Taking Chance

I just finished watching Taking Chance on HBO. The movie was every bit as respectful and moving as I hoped it would be. I recommend it to anyone who wants a better understanding of the sacrifices made by our troops and their families.

For those who don't know the story of the film, here is the original post on Blackfive of the article by Lt. Col. Michael Strobl on which the film is based.

1. Rupert Murdoch didn't want the movie to come out

2. I had no idea that our fallen heroes are given such care. I have such respect for those that prepare them for their final journey and those that accompany them home. This movie is a "must see" for all. Kudos to Kevin Bacon for his outstanding performance. Make sure you have the Kleenex close at hand.

3. HBO sometimes surprises me. Their treatment of this story is one of those time.

5. Taking Chance...I now know what my oldest son went through bringing his brother home from Iraq in October 2006 and then his Sergeant 4 months later. My eyes are red and my heart aches. Thank you HBO for bringing this story to those who do not understand the sacrifice made by soldiers and their families.

7. I'm maybe a 3rd of the way through and I have to quit reading. I'm at work, and generally try not to cry on the clock. I'll finish it later.

And I second Michael H... anyone know when it may be released on DVD/Blu-Ray?

Susan... condolences on your loss, and thank you for your son's service
