Endorsement - Sound Transit Prop. 1

Proposition No. 1 - Mass Transit Expansion - NO and Hell NO

What's being billed as "Mass Transit Now" is just the latest con from the same fleecers who still haven't delivered a single 1 of the 21 miles of light rail by 2006 they promised back in 1996. It's not mass transit now. It's pay through the nose now, and for the next 20 years, and if you're still alive then there might be a few more miles of light rail track that will serve a nugatory share of the commuting public. Vote YES if you work for Sound Transit or one of its contractors. Or if you're a gullible idiot.

1. Couldn't agree more. I think this will fail. Voters are in no mood to pay more, when they've already greatly scaled back their purchases in general for the time being.

May it go down in flames.

2. Yes, it will go down. The economy will cause its failure as much as anything else. Those who would favor it are those who believe that anyone not favoring redistribution of income is selfish, like BO tried to spin it.

3. Hmmmm. Gullible Idiot? Isn't that the primary requirement for joining the Democratic party? The party of shiny trains and home mortgages that grow on trees.

4. And the primary requirement for joining the GOP is being a complete a**hole? Really nice...

7. Yeah, and vote No if you're yesterday's knee-jerk reactionary right winger, who thinks Personal Rapid Transit is the transit technology of the future.

I first started reading this blog, because it was a fresh alternative to the usual stale liberal pablum. Amazing how easy it was for Stefan to adopt the same lazy approach of the mindless masses. And the same stupid conspiracy theories...fed - in this case - by Stefan's monorail nut buddy, Emory Bundy.

At a Downtown Seattle Republican Club event last year, Stefan told the audience he "likes to use light rail in cities which have it.". Well, guess what: the same challenges plagued those cities, too. San Fran had a mess of a time just picking the right train manufacturer. And, yes, the same mindless conservative whiners complained about the same useless garbage Stefan obsesses himself with.

Have any of those cities ever looked back and regretted their decision to build light rail? Nope. Instead, only two remaining questions remain in each and every case study: how much more light rail can we build, and when can we build it?

8. Funny, Gary, that one of the questions isn't "How are we going to pay for it?"

9. OK, as one of about five conservatives that advocate railway construction, I gotta tell you all that railways bring economic benefits and... wait for it... can actually be PROFITABLE if managed correctly. Just look at Japan, where many of the most profitable companies are railroads who mazimize their income by owning businesses and housing developments along their main lines. Fact is, efficient railways can and do attract investment to their station areas, provided the local government allows it to happen. Of course, given the moonbattery of most Puget Sound municipalities, this will not in fact happen.

But don't mindlessly bash rail construction because you think it's a waste of money. It isn't - the facts don't add up. If you think I'm wrong, consider the fact that many cities in the Western states wouldn't even exist if not for railroads.

I've never understood this...why is it selfish for someone to keep money they've earned, but not selfish to steal it from someone else?
