Posted by Jim Miller at December 20, 2008 07:30 AM | Email ThisI tried to buy lamp oil at Fred Meyers and Lowes yesterday, both were out.
It it currently 5 degrees in Sultan, the coldest I've ever seen here. Where's AlGore when you need him?
Good Luck.
Posted by: Sultan of Swing on December 20, 2008 08:23 AMLike Jim said in thread start, if you're in that area and not ready to survive on your own for a while without power, you're getting close to too late..... Somehow I'm also reminded again of the old saying: ''No civilization is more than 3 meals from a revolution''.... or; perhaps more aptly in this case: From disaster.
Posted by: Methow Ken on December 20, 2008 08:38 AMSIDEBAR: Meanwhile, over here in the Methow Valley: As of 07:00 this morning, Mazama is reporting 15 degrees BELOW zero still air temp.

Fire up the stove honey, it's going to be a long weekend!
I have 60 gallons of diesel in my transfer tank for the generator, 4 cords of dry fir in the woodshed and am stocked with food for a month. What storm?
Stay safe, friends, and please help neighbors who may have no place else to go.
Posted by: Saltherring on December 20, 2008 11:01 AMThis morning I did get an acceptable, though very brief, video of a hummer, which I will try to post later, maybe tomorrow.
Hope your neighbor is doing well. This kind of weather can be tough on older people
Posted by: Jim Miller on December 20, 2008 12:20 PMWind? Wind! We're getting WIND?? Call Barry!
And please remember tomorrow is a very important date ...take to to celebrate!
Posted by: Ragnar Danneskjold on December 20, 2008 01:21 PMWhat did she need at the store? Ice cream. An active, amazing woman whom I saw this fall pick up the heavy steel hand truck she uses to haul yard waste with one arm. Just the same I'd rather not see her driving her station wagon on these icy side streets.
Just starting to get the tiniest first few flakes of snow here but not a bit of wind. We've been watching the barometer and it's been rising since last night. That makes me think perhaps we aren't going to get a big blizzard at least in Seattle. Could likely be an entirely different story if you live in Enumclaw, or Monroe.
Posted by: Bill Cruchon on December 20, 2008 03:06 PMseriously, take care & best to you folk; #10--nice touch with the neighbor--concerned folk who DO things work waaay better than a "hope-n-change" diatribe; and--best to our SP Friends in Spokane--

I's cool wid it.
Posted by: Hinton on December 20, 2008 07:21 PMYou're probably right about the Anna's Hummingbird. We have Anna's, Black Chin, and (in the summer) Rufus Hummingbirds.
Somewhere we have a picture of six hummingbirds on one feeder. If I can find that I'll send it to you.
Posted by: Obi-Wan on December 20, 2008 10:47 PMHe WAS supposed to leave Minneapolis at 5:25pm ... took off 12:57am ... and gets home to Seattle over SEVEN HOURS LATE!... hopefully at new scheduled time of 2:41am ... if they can land with snow and wind.
It's still snowing here in the eastern foothills.
Posted by: Ragnar Danneskjold on December 20, 2008 11:18 PMI drove out the Snoqualmie Casino last night and it wasn't bad. Most people were driving around 50mph on I-90 and seemed to know what they were doing.
I have some Christmas shopping to do at Bellevue Square before the Seahawks game today and I'm not looking fwd to a bunch of "mall mommas" on the roads that might not know how to drive in snow. All it takes is one accident in that area and it will be gridlocked.
Posted by: Smoley on December 21, 2008 10:29 AMIf you are all out of snow, I am quite sure Mr Obama can send you some. I hear he was real good at snow "blow" back in the day.
