Huskies And Cougars

On this one, I would like some help from fans:  How well have the Husky and Cougar football teams done since 2005?

Why 2005?  That's when Christine Gregoire became governor.  And the UW and WSU are both public universities, so she is at least partly responsible for their successes, and for their failures.

(My apologies for not bringing up this important issue earlier, but I didn't think of it until just before the election.)

1. Are you ******* retarded? You are aware that the UW Athletic Department has its own private funding source and thus doesn't have the same funding pool as does, say the UW College of Arts and Sciences or WSU's Graduate School.

(Edited for taste - jrm. Let's remember to keep the site family friendly.)

2. You nailed it. Had Dino Rossi been elected 1st time around it's likely the Dawgs and/or Cougs would be vying for National Championship now, instead of statistically the bottom of the heap in practacilly every known college football category. It's definitely all HER fault!!! :)

3. Wow - this has to be the height of stupidity. Are you actually suggesting the governor has ANYTHING to do with the football teams?

Guess she takes credit then for the #1 womens X-country at the UW.

You know, some things are just to stupid to print - and that is your blog.

4. Apparently some people are born without a sarcasm gene.

5. I have a sneaking suspicion Jim is making a point about the absurdity of blaming government executives... or giving them credit... for things they really have no power over.

Shhhh. Let them continue to make fools of themselves (while using taxpayer funded e-mail accounts in the process).

7. Jim, Jim, Jim....didn't you know that the failure of the Huskies and Cougars the last four years was Bush's fault?

8. I never cease to be amazed at the lack of any sense of humor or sarcasm there seems to be on the left. Everything is taken 100% literally.

I wonder if all those smart genetic researchers at UW or WSU could make a project out of isolating exactly which gene it is that is apparently absent on the left (besides the common sense one, of course).

9. Thanks Jim, for once again proving that liberal's (commenters) lack the humor gene.

11. I've heard that Darcy Burner likes college football so much, that she got a degree in it.

12. I've always noticed that one of the many unpleasant characteristics of modern leftists is they all appear have undergone a humor-ectomy.

In honor of the topic and the upcoming "Bowl of Losers",(formerly known as the Apple Cup), I offer my favorite Apple Cup joke:

Q. How do you keep a Husky fan from drinking too much?

A. You slam the lid on his head.

13. Clearly a 7,000 point bailout backage from the Federal Government is needed here.

14. c'mon, everyone knows its Bush's fault. sheesh

15. Here's a cheer stolen from a teen movie but appropos for if Huskies happen to lose to the Cougars.
Huskies to Cougars: "That's alright, that's okay; you're gonna pump our gas someday!"

16. You've got raw guts! So you know the truth, too. I remember the first time I saw it: Gregoire sitting on the sidelines, sadistic grin on her face, waiting until the game came her way, then raising that wire and tripping the -- oh, no! No! NO! NOOOOO! Yargh!

17. This is too funny...back in Spring of 2005 Gov. Chris Greg"whore" gave the commencement address to the graduates at WSU. Several accounting grads each placed a letter on the top of their cap that spelled out ACCOUNTING. This of course to tell the audience attending the graduation where the School of Accounting was. When Gov. Greg"whore" took the stage the students with the ACCOUNTING changed seats to reveal COUNT AGAIN. There is a pic of this from the seats while the Governor is speaking that is all too funny. As far as the football teams are concerned, they just suck PERIOD! And you can't blame Bush because before 2005 WSU had it's best years in Football...now the basketball team you can totally blame on Bush!!!

18. Joshua... Our 2nd Coug graduated that day. It was HYSTERICAL.

Everyone knows dawgs turn puke purple at though thought of being eaten by a COUGAR!

19. This is correct. Also, ever since Lisa Brown became Senate Head, the Whitworth Pirates have been awesome. Coincidence? Absolutely not.

20. And here all the time I've been blaming Rick New-Weasel.

21. So, how much are the scalpers PAYING people to take tickets to the Toilet Bowl (formerly known as the Apple Cup) off their hands?

22. Ummmmm...it IS Governor Hedges...errr...Gregoire's fault. Pullman State University of Agriculture & Tobacco Spit sucks again? Oh please, they should be in the WAC. Next.

25. Our Menopausal Matriarchy is not concerned with silly dinosaur games like football. We have many more important issues on our agendas.....like more welfare programs, homosexual marriage, government-funded abortion and indoctrinati...er, educating our children on the lesbian/feminist cultural 'awakening'.

26. How bad is Huskies' football? I saw an ad selling two tickets for this Saturday's game against UCLA for $20. The face value of a single ticket was said to be $53.

Posted by: DopioLover on November 13, 2008 02:54 PM
27. At least the Cougs have an enthusiastic and energetic alumni as head coach. Given a bit of time, he will do fine in recruiting, and results.

Huskies??? Well, Notre Dame FIRED Willingham for lack of performance. Then, in infinite wisdom, the ever vigilant and politically correct UW AD hired a loser, from who knows where, with not much of a record, but correct color. End result? Affirmative action at it's best-brutally insulting outcome to it's victims. Hmm, sounds like a recent election.....

Let us pray that the UW does not go through 3 decades of losing, like both Oregon schools did.

Oops, should not pray.........fool that I am...

Steaming Montlake Dump.

And you idiots want Olympia to pony up 300 million for Husky Stadium renovations. Wet dreams are, well, wet dreams.

28. Let's see, who spent all the money we had...The GOP. Who spent all the money we didn't have...The GOP. Who didn't veto a single spending bill till the Democrats took power? George W. Bush. What do we have to show for all that GOP spending? Nothing substantial as far I can tell.

Seriously, the President/Gov. is supposed to be the sensible one and veto stuff that seems excessive. Neither the Wash. State Gov. or Dubya did this and now we're all paying for it. At least under Gregoire some poor/middle class kids get their health care paid for. Something that their parents can't afford now that they've lost thier jobs. Other than that there hasn't been much progress on the state level.
