A final thought on the discussion of Dave Reichert below on the main page: why do the netroots and some other arms of the left keep earnestly insisting that Dave Reichert is some sort of partisan-minded fool?
Jim Miller pointed out in comment #3 at the aforementioned post that independent rankings like those of the National Journal keep scoring Reichert in the middle. You can view the 2008 rankings here. In the interactive graphics one can see that only 16 House Republicans ranked as less conservative than Reichert - who scores right next to former Republican Congressman Ray LaHood, currently Obama's Secretary of Transportation.
Meanwhile, in the 2008 election, Reichert won the endorsement of the WEA & NEA while convincing the Sierra Club not to endorse the Democratic candidate. This despite the fact the Eastside suburbs have been a repeatedly fertile battleground for environmentalists inflicting electoral pain on Republicans in recent election cycles.
Finally, the coup de grace to the "No, Dave Reichert really is an evil, down-the-line Republican" meme is this:
As soon as someone can produce for me the long list of conservatives endorsed by the P-I in the last decade, I'll be glad to give the idea that Dave Reichert somehow isn't a moderate some greater consideration.

Any ability to continue to maintain their Potemkin Village world-view absolutely REQUIRES the continuation of that set-aside of objective reality. Doing otherwise would initiate a collapse of the whole house of cards.
Here's a depressing FFTD (Factoid For The Day):
Guess who the NJ ranked as the #1 most LIBERAL Senator in 2008; more (L) than Barbara Boxer and all the other (D) usual suspects; who had the ''distinction'' of getting a ZERO rating from the (C) perspective on BOTH Economic and Foreign policy:
Our very own NOT-sharpest-crayon-in-the-box Patty Murray....
Can't we give her to another State ??
PLEASE ??
Also interesting, if you sort the NJ US Senate data by the ''Rank (L)'' column:
It shows that only 3 (D)s are lower (less (L)) than the most (L) (R) - Olympia Snowe; and only ONE (D) is less (L) than the 2 most (L) (R)s - Snowe and seat-mate Susan Collins:
Evan Bayh of ID (who is right in the middle of the list).
There's no such thing as too liberal or too socialist, or even too communist to the Democrats right now.
Posted by: Reality on March 10, 2009 12:22 PMDuring the 2008 election the left portrayed Reichert as being "just like George W. Bush" which was a national and very effective strategy. They used the same exact ads against all Republican candidates, including Dino Rossi.
The left doesn't care about honesty, decency, or traditional values. They care about socialism, power, and the joy they get telling people how to live their lives.
Are those "Critical Mass" bicycle riding creeps that block traffic downtown every month conservatives?
I think we all know the answer. They are simply more evidence of the kinds of rotten people that populate the left.
Posted by: Bill Cruchon on March 10, 2009 01:12 PMWe get these e-mails from the Seattle Public Library. They are always about readings from liberal authors celebrating liberal causes. You'll never get an e-mail about the latest book from Michael Medved, or Bernard Goldberg.

This is how liberals are. They lie when they claim they support "diversity". They lie when they pretend to be "open minded". They are closed minded, controlling thought police. Their aim is to brainwash children. They are doing a darned good job of it.
