Dear Darcy,

UPDATE: per now Seattle Weekly reporter Don Ward in the comments, Darcy Burner did finally make the concession call today. Good for her.

If you haven't already done so, could you just please make that concession call to Dave Reichert already?

At the risk of being brutally honest, allow me to point out that while you're a delightfully eager and earnest candidate, you did come off as a bit immature amidst the storm of the last couple weeks . Be an adult and pick up the phone already. Your long-term reputation - including in that of the 4th Estate - will be better for it.

Sincerely,

Eric

1. She will never be gracious enough to call the person who bested her. I mean come on -- check out her website's "photos" of the candidate: http://www.darcyburner.com/video/photos/photo_gallery/

each one is a posed glam shot of Darcy B. This, plus her completely narcissistic response to her lie about her diploma just confirms that these past four years have not been about her desire to improve things for the citizens of the 8th -- but rather her desire to have everyone's attention on Darcy, Darcy, Darcy! Bizarre.

2. When in 2004 -- after a Republican Secretary of State certified her election -- did Dino Rossi call to concede to Governor Chris Gregoire? Or was it in 2005, after a Republican judge in a Republican county re-certified her election (having deleted the illegal votes Rossi received from felons)? Please do inform me, as I seem to have forgotten.

5. Her utter lack of grace and good manners should make a terrific ad next time around.

Hey classless: get your butt out here and collect these damned signs of yours that are trashing the landscape. THE ELECTION IS OVER. They are now LITTER.

Boy, that's a pet peeve of mine.

Candidates/campaigns should be required to have ALL signs removed from public property by the end of the week following an election or face escalating fines from the city/county that has to remove them. Citizens who remove them and bring them to the city/county should share part of the fine proceeds.

GET THE DAMNED SIGNS DOWN!

6. Awesome. I've since moved from the area fleeing the hippy tide, but it's nice to see that some hippies are too absurd even for voters in Western Washington.

Maybe now she can go back to law school, where when she misses an issue during a test, she can blame it on a right-wing faculty not understanding what she ACTUALLY meant to write in the blue book...

From her website at http://www.darcyburner.com/

Thank You for Your Support

It is likely at this point that Congressman Reichert has won re-election, and while we will certainly ensure that every valid vote is counted, we accept the decision of the voters.

While not as gracious as a public announcement, it is perhaps the most we might expect from someone with an "economics" degree from Harvard.

9. The Darcy Burner campaign was one of the sleaziest in State history exceeded only by the the Queen who took her opponent to court during the last week. Both ran endless character assassinations and redefined (lied about) their opponents positions early and often. Dave Reichert can only hope she tries again in 2010 before the Democrats find a likable candidate! His biggest threat then will be Congressional redistricting boards. Gerrymandering the district for Darcy is a political certainty.

10. ODE TO DARCY,

For all of you read this post, Darcy Burner now is TOAST.

Darcy Bruner FYI, that's what happens when you lie.

Dave has beat you fair and square, go take Henry to the fair.

For all of us, I'd like to say. pease just Darcy GO AWAY!

CONGRATULATIONS DAVE!!!!!!!!!!!

11.
10 - "Go away?" The absolute best thing that could happen for Republicans in the 8th CD is if Heidi Burner...er, I mean, Darcy Burner, were to run again in 2010. She'd get the Dem nomination because there are still thousands of east coast and Seattle netrooters who will give her money. No local funded Democrat can compete with her. The only question is "will she run again"?

Imagine though if Darcy doesn't run, and the Dems nominate a candidate in 2010 who has actually accomplished something significant in public or private service (working a few years as a low level manager at MSFT is hardly a unique accomplishment - there are thousands of past and present Microsoft workers both smarter than Darcy and who held positions of greater responsibility that her, of course)? Reichart could be in trouble then... CD 8 Obama voters (like me) might well have voted for a qualified Democrat.

So, if you are Republican, I'm thinking you should be saying "RUN DARCY RUN!" not "GO AWAY DARCY!".

12. Got off the horn with Reichert's and Burner's campaign spokespeople.

Burner phoned Reichert Sunday evening at around 6:45 p.m. to wish him luck in his third term. Reichert commended Burner on the effort she put into the race.

18. I'm willing to bet Darcy is already packing her bags to leave the district. It's too embarassing to stay! ALL that MONEY...In an election where the Dems won EVERYTHING else.

PS. You sucked at Microsoft too. A high IQ doesn't give you the right to be constantly distracted and lazy. And, I'm sorry, but you are not always right. Hard to beleive, I know.

Posted by: Tom on November 10, 2008 11:59 AM
19. What Darcy Burner doesn't understand is that at least for now the 8th district is at most 48% radical leftist and that's the ceiling. In fact, the 8th district has older demographics(see Trilogy and expanding retirement communities in the 8th) and Burner's prospects diminish in 2010. The only Democrat that will win this district will be the one that runs as a moderate with no connection to the KosKidz.

20. @18: Really? The GOP is poised to pick up seats in the state house, the AG is GOP, etc.

21. I did take a flier over to Darcy's site and checked out her photo gallery. Ha, ha, ha. The one that killed me was her in a grocery store wearing that perfectly pressed black suit handing a loaf of bread to two "constituents". What a chuckle. Reminds me of the staged shots in her ads, microphones and legal pads aplenty attesting to her importance. No sound track of course but it sure made her look important. Handing bread to a couple of dim bulb "supporters" must be her idea of how to show how she "helps" the little people.

Glad she's gone for now. She also needs to get a smaller trowel to apply makeup.

23. It's Reichert's fault that Darcy hadn't called him earlier. She posted this comment on Seattle Weekly's blog:

"Unfortunately, Congressman Reichert has not answered the number that Amanda Halligan gave us, nor did he bother to set up the voicemail on his phone to make it possible for me to leave him a message wishing him well in his next term".

True to form. Good Riddance.

24. Give Obama and the democrats two years of tax hiking, 8%-10% unemployment, and a deepening recession, and Reichert will be a shoe in for 2010 and beyond.

25. Darcy Burner: "while we will certainly ensure that every valid vote is counted, we accept the decision of the voters."

Does anyone else besides me find it odd that a candidate for U.S. Congress finds it necessary to say she will "accept the decision of the voters"? I mean, what choice does she have? What else was she thinking, that she might *not* accept the decision of the voters? What would that look like, could someone ask her? Why bother to state that she will "accept" something, that is out of her hands? It's as thought she wants to be a control-freak even in losing.

Maybe someone else can analyze this further, but it seems 'telling' of much, to me. E.g., most losing candidates say in their concession speech: "I respect the will of the voters." Or: "I wish Cong. Reichert the very best." But Darcy is sullen, petulant, bitter.

Next thing you know, she'll pop up all bright-eyed again, declaring she is running yet again. Please? :-)

I'm glad that Joan McCarter and the DailyKos mob who fed Darcy's ego are petty tyrants, and do not choose candidates who reflect the 8th CD's constituency. May Darcy run again in 2010!

But to answer your silly question: Rossi didn't concede until June 6,2005 when the courts ruled that is was okay to have fraudulent votes counted...or there weren't fraudulent votes...or however Helmet Hair told them to rule. So, it would have been kind of silly for him to call and congratulate her since she's been acting in her appointed position as Alleged Governor for 6 months, dontcha think?

Darcy's husband left Microsoft to care for their young son while she campaigned. They were both in the tech sector in the late nineties so they probably had substantial savings and stock wealth from the halcyon days of software.

Ameslaker, I thought you were done posting. Having dealt with Darcy on a daily basis for a year, she got on my nerves too, but your rage and resentment is unhealthy. (I too was at the receiving end of some really condescending behavior and was shocked because I'd never experienced anything quite like it)But now that she will not be representing your district, you might want to let it all go. It's not worth it.

What you construe as unhealthy on my part, may be true. However, I have a desire to keep this woman out of any position of power. That desire is based upon my very soon to be mandated by a judge loss of property rights due to Darcy Burner. It's a little more than getting on my nerves. But you are right. 41. Just to clarify Ameslaker, I wasn't suggesting that you never post ANYTHING again on Sound Politics. I was just saying that the Darcy fixation may not be worth it any longer because there is no chance she is ever going to serve in Congress on your behalf.

A close friend of mine lost her job because of Gregoire's dishonesty while in the AG's office. Her resentment and hatred of Gregoire consumed her. And when Gregoire was elected to Gov, she just about had a nervous breakdown because of the injustice. So my suggestion wasn't because I don't want to hear anymore vitriol regarding Darcy (although even though I think the district is better off that she wasn't elected, I do feel a little bad for her because of all of the nastiness. But then I remind myself that her campaign was pretty nasty and the attacks on Reichert were ugly as well) but because I've watched what happens when someone cannot let go of resentment toward a public figure seeking power. In my friends case, it is tragic that she lost her livelihood for the sake of Gregoire's run for the governor's mansion. However, that tragedy is compounded because she has spent the last five years angry and bitter and unable to move on.

According to Seattle Weekly today, Darcy is rumored to be interested in running for King County Elections Director. Wouldn't that be special, having such a partisan running that operation. 44. Mary @ #25:
Well, I noticed Ms. Burners ". . . we accept the decision of the voters." and thought the same as you but it seems that the Demorats always speak this way and considering the folks who log-on here I figured they saw it too. One of Obama's assigns the other day said that Obama will be "Ready to rule on day one." When did American presidents start "ruling"? Nary a peep from any old-line media source that supported that empty suit fraud.

These are the small little slips that betray the true mindset of these people. And it shows how dangerous they really are. They play the game right out of Marx and Engels, hiding their true intent (try this: http://mezzanineview.com/mzv/Archives/politics00012.html for a nice little unintentional tribute to Che) and few see the truth. That scares me. The next step will be the "Fairness Doctrine" and then Obama's "Civilian Security Force". Do you have your Obama button? You'll need it. I got mine.

Like I have repeatedly said, if liberal Demorats told the truth, nobody would vote for them. So they don't and the press is running a "don't ask, don't tell" policy, so no help there.

We are on our own folks.

46. ameslaker@43,

Burner running for KC Elections Director, eh? I could certainly see that if the 8th CD election were closer. She most likely would have lost through a recount and then whined that some sort of shenanigans were taking place for Reichert to be able to win in a district whose majority voted for Obama. She'd use that loss as a reason for cleaning up fraud in King County elections (yeah, right).

Better, polish up the resume, Darcy. Heck, Dave Reichert is probably better qualified over Burner for this job too.

I'd actually like to see Toby Nixon get this job, should he choose to run for it. He had a big part in getting this issue on the ballot that created the position. Darcy Burner on the other hand... well, we already know her "qualifications".

Posted by: Smoley on November 11, 2008 02:30 PM

Posted by: Crusader on November 11, 2008 03:15 PM
49. Well, If she does run this could be a case of "careful what you wish for". You know a democrat will win this position because it is King County, now, because we had one hack running the joint in 04, we may get an even bigger hack now. You think Burner would fairly administer the role? Hell no, she would make sure a D got elected so she could make a name for herself and get a bigger job in the Democratic party. Just to mention her name is dangerous.

Posted by: jk on November 11, 2008 03:32 PM
50. jk - if all that is true then it's all over and we might as well give up. There is no point in fighting the useless fight.

Posted by: Crusader on November 11, 2008 03:49 PM
51. @49,

What Burner and any other far-lefty would do in this office, is to ensure that as many people voted as possible in an election. That's the goal and in order to achieve it, there would never be any procedures put in place to reduce voter registration fraud or vote fraud, if they could be construed as intimidating or discouraging voters from voting.

Ask for a photo ID to vote? Nope. Ask for proof of citizenship in order to register to vote? Nope.

This mindset is not technically malfeasance, but you and I know damn well that it makes for an election that is ripe for fraud.

Posted by: Smoley on November 11, 2008 07:01 PM
52. I read that Burner and Nixon Were NOT interested in the position. The following is from the Seattle Weekly "no body wants to run for it. King County Council Chair Julia Patterson's out. Darcy Burner, as it turns out, isn't interested either. And neither is longtime elected elections director advocate Toby Nixon, apparently."

Posted by: ModMilq on November 11, 2008 08:00 PM
53. ModMilq@52,

You must have political connections that I don't have.

Of course the Seattle Weekly article is speculation, however it reads:

"So far there are no other takers. Voters last week approved an amendment to the county charter to make the elections director post elected rather than appointed. The person will be chosen during a special election held in February. Some potentials rumored to have interest include: former King County Council Member David Irons, who ran against Ron Sims for county executive in 2005; Darcy Burner, who lost to Rep. Dave Reichert for the 8th Congressional District seat, again; and state Sen. Pam Roach, though state ethics law would bar her from raising money beginning Dec. 13, or a month before the legislative session begins. In addition, Republican Toby Nixon, a longtime advocate for making the elections director an elected post, may be interested after losing his bid for the State House to Roger Goodman last week. It's a big job, but it pays well: $140,000".

Your posts are getting mildly suspicious to me. Are you trying to shut me up for some reason, using psychology of my interest in this issue as being unhealthy? And why or how were you exposed to Darcy Burner on a daily basis as you stated in your post @36? You want me to let it go, but you continue to post on the subject. I find this curious.

Anyone who has read SP for the past 3 years knows of my experiences with her, and why I made this an issue that I felt justified wasting my spare time writing posts on this blog. As opposed to just offering an opinion, I had, and provided evidence and an inside glimpse of what this woman had done here at Ames Lake to make many people extremely upset. Believe it or not, I don't care half as much about losing property rights as some of my neighbors. I just happen to have stumbled upon this blog 3 years ago. What's the deal with you, ModMilq?

I've have witnessed Darcy Burner abusing power, even when she wasn't granted any. I'm aware of her phoning neighbors and screaming profanities because they didn't agree with her.

I stand by my commitment to do anything in my power. and keep getting the word out, through posts on this blog in an attempt to keep this woman out of public life, if she continues to seek it.

What is really unfortunate, as I have come to realize, is that the electorate doesn't have much of a memory. and that I have had to say the same things over and over again.

Fixated, call it what you may. For once in my very politically involved life, I feel like I had something to offer that could actually make a difference. I would never believe that I could have, through discourse, convinced people to vote for McCain or Rossi, because like you, I have nothing on them, just an opinion or a political view. This was and will continue to be different as long as she seeks a position that requires me to pay her salary.

I'm sorry to hear of your friends problems. I too, feel very bad for Mike and Henry Burner. This has got to be hell on these people. But I will continue to try to get the truth out, when I see it being either forgotten or skewed.

That being said, I hope you are right, and I'm wrong in our interpretations of the Seattle Weekly article.

Posted by: ameslaker on November 11, 2008 10:29 PM
54. Ameslaker, I read the blog on the weekly last night that was posted at 5:09 last night by Aimee Curl. You can read it in the top left hand corner of the website. As it turns out, earlier in the day there had been speculation that she would.

I know Darcy through law school. We had most of our classes together during my first year. She dropped out during the summer to run for congress. I did not see or talk to her once she began her run for congress. I would prefer not to go into any further details about my relationship with her on a public forum other than what I have already stated - that I found her at times condescending (in a way I never experienced a before), that she was naive, and despite that she was well meaning. However, she reminded me more of a 20 year old idealist from a poli sci department than she did a 35 year old woman with a child and a work history. If you read all of MY past posts you will see I've been a Reichert supporter the entire time.

I am sorry that my posts have led you to question my motives. I have no political connections at all, and honestly, do you really think my posting on Sound Politics would have any effect on anyone's opinion? It's more a chance to have a conversation than anything else. I just made an observation about how you said you were done and then you kept going. There really are people out there (like me!) that are concerned about the overall well being of people. While the left likes to think it has a monopoly on caring people, people that identify as conservatives actually give more to charity. And I believe that generosity extends to spirit too. Sincerely, I wish you well.

55. It has now been 8 days since we had the election and Darcy Burner signs are still up everywhere! She is virtually the only candidate with signs still polluting our roadways, most candidates have made an attempt to clean up the signs, I don't think she has. I believe this speaks to her character, she is a sore loser.

I have thrown away a few signs from various candidates who had signs on some back roads next to my house, but for gods sake she has them on main roads and busy intersections. Pick them up!! Just another annoying thing that would'nt normally bother me but because it is her it does.
