I'm in haste, but a point on the latest faux controversy that has some on the left - well, let's be honest here - pounding pud.
Now, the reader is saying, "Earling, that was gross."
Fair. But, I dare you to read this post and this post from Goldy and not reach the same conclusion.
Bigger issue: the PDC affirmed last November that Rossi was not a candidate for Governor in the 2008 race until October 2007.
The conversations some in the left are so excited about occurred in May. Meaning, Dino Rossi exercised his First Amendment rights to speak to people with whom he had past associations, months before he became a candidate.
Shocking, I say.
Side point: this would be even less of an issue if the BIAW would actually do their best to follow PDC reporting requirements in a constructive way rather than seemingly always to look for the grey area solution of doing the least amount legally required. Now you have Chris McGann at the P-I calling their fundraising "illegal," when in fact is was simply not properly reported in full.
UPDATE: headline fixed.
Posted by Eric Earling at October 01, 2008 07:39 AM | Email ThisOnce again, you are holding one organization to a higher standard than another.
It's a waste of ASCII... so why bother? And who cares what they say?
Posted by: Hinton on October 1, 2008 09:31 AMPatrick... I provided links to the documents in my posts.
Hinton... don't you think it would be more honest and constructive, when discussing the BIAW, to reveal your own close association with the BIAW? I'm just sayin'....
Posted by: Goldy on October 1, 2008 10:05 AMRossi solicited campaign donations or coordinated fund raising for his campaign. Is there evidence he declared to the BIAW that he was a candidate?
In the absence of that his involvement as a mediator and consultant to the builder groups has no bearing on his candidacy.

Didn't Ron Paul support this wacko? (Cynthia McKinney)
Posted by: Army Medic/Vet on October 1, 2008 10:39 AMBut those people are liberals so you will do what your allies in the media do...simply not talk about it.
Politics is a dirty, nasty business and this isn't really about the BIAW at all. It's about the government lawyers, government bureaucrats, and all the folks who feed at the smorgasbord of Democratic sponsored institutions continuing to party while they smirk at those nasty capitalists that fund them.
Posted by: Bill Cruchon on October 1, 2008 10:47 AMRight you are Bill. Goldy only "follows the money" when it comes to his politically ideological rivals, otherwise he's in "but, but,I can explain that with this over here" mode.
As for Goldy's claim that
"One thing I think I've proven again and again is that I know a good story when I see one."Apparently not, since he tried to poo poo the Philandering John Edwards sneaking around hotels hiding in the mensroom while cheating on his cancer stricken wife- which proved true-. But those are just Liberal family values right, Goldy? Posted by: Rick D. on October 1, 2008 11:04 AM
That it DOESN'T exist speaks to the kind of crap you spew on the garbage site of yours.
*I'M* "just sayin."

*I'M* "just sayin." Since you asked.

Posted by: huh on October 1, 2008 12:45 PMThis is actually a very telling news article, as it demonstrates the inability of the Gregoire media to find anything substantive to attack Rossi with. They don't have issues, and they can't find scandals, so they have to try to invent scandals that no reasonable person will believe. As for the readers of the PI, most of them already are 100% behind Gregoire, so the stories do nothing but throw more gasoline on their generally irrational opposition to Rossi and philosophical allegiance with the socialist agenda.
Perhaps if the PI focused some of their attention on the massive proposed budget deficit and the incumbent's policies that helped create it, the electorate would be able to make a more informed decision. In fact, with such a huge story, I can only imagine the daily articles that would be pouring out of the Times and PI if a Republican was responsible. But of course we all know that the old media is not interested in informing the public of the truth, but coercing us instead to vote the way they want us to.
As for debating leftist bloggers and hoping they'll base their actions on the facts, you might as well try to convince a rock to float on water. Some things are simply not possible.
Posted by: Reality on October 1, 2008 12:57 PMAnd they have the entire thouroughly brainwashed media/educational establishment behind them.
Any wonder why Democrats are always pushing state sponsored daycare and pre-school? The earlier you start filling childrens' heads with global warming hysteria and the how evil capitalism is the better.
And our side just lets them lie and get away with it. I do give Dino some credit for some hard-hitting ads.
However look at our gutless President who should have gone on national TV last week and named the names of the crooked Democrats that got us in this financial mess all the way from Jimmy Carter, to Bill Clinton, to Chris Dodd,Barney Frank, and Barack Obama.
If we end up losing this election and giving the country over to the socialists we only have ourselves to blame.
Posted by: Bill Cruchon on October 1, 2008 01:45 PMThe modern Democrat relies on ignorance. Not stupidity, but ignorance of what is happening. They flood the voting booths with uninformed and misinformed voters to offset the increasingly shrinking informed voter. They know that of those Americans who don't already vote, the overwhelming majority will vote the way the media tells them to if they can just get them in the ballot booth or help them fill out a mail-in ballot.
For a period there, the Internet and alternative media offered a generally honest alternative and information was spreading that the mainstream wouldn't report. But now the Internet and alternative sources are targeted specifically with false, distorted and biased information to counteract them. The major media is singularly focused on reporting anything the left wants reported, but then stand on the sideline and let the lies look as credible as the truth they won't report. There is no truth detector in the mainstream media. Most people don't know what is true and what isn't. Blatant falsehoods are generated from both the extreme left and right to even further muddy the waters, and it wouldn't surprise me if the left was behind it all.
Ask 10 people in Washington which state representatives are up for reelection and I'll bet less than half would say they all are. With so few reading the newspaper and so little real news on TV, where do you think the majority of folks in this state even get news, beside occasional network TV? And the more the average person knows of the truth, the more likely they are to turn it all off for their mental health.
Posted by: Reality on October 1, 2008 02:14 PMJust like some of the loonier moonbats that visit SP, those kids are immature, irresponsible and yes, dangerous. Do not feed them by linking or clicking the links that would increase their traffic... maybe they'll fade back in to obscurity.
Posted by: Ragnar Danneskjold on October 1, 2008 02:47 PMAs soon as a person becomes educated enough to understand basic economics, and basic human metaphysics, philosophy, etc. They will quickly move to a more conservative mindset. And especially if they start their own business and realize just how predatory the collectivist Democrats are with respect to taxes and regulation minutia. Minutia often sponsored by Democrat controlled unions as a means to keeping their labor scarce.
But yeah, trying to bring Goldy or his demented profanity laden commenters to reason is like trying to move Mt. Rainier.
Posted by: Jeff B. on October 1, 2008 03:00 PMThat is, indeed, good advice. Wanna know where I ended up? A tribal casino.
But that was after a visit to the SEIU headquarters and the Democratic Governors' Association.
Oh, and WSFE's office turned up during my little follow-the-money adventure.
Go figure.

When I followed the money, I ended up at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and in the bank accounts of several prominent and corrupt executives appointed by Democrats.
