Open Post For Candidate Endorsements

Positive only.  (And I will toss out any negative comments.)

Let give you an example:  Were I a resident of the 7th district, I would vote for Steve Beren for Congress, happily.  He's a good fit for the district, with his urban roots and small business experience.  His ideas are sound.  Above all, he understands that when you are in a just war, you must win.

Now at this point, even I am tempted to mention the name of his opponent, a fellow you may have heard of.  But I didn't, and I didn't for a reason.  I want this post to be a place where people can find information on the candidates, not a place to carry on quarrels.

So, positive statements for your candidate only.  And, if you can, provide a link to some information, to the candidate's site, to an editorial endorsement, whatever, as long as voters can find information at the link.

(I will put up another open post in a few days, where you can make whatever arguments you want, negative or positive, within the limits of good taste.)

1. I'm supporting John McCain. McCain will appoint judges who will uphold the Constitution and oppose socialist redistribution of wealth. McCain will appoint judges who will refuse to support 3rd term abortions, partial birth abortions, or infanticide. John McCain will reward success and not punish it. He will cut taxes for all Americans WHO PAY TAXES, and oppose redistribution of one American's income to another American who has made bad decisions, failed to pursue an education or strong vocational training, and/or refused to work to achieve the American Dream. John McCain will support the defense of America. He will defend the Constitution of the United States. And he will fight efforts by the left to use the courts to legislate what can't be won in Congress. I support Sarah Palin because she has the most leadership experience than both presidential candidates and their running mates. She is a conservative. She has fought corruption outside and inside her own party. With McCain, Palin will speak out for spending restraint and spending cuts.

Finally, I support McCain/Palin because this government requires a Republican presence, if for no other reason, but to prevent one-party control of the Federal Government.

2. I'm supporting Brad Owen for Lt. Governor. He has provided good leadership his past three terms and is a good, moderate Democrat. He should be rewarded for his moderate, pro-business stance, which bucks his own party on numerous occasions.

6. Brian Baird, 3rd District Congressman, would be upset and surprised at Norm's last minute challenge.

7. For Congress in WA-08, I wholeheartedly endorse Congressman Dave Reichert. He's a man of integrity, whose accomplishments have earned him the respect of voters in western Washington as well as his colleagues in Congress. This good man deserves our votes.

10. Hinton,
Good catch. I guess I forgot what Congressional district I was in. It is the 6th, not third. Also, I did give Doug Cloud consideration this time, but given my history of working at the Shipyard, I felt that Dicks has proven himself over the years as a strong defense supporter, and this still get my lean. There is some rumor that he may be considered in an Obama administration (Interior), if Obama wins. If this is the case, then it will be interesting to see the scramble to fill this post he has held for so long. It would definately open the seat up for competition.

11. Presidential race: McCain/Palin

This race is about demonstrated 'change' we'd get with McCain/Palin versus symbolic change (read rhetoric)from an Obama/Biden ticket for this office. 2 of the most important issues facing this nation are wastefull government spending of our citizens tax dollars and the possibility of having to fill two vacancies on the Supreme court. Sen. McCain has been in the Senate since 1982 and has earned a lifetime rating of 88% from the non-partisan group Concerned Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW.org)while Sen's Biden and Obama have received paltry scores of 22% and 18% respectively over their Senate tenures in the Senate.
The Democratic nominee has been in the U.S. Senate for less than 4 years and has already amassed nearly 1 billion in earmarks. This isn't change, this is more of the same in D.C.

On the potential SCOTUS replacements, the choice is also clear. Sen. McCain has said he would appoint strict constructionists who would adhere to the tenents outlined in the Constitution of the U.S. while his challenger Sen. Obama told planned parenthoood that he would appoint justices with "empathy." This is a strict departure from jurists who are asked to interpret the Document this country was founded on and instead have them examine their "Feelings" at the time. With all due respect to Morris Albert (song artist), I don't think this nations highest court need be using their subjective "feelings" when interpreting a document that has successfully guided us for 232 years as a Nation.

Governor: Washington State - Dino Rossi

Rossi has the demonstrated leadership and insight to steer Washington state out of the mismanagement that Gov. Gregoire has overseen during her 4 years. The incumbent has failed on so many levels of leadership in state government than any change in this position is a welcome change or as some would call it- addition by subtraction.
