying), and we liberals need a laugh. Shoveling the huge piles of Bush-s**t from the once-glorious stables of our once-great Republic is a huge task, and we liberals are equal to it, but your comic relief will help. Do be the biggest patriot an expatriate parasite can ever possibly hope to be, and do your part to help us liberals restore our once-great country. Maybe we'll return it to a state you can stomach to experience; given your many cases of the vapors, that's a big, tall order, but we're big, tall Americans -- over here, in America, Dan -- and we'll do it, with or without you. Please do your part!
I'm comfortable with my usage -- you might want to brush up on the definition yourself before you post. I even spelled the word for you so it should be easy.
Number one, there was no "oblique" or "veiled" reference in Stefan's post. Nope, pretty direct:
largest fine in U.S. history for "blatant violations" of open records laws
Blatant violations, largest fine. Nothing oblique or hinted at! He calls it right out.
There's nothing shaded or couched here, and there aren't not allegations made - it's all hard facts, and with the settled case it's now a proven, settled accusation.
So yeah, it's pretty clear neither of you really understand what that word means. And I surmise you're a pair of examples of not just a failing mathematics education system in Washington, but also a collapsed English educational system as well (that would be innuendo, for the record).
You can thank me for the English lesson later...
Posted by: Shanghai Dan on May 7, 2009 10:44 PMYes, I'm the nitwit for calling you out on your incorrect use of the word "innuendo" in a thread where it was incorrectly used!
If you have a problem with any innuendo from Stefan in another thread, then the intelligent thing would be to POST IT IN THAT THREAD. But I guess that would be too consistent and logical for you.
So I guess in addition to not understanding what the word "innuendo" means, you also don't know how to properly address threads on a website. I guess that explains a lot more about your oft-incoherent ramblings...
Posted by: Shanghai Dan on May 8, 2009 02:59 AMStefan's first post on Wednesday hinted that there was something amiss with Sims' nomination. It was an indirect intimation about Sims, an intimation of a disparaging or derogatory nature -- an innuendo. (Roll the word around in your mouth a few times. Use it in a few sentences so you can get used to it and realize it's not such a big word.)
Ironically, Sims was confirmed within hours of Stefan's post, maybe even as he was writing it. His confirmation was apparently routine -- no snags.
In his second post, Stefan noted that Sims had been confirmed without any reference to his post a mere seven hours earlier that implied problems for Sims. My comment was directed at this. The connection between my comment and Stefan's two posts may have been too subtle for you to grasp, but I can't always be taking the time to explain things to you.
I've mentioned this before, Dan, but I'll repeat it. Your dimwitted commentary is truly one of the reasons I read this site, so, please, keep it up.
Posted by: scottd on May 8, 2009 07:57 AMThat's OK you go ahead and try to justify your ignorance of how this thing called "the Internet" works and how posts and articles are usually lumped together for consistency!
Scott,
Spot-on. You get an A! I guess the other Scott, Scottd, self-graded. I'd give him a D as well...
Posted by: Shanghai Dan on May 8, 2009 04:31 PMWow ... you're not faking this, are you?
I'll try one last time, paraphrasing to keep it simple for you:
Stefan's Post #1: Hmmm... Ron Sims still not confirmed ... he's hit a snag!
Stefan Post #2 (seven hours later): Sims confirmed!
My Comment (to #2): So, Sims was confirmed yesterday -- I guess that just makes your post yesterday baseless innuendo. What a surprise...
Dan's reaction: Incoherent blithering about word definitions and how the internet works.
Comedy gold!
Posted by: scottd on May 8, 2009 05:54 PMYou really are a dolt...
Original Stefan article for this thread: Posted by Stefan Sharkansky at May 06, 2009 10:31 PM
Your retort that was ill-conceived: Posted by: scottd on May 7, 2009 07:49 AM
Well, well, well... Stefan posts this thread's opening article on the 6th of May, and the next day you respond. Hey, the post by Stefan at the top of this thread WAS yesterday by the time you posted! Revel in your own ignorance, hoisted on your own petard.
BTW, there is no innuendo in that!
HOPE AND CHANGE! Because you don't have much else going for you...
Posted by: Shanghai Dan on May 9, 2009 03:23 AMKurt is a fine choice; he has already brought back the former DNRP Director who was responsible for a 10 year reign of fiscal irresponsiblility.
Ron and Kurt last month brought back her back, a loyal subject instead of turning to current employees. Most inside the county are tired of the status quo and would change things if given a chance. This move will protect Ron's interests until January.
Kurt may want to ensure the date and time are correct on his fax, he doesn't need another county candidate running for political office on county time, sending the wrong information to elections office. Beaming up Scotty this time might cost him!
I wonder how District 36 likes their choice.
I'm glad you are now aware of how confusing your statement was, given the exact wording and nature of what you said.
I'll accept your implied apology and move on...
