Protest tax increases at a Tea Party April 15. Let people in your area know that you don't think tax increases are necessary. There will be over a dozen of them in Western Washington. Some are in the middle of the day; some all day and a few at evening rush hour.
I started to make a list, but Kirby Wilbur has the best list at his Facebook Fan page, link below. In addition, he mentioned the following on the air, but not on this page: Anacortes, Oak Harbor, Port Angeles, Fife. There are probably more pools/buses to Olympia being organized, as well.
Facebook | Kirby Wilbur Show: I think you have to join Facebook to see it.
"Living in a Liberal State Broadcasting Live from the Heart of it's Bluest City, Standing his Ground Since 1993, An Authority on the Issues that Impact Your World, His Core Conservative Values and Lifelong Belief in Liberty are a Northwest Institution."
Update: Whoops. I didn't include the Tea Party events already placed on Sound Events, our community calendar. Check there (in our right column) for added events. Thanks, Tim in the comments.
Olympia - at the Capitol steps at 12 noon - hosted by Evergreen Freedom Foundation
Spokane - outdoors at the Convention Center at 4:30 - Evergreen Freedom Foundation
Seattle - Westlake Park at 4th and Pine St. at 5:45 - Seattle Sons & Daughters of Liberty
Update: An excellent list is at Distributing Knowledge.

Posted by: Insufficiently Sensitive on April 9, 2009 10:26 AMNobody is trying to stop you from holding your "tea parties." Please stop saying you're oppressed when you're clearly not oppressed. You want to have a tea party? Go ahead! Get to it! Take to the streets, pleasantly aromatic baggies in hand!
We've had a president who decided that he could revoke the citizenship of Americans based on his own say-so -- and no conservatives were worried about their loss of rights. We've had a government assert that it could spy on any communications, without warrant or cause -- and no conservatives took to the streets, alarmed at the threat to their Constitutional protections. We found out we went to war over a weapons program that didn't exist -- oops. We found out that we subjected innocent, though brown, people to imprisonment without recourse, and others to torture so cruel that it rendered them mentally incompetent. We buried the nation in a mountain of debt -- well, them's the breaks. We forked over billions of dollars in giveaways to oil companies that were already making larger profits than any other companies in the history of the world -- hell, gotta keep John Galt in caviar. None of it raised a peep from any of you, you were all fine with it. The government could do no wrong -- except not going far enough.
But if returning to the tax policies that existed before Bush is the thing that's got a bee in your bonnet, claiming the end of the republic is at hand -- go for it. If you've suddenly decided that preventing government efforts to stave off a second Great Depression is the thing you're going to hang your collective hats on, or that saving one of the prime manufacturing sectors still left in the country is a bridge too far, by all means protest. Who's stopping you? Who's intimidating you?
On the contrary, the rest of us find your "tea bagging" to be superbly instructive. It's increasing taxes that gets your goat, and absolutely nothing else. The only Constitutional crisis possible is one that might possibly affect your wallet; offenses to other people's freedoms don't rouse a tenth of the same emotion.
And it stands as a dramatic act of solidarity with conservative leaders in government. Bloviate at every opportunity; remain steadfastly in opposition to everything; suggest nothing; claim that it is not even your responsibility to suggest anything. Like House and Senate Republicans, who have declared sitting on their hands to be an act of supreme virtue and who, when pressed, can only come up with a few terse pages of declarations that the only path forward is to give big businesses more tax breaks, and rich Americans more tax breaks, and eliminate even more regulations on financial behavior -- and that will work this time for sure, in spite of those same exact things bringing the country debt and corruption every other time they have been tried, finally leading to this current brink of economic ruin. No, it seems hard to compete with any acts of leadership as impressive as that.
So teabag your little hearts out, my noble friends! Take to the streets, and demand the conservative dream -- absolute inaction on every front! Turn the economic crisis into an opportunity to finally, at long last, give a damn about the actions of your leaders, who we have just now noticed might be of an opposing political party! Yes, take to the streets on behalf of the John Galts of the world: that's what Fox News Corporation has told you to do, and what the stock traders of CNBC demand of you! Take a day off work and wave those little white bags so that an executive responsible for financial crisis will not find their yearly bonus jeopardized by scandalous government intervention, or people making one hundred times your annual income will not be taxed a Stalinesque three percent more (marginal rate) than they presently are! Throw your little pouches of aromatic leaves high into the air, shout your grievances, demand the factories close and the government remain unresponsive, because that's what conservatives everywhere want to see!
By all means.

Posted by: swatter on April 9, 2009 01:13 PMRE: Attend a 4/15 tea party and collect voter sigs for I-1033
April 15th Tea (Taxed Enough Already) parties are popping up in cities all over Washington state. Everyone is feeling the effects of out-of-control government (federal, state, counties, and cities) and citizens are looking for a way to express their horror at what the politicians are doing to our country. Many of you will attend these events and we want to encourage everyone to bring your I-1033 petitions with you to collect voter signatures.
By capping the growth of government and substantially reducing property taxes, I-1033 is a real, tangible, positive response to the politicians' complete abandonment of fiscal responsibility. In our ongoing tug-of-war over taxation, I-1033 gives us all our last, best chance to pull the rope in favor of fiscal sanity and allows the people to gain control of our government.
Thanks to the great folks at Evergreen Freedom Foundation, there's going to be a 'biggie' in Olympia starting at 12 noon on Wednesday, April 15th (for details, contact Amber Gunn at agunn@effwa.org). I'll be given 5 minutes to speak. Obviously, most of my efforts will be focused on the Lower Property Taxes Initiative I-1033 and how it gives us all a chance to fight back against auto-pilot politicians and their total lack of compassion for struggling taxpayers.
And later that day at Westlake Park in Seattle from 5:45pm-7:45pm, because of the hard work of Keli Carender (for details, contact her at redistributingknowledge@gmail.com), another tea party will be going on. I'll also be speaking at that event for 5 minutes and doing everything possible to encourage everyone to gain control of our government with I-1033.
There are many, many other 'tea parties' in cities throughout our state - go to them and collect signatures for I-1033. Let's take full advantage of this opportunity.
We've got just 85 days left to qualify the Lower Property Taxes Initiative I-1033 for the ballot. We need to collect over 2000 sigs PER DAY to make it -- that's really tough. So please donate generously so our campaign can afford to get as many petitions before the voters as possible. 150 days of effort and financial support will earn everyone years of lower property taxes and control over state, county, and city governments. We're counting on you - please help.
Need petitions? Please email me (tell us the quantity and where you want them sent).

Posted by: brasstax on April 9, 2009 02:18 PMThose who post oceans of diarrhoea from their keyboards should know that we evil un-lefties value our time and are happy to skip over and ignore endless paragraphs of... whatever it was - logorrhoea?.
Posted by: Insufficiently Sensitive on April 9, 2009 02:36 PMThe lefties can tear apart Seattle to protest whatever the hell they want, but when we want to have our voices heard, it's always an affront to them.
I think the tea parties are just the beginning. This is going to get much more intense before its all over. A lot of us aren't going to sit on our hands and watch this country destroyed by socialism without a fight.
Posted by: johnny on April 9, 2009 03:08 PMLefties are running scared 75 days in and more corrupted dems have been outted in Comrade Obama's Cabinet appointments then any other time in history....EPIC FAIL 10 trillion and counting
also I think it's first time in history that after 75 days people are already calling for impeachment.
Agreed Johnny not without a fight!

Response: Folks getting signatures for I-1033 are 99% likely to be just fine. Rather than giving the person collecting signatures an interrogation, better to just sign the petition and thank them for taking the time to help the good guys in this critical cause to reign in government excess and protect taxpayers.
Again, if anyone wants petitions, send me an email:

Posted by: Medic/Vet on April 9, 2009 05:16 PMAnyway, this shows more about the character of the right versus the left than anything else. While folks on the left protest against a war undertaken under false pretenses, erosions of civil liberties, and so forth, what does the right protest against? A government that doesn't allow key industries to collapse and decides to restructure the tax code.
Pitiful. Just pitiful.
This is simply conservatives being extremely sore losers. Emphasis on the "losers" part. Yet more proof that you folks simply want the entire planet to turn into a steaming cesspool. But hey... have your fun! The more you act like petulant little babies, the more the electorate in the middle sees that Republicans are simply a morally bankrupt party.
@23: A dog would have raised the average IQ of the Bush cabinet, by the way...

What an arrogant prick The One has turned out to be. Historical ignorance, to boot. (Uh, Turkey is older than the U.S.?!)
Add to the fact that the Democrats in Congress are seriously over-reaching and you have a one term president like Carter. We might even get some seats back mid-term. Let us not forget that Cap & Trade will cost the average home owner somewhere between 3000 and 5000 dollars a year (goverment numbers BTW) and when Jim and Jill Average get wind of that Obama can kiss his ass goodbye.
Oh I almost forgot. Obama's Environmental Lackey wants to shoot sh*t in the air to cool the planet. Woo hoo! These guys are starting to look like The Three Stooges on meth.
And the list gets longer every day. Get smug while you can Demo, it won't be lasting all that long.

How about your Marxist war against Freedom and Liberty and Free Enterprise? Economic liberty is the foundation for all liberties enjoyed, which is why Marxists like you attack it first.
It worked in the USSR, it worked in China, and it worked in Cuba. It worked in Nazi, Germany, too... Marxists and Fascists always seek to immediately control all aspects of the economy as a means of completely controlling the population.
But I wouldn't expect a Marxist Slaver like you to understand why people would be upset...
HOPE AND CHANGE! DISSENT IS PATRIOTIC!

"Acorn, Acorn go away. There is no fraudulant voting today."
Why should the libs get to do all the chanting.
Posted by: Mathew"RennDawg"Renner on April 9, 2009 11:51 PMSome of us are old enough to remember the demolition of the democratic party after the 1994 elections. Now here they are, back and destroying the country again.
I am not sure if the goal of people like "All facts support my Delusions" are really so young and naive that they lack historical perspective or if they are just childishly trying to gloat that they won and election, but either way they will probably live to see that U.S politics is a pendulum and when things swing too far one direction things tend to go the other way.
The GOP isn't gone - and is still competitive in elections. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a shakeup of democratic control as soon as the 2010 elections.
You have really shown your real colors. No kool aid is going to help you.
I hope you get the hope and change you deserve. I just hope the rest of this law abiding country doesn't but.......we all must live together.
Therefore, I can only hope that you will see the brillant yellow of a sunrise over the east coast, and keep that lovely memory long after it sets in the west with the best lavender, blue and mixes of orange. We have one country. We must take a stand. If that means that I get out and wave my little flag, then so be it. I am, after all, a citizen of this great land, and I will, to the best of my ability, defend her. You may say that's really so hokie; well, whatever, that's that.
Ciao
It's a frustrating article because not one lib will ever fact check anything about what Hunter said. NoFacts will blindly quote it and post other crap just to try to bury the fact that this new liberal president is going down the exact same failed path as Carter. Raise taxes, capitulate to foreign interests, weaken our stance by being an apologist and not a leader. You may be able to create money out of nothing and borrow like crazy to try to re-inflate the bubble but it is still just a bubble. All this "new" cash will only devalue the dollar further.
Who gives a crap if the stock market levels or heads up. It's still over valued and inflated. We're screwed. Obama and Geitner are playing a populace game with your great grandkids money. Pump cash continually into our system just ahead of the curve so it looks like we are gaining ground. We aren't and honest people realize this.
I hope I'll be proven wrong, along with all the other nay sayers, but history doesn't look good in that respect.

Apparently YOU do not! "Bush as he violated the constitution on an almost daily basis..."
AGAIN, no facts to support your ranting WHAT violations? Don't have any, do you?
"Somehow taxing billionaires more, who at one time paid a 95% income tax is soooooo wrong in right wing nut world."
Those "billionaires" (I give you credit for spelling it correctly!) are providing jobs to the MIDDLE CLASS - what part of FREE ENTERPRISE do you not understand. You think that GM/Ford/Chrysler have been fueling this economy? Where have you been? Harvard? Yale? Some other commie school? What the Hell!!!! This country is and has always been built on the backs of entrepreneurs; people who spend their own capital, employ people, keep this damn country free, DAMNIT. Get a f&^&^%ing clue. Just WHAT DO YOU DO? And, please, don't tell me you're a lawyer! GAAAAAWD
You are one sick puppy in need of distemper shots.....the only thing saving you is our military coz they are defending the right for your sorry a*^^^ to say what you are saying and that no one is going to show up @ your house @ 2 in the morning to take you to a "re-education camp" or something as wonderful
Thank your lucky stars you live in THIS country (here's hoping it will survive the B Hussein Obama regime)
Oh, and MrRcGuy, not exactly a buddy in the guy sense but still a patriot! Thanks for your input!
You bloody fool, there you go again, Demo-rat kid, spouting the progressive/regressive talking points. Your assertions are lies and you are really the sore loser, when the public pushes back on your portion of the Democrat Party wanting to turn this country into a second world going on third world nation with collectivism and continued irresponsibility. You know the actions of petulant little babies well because you and your ilk acted that way after the 2000 election. You are the epitome of the pot calling the kettle black and have no conscience.
