No, I don't mean Zach Silk, the 2006 Darcy Burner campaign manager who - damnit - performed well as Gregoire's Deputy Campaign Manager in 2008. I mean former Slade Gorton staffer Bill McSherry, pulled away from the Puget Sound Regional to serve as a temporary adviser to the Governor on aerospace issues.
Bill has his work cut out for him. The competitiveness of the state's business climate remains a huge issue for Boeing. Moreover, frustration with the repeated strikes of the Machinists Union is an increasingly prominent point of concern for the company as well. To emphasize that challenge, Boeing recently received a public tongue-lashing from a major customer who was not amused by the impact of the Machinists' strike.
So, good luck, Bill.
