Peninsula Daily News: "Jefferson Dem Loses Right to Vote"
Todd McGuire, a prominent Democrat activist in Port Townsend who had been charged with voter fraud, has effectively admitted guilt, accepting a diversion agreement under which he will not vote for 5 years.

A Port Townsend reader says he checked with the Jefferson County Auditor and found that McGuire already voted by mail in this year's election. Not clear whether he returned his ballot before or after accepting the diversion agreement.
The voter fraud occurred during the February 2007 special election (more than 20 months ago). Let this be a lesson to you: If you were to commit voter fraud like McGuire did, you might lose your right to vote for a few years. Or, law enforcement officials might conclude that it takes so long to investigate and prosecute these cases that they might not bother to deal with it. Sigh.

1. Stefan's original post on this issue was way back in February of 2007.

Obviously McGuire dragged this out 20 months so he could vote in this 11/4/08 election.
2. ...and we all know how hard it will be for him to cast a vote regardless of any "diversion agreement."
3. Will the Jefferson County Auditor remove his ballot be fore counting?
I won't be holding my breath.
4. Could be worse. He could be in Pierce county where you might die of old age before going to trial.
5. If the election is tie in votes for Governor race will McGuire claim he voted for Dino Rossi.
6. Sadly, McGuire's ballot was processed on the 21st. His Diversion Agreement was approved by the Judge on the 24th.
The issue remains...what were the precise terms of the agreement??
The County Auditor had no reason not to process his ballot on the 21st.
Sounds like yet another scam...disenfranchising legitiamte voters once again.
7. I have owned property in Jefferson County for over 30 years and lived here full-time since moving from Poulsbo in 1983. JeffCo is one of the most beautiful places in the country but its politics stink since the California trust-fund hippies and old-money Dimocrat elitists took control of the government during the past 20 years. There is virtually no private economy or retail sector and therefore no tax base excepting property taxes. Most workers commute to out-of-county jobs and shop in neighboring Clallam or Kitsap Counties. The young move away when they complete public school. If you are considering starting a business, you'd be a fool to consider Jefferson County. A beautiful, but somewhat sad place to live.
8. Hey Todd---How about trying to just vote legally like the rest of us??
9. Damn... a lone case of actual voter fraud, where the guy filled out his own wife's absentee ballot and not ones belonging to the members of sports teams or Disney characters or anything. Proof of nothing in particular, folks.
Ahhh... mountain... molehill... won't matter in a week!
10. DC is right for a change - it won't matter in a week.
I for one will be glad to see this messianic election season over.
The only sad thing is that the next election campaign will begin as soon as all the votes are counted.
11. The pity is that for clowns like dumbo, voter fraud doesn't matter under ANY circumstances... as long as it goes his/her/its way.
12. demo kid--
The fact is your pal McGuire committed perjury...no matter how much you want to minimize it. He is paying a huge price financially...he probably spent $20,000 trying to defend the indefensible.
Not only is McGuire an admitted Perjurer, but he is also a LIAR because he denied it for 20 months until the overwhelming evidence proved he did it.

14. Not able to vote for five years is punishment? I am still laughing at this cruel and unusual punishment. He should spend some time in a labor camp in a remote part of the country.
