Obama's Best and Brightest

Michelle Malkin: "Transparency Killer at HUD: Another Disastrous Obama Nominee"

If you need a shining example of the utter disingenuousness of Barack Obama's commitment to government transparency, I have two words for you: Ron Sims.
It has something to do with public records violations, or something.

1. Bravo, Stefan. (and Armen Yousoufian). We look forward to that trial. Boy, do we ever. May justice be done.

2. Hehe. We could have told Malkin ALL about SIms!

3. Obama wasn't lying when he affirmed his commitment to government transparency. It's just that he was referring to making government transparent to criticism.

4. Sounds like Paul Allen's own personal towel boy Sims will fit right in with the Obama administration, which is filled with reprobates and criminals.

With regard to the claim of "transparency", it reminds me of that expression used by arrogant people like ObaMagoo when they get caught cheating red handed and then ask "Who are you going to believe, Me...or your lying eyes?". Of course, he doesn't have to ask this question, he has his lapdogs in the press do it for him.

5. We would expect nothing less than strick adhesion to sound and good home training. You know sort of like when our POTUS 'bows' to the King of Saudi Arabia. POTUS Bowing To Saudi Arabia

6. Seems to me that Ron Sims exactly fits the criteria of the current Executive.

Plus, Ron will get a fine exposure to the diversity of the Chicago brand of politics, and the use of gangs of street thugs in enforcing cutting-edge social policies - if he wasn't already using such resources in King County. The massive disinterest by the Seattle Times and the former P-I in Sims' organization and methods would have allowed him secure cover for plenty of questionable exploits.

7. FLASH! NEWS REPORT
The Obama's have apparently chosen a dog!

Posted by: Judas on April 8, 2009 07:01 AM
8. Question is. Will said dog be current on his/her taxes.

Posted by: Judas on April 8, 2009 07:05 AM
9. I wonder if the Obama's will choose fighting dogs and have dawg fights like Michael Vick?

10. The Malkin piece was terrific. Not necessarily because it informed we the locals of anything we didn't already know about Sims (although it was well worth the read, to be reminded again how egregious the violations by Sims & Co. were over a period of many years); but because this gets the story out to a much wider audience at the right time.

Here's a thought: At least some of the key (R) staff people in Congress must read Malkin pretty regularly. What are the chances some of the minority staff people for the Congressional committee that will handle the Sims confirmation hearing could get together with Stefan and Armen Yousoufian; and get them in to testify in front of the committee during the confirmation hearing ??... Wouldn't THAT be a show worth watching:
Stefan and Armen on CSPAN and maybe even snippets on Fox and CNN; laying out the whole sad, sordid, and outrageous violations and malfeasance of Sims and his whole stonewalling crew....
Yeah: You bet I would watch that.

11. Ken,

Fantastic idea. Send Stefan to DC. Expose Sims as the cover up artist.

Posted by: Jeff B. on April 8, 2009 09:59 AM
12. How about it, Stefan:
Up 4 a trip back to the D.C. ''shark tank'' (pun intended) ??

Of course somebody would have to pay your expenses. I'm retired, but I might kick in a few bucks to a groundswell of support to send you and/or Armen back to D.C.; if you could go and committee staff would give some reasonable pre-assurance that you would be allowed to testify (likely the (D)s running the committee would want to prevent same, but IIRC the minority has at least some ability to identify and add a few witnesses to the list of those who will testify).

Just thinking out loud here......:
How about it, faithful SP readers:

Will anyone else join Jeff B. and me in agitating for Stefan and/or Armen to get on the Sims confirmation hearing witness list ??... it sure would be sweet if it could happen.

13. @5 On O'Reilly last night, he said the White House spokesmouth denied that Obama bowed to the Saudi King. They said he was bending over to shake his hand. Whatever. It's like the Supreme Court definition of pornography. I know it when I see it.

14. Have you people lost it? If you send Stefan or Armen to DC, there's a chance (albeit a small one) that he might not get confirmed. And that would mean he'd take his job back here. NO. NO. NO.

Posted by: Palouse on April 8, 2009 10:41 AM
15. And let's not forget the ever popular CAO land grab that was also found to have overstepped legal bounds.

Posted by: Burdabee on April 8, 2009 11:43 AM
16. WRT comment by Palouse @ #14:
My sincerest sympathy for the plight of the poor suffering citizens of the SSR of KC (at least those who pay taxes instead of living on the government doll or payroll). But I have to respectfully submit the case of ''the greater good''.... and note (unfortunately) that there are likely a long line of Simms ''understudies'' ready and willing to take his place and continue his policies; i.e.:
KC is likely to be stuck either way. I know that stinks, but it's reality.

And then WRT Burdabee @ #15:
Good point: The KC CAO was just as bad and (in some ways) even worse.

17. #13: LOL~ When I go to shake someone's hand, I always contort my body into a 90 degree angle, too. (not)

Posted by: Michele on April 8, 2009 12:56 PM
18. "A Wisconsin man has acknowledged that he illegally cast an absentee ballot for Barack Obama in his wife's name...."

Oh, but there's no chance for vote fraud with mail ballots, is there?? Ron Sims assured us everything would be fine.
Yah, right.

19. #14 Palouse is exactly right. Remember the story (Mark Twain) about the two brothers; one became a Sea Captain and the other became Vice President and neither was ever heard from again. That is my hope for Sims; he is swallowed up in the great maw that is DC and we never hear from him again.

You people are deluding yourselves if you think he will be effective (and by that I mean do bad things not good), he will get lost in the multitude of small people with big titles. Whereas, staying here he really can screw stuff up. Everybody keep real, real quiet and hope he slides on through.

Now all we need is someone better then him to take his place (how hard can that be?)

20. Well this is interesting...

Former KIRO news anchor, Susan Hutchison, has just announced that she's running for King County Executive, to replace the departing Simbecile.

Posted by: Smoley on April 8, 2009 02:39 PM
21. I know Susan Hutchison, I worked with her at KIRO. This is not a good thing. We can do better.

Posted by: The Duke on April 8, 2009 02:43 PM
22. Susan! WTF Happened?

Posted by: KIROQueen on April 8, 2009 02:47 PM
23. WHOA! Anyone see a likeness to Ed Muskie?

Posted by: Avid on April 8, 2009 02:52 PM
24. @16 Ken - the 'greater good' is what directly affects me and my family. And there's no question that Sims does more harm to that group as KC executive than he does at HUD. HUD is already a bloated, corrupt mess. He'll fit right in. Good riddance.

Posted by: Palouse on April 8, 2009 03:10 PM
25. WTF ? He should fit right in. We don't want Sims back here. He is a mere boil on the buttocks of the most frivolous spending Administration in US History.

Posted by: KS on April 8, 2009 09:00 PM
26. Yea--and maybe we can send Dean Logan to DC to be "The Count" like in Sesame Street--counting the census, votes, homeless, illegal aliens or whatever...

NW offloading its best to DC...but careful, folks...they're not gone, not forgotten---anyone watch a boomerang?
