What I'm Watching Nationally - UPDATED

Not a whole lot actually, I'll digest it in coming days.

I'd like to see John Murtha go down. Ted Stevens getting the defeat he so richly deserves would be splendid too...even at the price of a Democrat holding that seat in the Senate for six years. Don Young getting tossed would likewise be a welcome turn of affiars, though not as probable, in the interest of forging a new face for Congressional Republicans.

TBD: GOP Members of Congress boosted in competitive primaries by the Club for Growth has been under-performing in a number of races across the country. While the Club has laudable goals, its recent candidates have not proven to be reliably effective general election material. What will that debate potentially look like in coming months?

UPDATE:
caveat, if Stevens is the difference between the magic 60, I'd rather have him win...and then get forced out.

1. I'd vote for Stevens, and then vote to have him impeached.

As to CFG, eh. The fact is that the Democrats have done a good job of deceiving the public into thinking that Republicans are ALL hypocrites, so much of the electorate doesn't believe it when Republicans are actually conservative.

What really matters is what I said two years ago ... we need the Republicans to actually come back to their core big-tent values, and get rid of the dead wood like Ted Stevens, and over time convince the public that we are what we say. If Obama wins, that will be easier, since we'll have something clear to fight against, and a majority of the country will agree with us.

3. I'm with Pudge. I have no doubt that Alaskans would rather have a Republican Senator, So Stevens should win, then step down and let Palin pick his replacement.
