More On Gary Locke's Ethical Problems

From Michelle Malkin.   Here's a sample:

And then there were Locke's not-so-squeaky-clean fundraising trips to a Buddhist temple in Redmond, Wash., which netted nearly $14,000 from monks and nuns — many of whom barely spoke English, couldn't recall donating to Locke, or were out of the country and could never be located.  Of the known temple donors identified by the Locke campaign, five gave $1,000 each on July 22, 1996 — paid in sequentially ordered cashier's checks.  Two priests gave $1,000 and $1,100 respectively on Aug. 8, 1996.  Three other temple adherents also gave $1,000 contributions on Aug. 8.   Internal campaign records show that two other temple disciples donated $2,000 and $1,000 respectively on other dates.  State campaign finance investigators failed to track down some of the donors during their probe.

Malkin has much more, as you might expect.

And there is the curious case of the live-in brother-in-law.

It is troubling that so many of our "mainstream" news organizations now find these parts of Locke's history unfit to print.

1. Malkin HAS to take these shots...it's on her agenda. Truth is Locke is the best appointment that POTUS Obama has made to date (except for his decision to maintain Secy of Defense). Malkin simply carrying the water she was given. :)

2. Here's a difference between republicans and democrats on display right here: republicans are worried about $14,000? That's not even a new car!

Bill Clinton accepts millions of foreign (i.e.: illegal) campaign contributions - no problem. He accepts highly questionable millions for his "library" - no problem. Harry Reid arranges for millions in taxpayer dollars to build bridges to property he owns in Hemorrhoid, NV, thereby quintupling (at least) the value of said property - no problem. Dianne Feensteen steers BILLIONS of dollars worth of government no-bid contracts to her husband's corporations - no problem. (Cunningham stole a million - he's in jail?) Nancy Pelosi shoves through a minimum wage raise for everybody in the US, except for people working for Starkist Tuna (in her district) and for her husband in AMerican Samoa - no problem.

And somebody's worried about something a republican did that isn't even the price of a new car?

5. Compared to Sen. Gregg's issued this is downright ethical. =P

6. The News Tribune's Beth Silver broke the Safe Harbor story. I believe the Times broke the Buddhist Temple story. I assume both are considered "mainstream" media.

7. Duffman,

Citing Locke as "the best appointment" Obama has made only re-affirms the disgracefully low caliber of his previous cabinet appointments.

And P/I, Times, etc.: Michelle Malkin is demonstrating how to commit journalism. Features such as this are referred to as investigative reporting...otta try it sometime...sure beats bankruptcy.

8. Cato - what was Senator Gregg's issue?

9. "Truth is Locke is the best appointment that POTUS Obama has made to date."

Wow, #1 , throwing your girl, the SOS, under the bus already? I must say I'm pleasantly surprised by that admission.

10. #9 Not quite yet...but to me that appointment was a given...pay back time; I would only throw her under the bus if she turns agains Isreal. I could NOT tolerate that. :)

11. Crusader, this is the first and last time I'm going to do your homework for you. In the future look it up yourself.

12. I would agree that Gary Locke was a decent appointment. It remains to be seen how Mrs. Clinton will respond toward Israel.
Wait and see - and that is the attitude I'll take on the POTUS at this time. Even though, my opinion of Hillary was not that good last year, I'd have to say that she will be more effective than the previous SOS.

Face it, the Republicans have lost alot of cred (Bob Brinker echoed that statement on Money Talk today) after their out of control spending when they controlled the White House and Congress. They had 6 years to change that, but did not and unfortunately, that is part of the reason that this country is in deep doo-doo. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction; The Dems are doing what it was perceived that the Republicans got away with in those six years, only they are making a more concerted effort for big government and we the people get screwed.

13. The story on the brother-in-law being floated around the Net and at Malkin's site is from Seattle Weekly, which followed up at length on the TNT story. It's rich in detail and should raise a flag about Locke.

14. He's really scraping the bottom of the barrel with Locke. Must be desparate.
