With gratitude

I'll wrap up with a few more installments about my recently settled public records lawsuit with King County -- including deposition transcripts and incriminating evidence that came out in discovery.

But first, some important acknowledgements:

* My lawyer, Chip Goss of the Tacey Goss Law Group. He successfully mastered a complex case, boiled down the details into a manageable persuasive argument, and negotiated the final settlement. A healthy share of the settlement goes to Chip and it was very well earned.

* Some good folks with up-close knowledge of King County election administration, who tipped me off that upper management had been covering up mistakes and misconduct in the election and its aftermath. It was only with their many tips and pointers to specific public documents that I was able to uncover the unlawfully counted ballots and other undisclosed fiascos, and otherwise explain how King County counted more votes than voters.

* The volunteers who joined me at the County Archives in late 2005 and early 2007 and spent hours of their time searching for ballot envelopes which would provide proof of illegal votes and other irregularities -- Greg Andrews, Glenn Avery, Toby O'Brien, Dana McWilliams, Doug Timpe, Bob Edelman, Steve Haffner, Troy Beardslee and Mary Lane

* Toby Nixon, for his encouragement, advice on elections and public records laws, and for reviewing evidence and submitting an affidavit in support of my case.

* Armen Yousoufian, for his example, encouragement and advice on public records laws and litigation.

* County Councilmembers who appealed to Dean Logan to release withheld records and avoid litigation; notably Kathy Lambert, Reagan Dunn and Bob Ferguson; I do believe their entreaties persuaded Logan to release some records sooner than he otherwise would have.

* The Evergreen Freedom Foundation for all of their efforts in support of fair and accountable elections, not least of which was publicizing many of my findings.

* The Sam Adams Alliance, for recognizing and encouraging me with their Sunshine Award

* The Sound Politics readers who encouraged me to keep digging for the facts; and especially those who contributed so I could hire Chip Goss to file the lawsuit in 2005. The return from your donation will be put to work in future government accountability efforts.

1. You serve as an example to us all when it comes to dealing with abusive government. Thanks for all your hard work, Shark.

Well Done.

2. Stefan,

Having gone through our own battle with the King County Tower of Babble and basically losing, while winning. You have given hope to many others, that someday King County's government may stand for honesty among its citizens, instead of what it has become to so many.

Keep up the good work, fighting the King County windmill.

3. Absolutely true: About 8 months before the 2004 election---long before discussion of vote fraud was fashionable here in WA state--I became concerned about the integrity of the coming fall election. Feeling limited about what I could physically do about it, I began to regularly pray that vote fraud would be exposed and rooted out, all the way to the election. It is indeed gratifying to see this; though it was not instant, it was not easy (as Stefan found out), and Dino was hurt by the wrongdoing. But I am grateful that this misconduct has finally been brought to light. May it indeed be rooted out and never repeated.

4. Stefan,

Congratulations on a job well done! Now if we could just keep the county from using our tax money to defend their indefensible positions.

5. Congrats, Stefan! In a county desperately in need of transparency, this helps.

6. Let's hope that Coleman takes his challenge to the limits, so that the way we count votes is the same everywhere.

As it stands, if you are a Democrat and in a Democrat district, the counters make all the decisions and those decision favor Democrats, while in R district, the counters make a different set of decisions which also go against the Rs because they count votes different.

Shoeboxes in closets discovered months after an election in a D district? No problem. Count 'em Dano!

Too bad most people don't care. But, don't ever give up.

7. Congrats. At least they know people are now watching. But they just switch to other nefarious methods, such as Obama's laundered illegal credit card donations in 2008.

8. Right about now there are probably a dozen King County employees looking at ways to use emanate domain on all of the properties surrounding Stefan's home so they can build a sewage treatment plant and a half way home for chronic sex offenders.

9. Stefan,

Congratulations. Thank you for your relentless efforts to shine light on the cockroaches that exist in our government. Hopefully, this will serve as a warning that eventually the fraud will catch up to them.

A kudos to all mentioned above as well. I have retained Mr. Goss for delinquent subcontractor issues in which we prevailed and hold him in high regard as well.

12. I have no doubt that Shark will return portions of the settlement to the taxpayers - by reinvesting it in further pursuit of honest and equitable elections.

Congratulations stefan!

13. Stefan,

Way to go. Now maybe to can help get Gregoire tossed out of office. Would be easy to do if you really wanted it; but then some of your GOP buddies would be going down with her.
