Senate committee votes in favor of Sims' appointment

The Senate Banking Committee voted unanimously to approve Ron Sims' appointment as Deputy Secretary of HUD.

Perhaps even the Republican members were impressed by Sims' pledge to manage the $39 billion HUD budget with "any accuracy any bank would envy", or something.

Meanwhile, the Times reports that convicted Seattle jihadist James Ujaama is about to testify against an alleged fellow terrorist. We're reminded that when Ujaama was first investigated for terrorism links he was defended by a then future Obama appointee:

[Ujaama] and his younger brother, Mustafa, were "community activists, not terrorists," then-King County Executive Ron Sims told The Los Angeles Times.
A community activist like William Ayres!

Sims' character judgment will serve him well in Obama's Washington.

UPDATE: The Washington Examiner: "Court Records Contradict HUD Nominee's Remarks to Television Crew"

Michelle Malkin: "Ron Sims, Liar"

Sims' nomination could still unravel before it comes to a full Senate vote if a few motivated Senators do some more research into his track record.

1. Well, you won't have to worry about Sims having any influence of King County elections while he's in Washington, DC. Look on the bright side.

2. The 'Peter Principle' in all it's glory! What could possibly happen now??? Hang on, we still have 3 years to go.

3. You can tell a great deal about a person based on the people they surround themselves with. Based on the appointments of Sims and others like him, corruption, unpaid taxes, and questionable campaign contributions seem to be the prerequisite for employment in the current administration.
So much for "change" and "transparency."
It's going to be a LONG four years!

5. Sims fits in perfectly with the Thug Thizzle that the Dems have going on.

6. Is anyone surprised??? Heck all Obama has is TAX CHEATS. Why should Ron be any different.

Now we learn the 747 flyover, the feds knew there would be problems.
Yeah tell me the White House didn't know...

Are you kidding me he is not smart enough to manage $39 Billion, he screwed up $4B. Did they all loose their mind back there or too scared to call it like it is?
We should get rid of all the politicians and lawyers NOW!

LOL, yes!

9. I, for one, do not want any "motivated" Senators doing any research into Sims. It's pure self motivation. I don't want him back here.

10. Stefan--
Politics has always been a sort of humorous sport.
Think of all the laughs we will get if they approve Sims and THEN his past corrupt track record becomes public?!

People deserve the government they elect. They elected Obama, the Dems are in the majority and Sims is the posterboy for the quality of Obama's appointee's.

I hope they approve Sims...but Republicans all vote NO. Then start unloading Sims real track record.

Why warn these KLOWNS they are about to step into a big pile of dogsh*t by appointing Sims?
Let them step into it....then scoop up a big bucket and dump it on their heads.

11. Stopped by to see if the conversation had picked up. NOPE! Much like the Republican party this blog is fading fast. Have fun discussing yourselves among yourselves. BUH-bye.

12. Well, let's not help them do the research! We want Sims outta here!

Says the one who is a fan of the now defunct liberal propaganda paper.

15. That's OK... You know the saying "those that can't do, teach"... Well the PIFan Corollary is "those that can't think, don't contribute".

I think we're better off without his constant braying about how there isn't enough content here, especially since the sum total of his own contribution is "there isn't enough content here".

16. PIFan @13 -

Thanks ever so much for that lustrous pearl of wisdom.

Tell me, were you born stupid, or did the doctor drop you on your head?

17. I truly home they confirm. He will get lost in DC and never be heard from again. Amen!

18. Stefan is posting again, Dem's have a 60 Seats and a potential 60th vote, GOP wanted to kill protection against Swine Flu and Volcanoes. Life on here is so much more interesting under the Obama administration, he continues to prove what a huge failure the prior administration was.

Posted by: Cato on April 29, 2009 01:19 PM
19. Your point about some GOP lawmakers possibly raising a stink over Sims just makes me wonder...who would do it? Are there any Republicans with a spine left in WA DC? Or is it just a "don't fire until you can see the whites of their eyes" mentality? Maybe it's just that there are no fighters. The GOP seems to think they lost power because they weren't enough LIKE democraps. I believe the opposite is true. People couldn't tell the difference. I saw a headline on Drudge that said only 1/4 of registered voters identify themselves as Republicans. I don't think all those people went the Arlen Sphinctor route and joined the socialists. I think they just became non-affiliated, as I have, because the Republicans don't represent conservatism anymore. If the GOP starts to call the democraps out on their socialism and can come up with proposals that are 180 degrees from what democraps are doing, fine, I'll come back. If not, they will languish.
And last but not least, Cato...explain for us how studying Volcanos and making swine flu vaccines (that we already have enough of by the way) is "stimulus".

20. Steven -

If his nomination comes unraveled, then we'd have to KEEP him, a notion dreadful beyond words.

Tis' a far, far better thing that he should be whisked away and hurled into the cesspool of the Obama Administration...and become irretrievably smeared with odiferous vileness and failure, unelectable forever after!

Do let us not jiggle the arm on this one!

21. I remember sims being a pompous windbag, usually on KING5 news when I was really serving this country at NAS Whidbey Island. He was like the IAM district president during strikes, he had to see himself on the news.

22. ObfusCATOr,

You can thank Chuck Schumer for the flu funding removal. Of course, you won't because that's eating one of your own, and if there's one thing we know about Slavers, is that you stick together tighter than the mob!

23. I guess D'OHbama was too busy deleting links to realize that flying large jets over New Yorkers could actually send them into a panic.

24. Ummmmmmm Cato, I hate to break this to you, BUT YOU KLOWNS ARE IN CHARGE!

Here is precisely what Chucky Schumer (DEMOCRAT-NY) said:

"All those little porky things that the House put in, the money for the [National] Mall or the sexually transmitted diseases or the flu pandemic, they're all out," Schumer said.

Now Cato, how far do you think blaming R's for this is going to go with your guy INCHARGE, Chucky Schumer, on the record saying this.

Do you want to see the clip of the words coming out of his LEFTIST PINHEAD??
Cato is so stressed about his folks being in charge, he would probably claim a clip of Schumer saying this on CNN is some vast Right-wing conspiracy.

Cato--
Grow up and Wise up.
It's never too late.

25. Stefan--
I guess the obvious question is now that King Kounty has settled with you, what is next?
Any other action that can be taken as a result of this settlement?

What about suing Sims and Logan on behalf of the citizens of King Kounty?? Nice way of kicking them both in the ass on their way out the door.

PS--
I think Sims was desperate for that DC job because Sims actions here might have risen to misfeasance or malfeasance in office....if a Superior Court Judge ruled as such, Sims would have had to face the voters....a RECALL.
I suspect with Yousefian's case and yours...it might have been enough. We'll never know.

26. Stefan does have a 'gift', doesn't he Mr, Cynic? I would like him to take on a different cause. But, to be successful in exposing corruption in government he needs his "sources". That is the key for exposes.

27. swatter--
Just think of the impact of a lawsuit against Sims & Logan on behalf of the Citizens of King Kounty...to force these 2 KLOWNS to reimburse the Kounty $225,000 personally.
ANY King Kounty resident has standing to do so IF the 2 KLOWNS actions result in personal liability.

Also, think of the splash it would make in DC and Nationwide...
Stefan and Soundpolitics would be on the National map.
Stefan would be on O'Reilly, Hannity...heck, Rush may even have him on.

What an opportunity...for exposure AND to hold the 2 KLOWNS personally responsible.

28. I posted the following challenge over at AssesHorse or whatever it's called:

"Jon, Goldy at al KLOWNS-

I hope you KLOWNS will join Stefan and the SP folks in suing Ron Sims & Dean Logan personally to collect the money King Kounty was forced to pay ($225,000). I know Goldy was particularly upset about the award, as was Rog Rabbit...complaining about the impact of the Kounty Kbudget. Well, now a solution exists!!

Can you all imagine...a bi-partisan effort on behalf of all the taxpayers! Seems like something we can all agree on. If successful, King Kounty will get it's money back...and Ron/Deano will kick a kick in the rump on the way out the door.

It's WIN-WIN Baby!"

I hope someone pursues this.

29. Great news folks!
We have the support of one crabby, obnoxious Leftist from HorsesAss in a lawsuit against Sims & Logan.

Here is the exchange--

9. Roger Rabbit spews:

"@5 I'll support a lawsuit against Sims, Logan, et al. to get the $225,000 back if you'll support a lawsuit against Bush, Cheney, GOP senators and congressmen, Halliburton, et al., to get back the trillions they cost taxpayers. Deal?"

Mr. Cynical's response--

"DEAL!!
Are you filing the lawsuit against Bush et al??
I'll let you know when the lawsuit against Sims is ready so you can support it.
Thanks Rog!"

See, bi-partisanship IS possible.
