Hey Chris, Hire Dino

In a post election news conference, Dino Rossi said he "offered his services and help" to Governor Gregoire and "wanted her to be successful as Governor."

In Governor Gregoire's news conference, she responded that she "would take him up on his offer." She also said "I do not intend... (to raise taxes)" and that "now is not the time to raise taxes." She noted that the state faces a deficit and economic challenges which will require everyone's help to solve. Gregoire deplored the divisiveness of the campaign said we "need to put that behind us."

Well, here's an opportunity to demonstrate her commitment to all these promises. Hire Dino Rossi as Director of the Office of Financial Management. He would be invaluable in that role to help the Governor write a bi-partisan, balanced, no tax increase budget.

1. I thought Rossi said he was going back into private business. Probably a better fit. Keep your day job, Dino. The only thing 'Rats want from 'Pubs is political cover, someone to blame when things go sour. Don't take the bait.

2. The only thing Dems like to do with Pubs is stab them in the back, front and side.

3. Where in Tuesday's elections did we the people indicate a desire for bipartisianship?

6. "Now is not the time to raise taxes"---Gregoire

We've heard that one before. Didn't seem to mean anything then, and probably won't now, either.

7. Hi Michele:

I thought I'd make your day by reminding you, if you were unaware of it, that your favorite ex-state Senator, Kathleen Drew, is alive and well on Governor Gregoire's policy team, and has been for the last four years -- making at least twice what she earned as a state Senator.

It makes me happy indeed that your tax dollars and mine will continue to pay Kathleen's salary for the next four years. I consider her a dedicated public servant who gives the taxpayers their money's worth every day of the week.

Please feel free to disagree, for all the good it will do you.

8. Count down to tax increase by Gregoire and the Democrats starts now. Campaign promises by Gregoire will start falling like shingles in a windstorm. I understand from the WSJ that Washington State will be seeing a drop in Sales Tax Revenue of almost 12% Gee what does that do for the State Deficit when you are assuming 7%? How about that Sound Transit funding model? Hello Sales Tax! That moron McIntire and the Legislature will come crying to the taxpayers claiming there is nothing to do but change the constitution and go for the Income Tax.

9. #3 - Obama, the post-partisan candidate maybe?

10. I was thinking that the first campaign promise Gregoire would break would be raising taxes.

But then I remembered this:

http://thurstonpundits.blogspot.com/2008/11/yer-screwed-08-what-gregoire-really.html

What we should really be scared of is Norm Dicks son just released the "save the puget sound book report." The tax payers are 2 million lighter for this gem. Am I on drugs or is their budget really 14 million/year???

11. That'll happen when hell freezes over.

Here's how it would go.

"Hey Chris, I'm not sure we should be giving these massive pay raises to Govt. union employees, we could really save a lot of money by..."

"OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!!"

12. OP: Great idea. And hopefully Obama will take McCain up on his offer too.

Start a new trend, maybe? The more I think about this, the more I like it. I mean, 48% of the voters thought Rossi had something to offer and that didn't change on 11/5.

It would be a classy thing to do - and we need more of that in politics, dontchya think?

13. Don't do it, Dino. The 'Rats dug this hole, don't help them dig out of it. Let them sink. Retire from politics and go back to business. It's clear the sheeple in SayWA want 'Rats. If they want 'Rats, they can have 'Rats. But let the 'Rats deal with the problems they've made all by their lonesome.
