Governor's Race Fundraising Update

Dino Rossi outraised Christine Gregoire by half a million bucks in August. PDC reports available as of this typing show deposits of cash contributions by the campaigns from September 1 through September 28th. The tally during that time period by this blogger's count**:

Rossi: approx. $1.057 million
Gregoire: approx. $0.849 million

Is Dino Rossi's grassroots donor base outraising Christine Gregoire down the stretch?

It's possible.

1. King County was right. Banks do envy their accuracy!!!!

2. Heh. Yeah. Wamu probably wishes they could have "found" a couple thousand sane missing mortgages.

3. Daggummit!

Of course I raised more money this month! Them builders set me waaaayy out front once again! Heh, heh. Maybe those phone calls (when I wasn't a candidate...wink wink, nudge, nudge) have finally paid off!

4. Eric - that's $200K diff, not half a million...

5. But I did donate $100 to Rossi last night because of the post on Rasmussen that had the race 48/48. I felt it was worth my investment to try to get Rossi elected.

6. Crusader - you are all over the place. You say you support Rossi, yet you are in the tank for Hussein - trying to convince us that he'll win in a landslide/which is overly optimistic.

Something doesn't add up. You seem like a donkey in an elephant suit.

7. Happy to report that I was one of those that took part in the survey. Only problem was that most of the questions were 1-4 or 1-5. I wanted to go to "eleven".

ftr, there were questions regarding Bush, but nothing about fraud, tribes, or the probability of stolen elections. Perhaps next time.

8. KS - I still believe Obama will win 350+ electoral votes. But Rossi does stand a chance to win in WA state. That's because unlike McCain, Rossi is a solid candidate.

9. Crusader, clearly you didn't see the Saddleback forum. Obama looked like a guy who didn't know what he thought about anything, and looked uncomfortable several times. McCain was sure of himself, showed depth and knowledge and ease. It wasn't even close. He sounded very ready for this job. Obama...not so much.

Posted by: Michele on October 5, 2008 01:27 AM
10. Michele, clearly you didn't see the presidential debate. Obama was poised, humble and gracious. McCain was an insecure, condescending ass. I hope most people are going to vote on substance and behavior, rather than appearances.

By the way, I think Obama has had a speech impediment, which he has overcome, for the most part, with speeches he can practice. It's more apparent when he's talking off the cuff. Not an indicator of character or ability, by the way.

Posted by: Korry on October 5, 2008 03:27 AM
11. I just watched the Saddleback Forum, and I honestly can't believe that anyone would think that McCain's answers showed more depth than Obama's. All McCain did was recite Republican talking points and tell POW stories.

If anyone considers that an indication of leadership, or knowledge, I seriously question their judgment.

12. Korry, Obama's speach impediment is the disconnect between the truth and the story that Obama has crafted in his mind.

13. Rossi's support, financial and otherwise, is mostly home-grown. It is borne of the Queen's excesses and her "let them eat cake" arrogance.

Conversely, the same Queen of Seattle receives a huge portion of hers from liberal fat-cats, nut-roots, 527's and other assorted leftist kooks from all 57 states.

GO, GO, DINO!

14.
Seems like Democrat nationals are taking a lot of interest in Washington.

Even though they supposedly have all these polls putting Barry Obomber far ahead in blue states, seems like they are more nervous than they should be....

15. 13. You hit the nail on the head. There is something wrong when most of the money you raise coes from the very employees you pay in State and Local Governments.

Anyone who has been saddled with the massive Property tax loads and increases, even when all the news is your property is worth 12% less (anyone told the assessors that?).

The Indian gambling is a whole other story, and they don't even have to pay property taxes.

Go figure.

Dino is the only answer in 2008.

Send Gregoire back to Washington DC where she can actually take responsibility for her failures.

16. Nice shot Mooddoggie. You kill, gut and quarter in one line.
I wonder how the dems do it...I mean reaching lower for their candidate every 4 years. BHO makes Kerry look good. Remember when, accoding to the dems, the war medals on Kerry's chest would be enough to crumble W? I guess in looking at the statistics, Chicago is a war zone.

17. @12 You put into words what I was thinking.
Beautiful. O should not be President.

18. I like Gov Palin and I dislike Sen Biden. With that premise ingrained I tried to watch the debate as objectively as possible and I came away with this.
It became evident soon into the debate that we were dealing with competency versus personality, and while Gov Palin certainly (I think) trumps in the latter we as an American public want the former in a VPOTUS who is that proverbial heartbeat away. Sen Biden, with his obvious experience and grasp of International affairs and the fact that he's learned all the political ground rules and knows his way around - won the competency test. In my view, he had to stay away from two important foopahs: 1. condescention and 2. bloviating. While he didn't completely avoid the latter, he controlled it and there was no evidence of the former, so he kept from destroying himself. IMO Gov Palin won the personality test and 'capturing the American imagination' test but that's not good enough for prime time in a Presidential election.
Alas, I fear Gov Palin may go down in the annals of American History as a SNL parody and could have well even damaged her 'staying power' as Governor of Alaska. This obviously does not reflect well on Sen McCain in his ability to make wise choices and I think the polls will continue to swing. Those lite-blue states will now turn fully blue and the electoral count will soon be obvious.
-It WILL be an Obama administration.-
Gov Palin I applaud you for giving it a heck of a try, you are indeed a talented person with much to offer. History will record you as the first Republican VP candidate and you will now fade into the background much like your Democrat counter-part G. Ferraro. I wish you the best in your future for yourself and your beautiful family. I pray your son, along with all our other troops remain safe.
Like I said, barring an unusual high-impact October surprise favoring the McCain camp,I consider this race over.

19. ...sorry, I meant to post that on topic 'DEBATE WRAP'... :)

Posted by: Duffman on October 5, 2008 10:01 AM
20. Nicely said, Duff, but I beg to differ. A learning curve is what folks go through when starting a new job. Just means they don't know all the mechanics yet, but it usually takes a very short time to get up to speed. What I think is far more important are the goals stated and the basic philosophy held, which Palin did a good job of getting across to the public. I don't like or trust Biden. He's a political wheeler dealer, very liberal, and says just what he thinks will get him elected, whether or not it's the truth. Yes, she is the first Republican woman to be nominated for the VP slot, and it's resonating. Most folks trust her to help clean up the mess, which most women know very well how to do. We've been trained!

So you're litmus test is that he plays the political game better than the next guy?

No wonder this country is screwed.

Biden may indeed "know" facts, but unfortunately for the country he either knows they are the wrong facts or supports the opposite of what's best for America.

Either way he still screws America.

Since he is so transparent in his, er, departures from the truth, I would suggest that he is both...;'}

27. "Korry, Obama's speach impediment is the disconnect between the truth and the story that Obama has crafted in his mind."

To use the "verbiage" of John McCain...horseshit.

28. "It became evident soon into the debate that we were dealing with competency versus personality, and while Gov Palin certainly (I think) trumps in the latter"

You really think so? That Palin trumps in personality? I disagree. If you remove the pasted on phony "folksy", flirty crap, I don't think there's much there at all.

I saw about 5 winks too many for me. When I consider....which one do I trust? It's not Caribou Barbie.

Posted by: Korry on October 5, 2008 01:41 PM
29. 5 winks too many eh? There were TWO ... one to her father.

What offended you more? That she winked or that she exposed Obambi with QUOTES from his own Say it ain't so Joe running mate?

Mulatto Marxist... would that be as insultingly racist as 'Caribou Barbie' is insultingly sexist?

Come back and play again some time...perhaps then you can explain why a done nothing lightweight had to hustle a plagerizer to give him gravitas.

Posted by: Ragnar Danneskjold on October 5, 2008 04:34 PM
30. Look... there can be no doubt that Biden was correct on two very important issues:

First; that he, Biden, wasn't the best choice for VP, and second, that Empty Suit OhDrama isn't ready to be president.

It just cracks my butt to think that millions of leftists have worked themselves into a lather over a joke who's own running mate doesn't think he's up to the job.

Posted by: Hinton on October 5, 2008 09:53 PM
