Sherril Huff keeps lying to cover up her election screw-ups and partisan politics

Sherril Huff sent out this last-minute campaign flyer. The lies in the flyer are as desperate as they are pathetic. But the pattern of dishonesty is sadly familiar.

The flyer claims that Huff "administered 21 error-free elections since 2004". Those are all of the elections that have been held in King County since 2004. She was merely an assistant director for most of those, and has been the director for only 7 elections. Error-free? Baloney. The list of errors is long. Like the bungled 2006 recount that she lied about at the time and lied about again when pressed earlier this week. And the accounting errors from the most recent election that she keeps lying about.

Huff also lies about having "True Nonpartisan Credentials". But Huff is the only candidate in the race who actively campaigns claiming allegiance to a political party and its platform.

1. Congrats on having the Times pick up the 2006 problems. This is a real issue - just hope enough voters take it into account.

Great work for continuing to get out the real record, Stefan.

3. Does the County Council "supervise" elections? Does the Canvassing board "supervise" elections?

If these bodies do, what's the point in electing a third "supervisor"?

4. I am so sick of this crap. I don't know how the county can accurately record licenses, marriage certificates, permits, taxes, etc and find the resources to go after you if YOU make a mistak. Yet they are so cavalier and sloppy with our ballots, the most important item for a free society. Who ever the new Elections Director turns out to be, he will be held accountable. Not that Seattle voters know enough to ever vote someone out of office for screwing up.
