In case you missed it, a King County judge tossed the state Democrats' lawsuit to force a change to Dino Rossi's party affiliation. You can read a summary of each party's spin here.
It appears as if Democrats got caught with their hand in the cookie jar, not realizing prior to drawing up the legal action just how many ballots were already printed and/or in route to overseas/military voters.
This blogger never thought the suite would succeed in court, but that it would produce a round of earned media declaring "Dino Rossi is a Republican!" What I didn't expect was significant pushback from the Fourth Estate, including incredulous editorials from the Seattle Times, the Walla Walla Union-Bulletin, and the Yakima Herald-Republic.
Oops.

Posted by: Outis on September 26, 2008 08:38 PMOne could also assume that he's making some implicit statement that the Republicans need to get back to their roots or blah blah blah..
Or one could assume that there was no conscious effort to accomplish some underlying goal, but that he just used the designator that is in common use on ads, signs, etc.
Any one or none of those assumptions could be correct - which just goes to underline the point that this lawsuit was a frivolous waste of time. It's certainly nice to see that they're not getting a free pass in the press for this extremely petty and cynical act.
YOUR wrong. The GOP mark has been around for 130+ years. Granted the schools in this state suck because of the dem control and I guess you could use the excuse that the kids don't know what it means. But we can lay that fault at the door of the dem party for that.
The dems in this state are worried and it's the only reason they pulled this foolish stunt!
Posted by: Army Medic/Vet on September 27, 2008 07:57 AM"Much of Friday's hearing was spent discussing the administrative hassle that would come with reprinting ballots. But Judge Richard Eadie said it came down to two state statutes: one that says candidates can list their own party affiliations, and one that says the affiliations should be listed the same way on both primary- and general-election ballots."
That was the key...it was GOP in the Primary. If the Dems were sooooooo outraged, why didn't they complain them?? All dirty underhanded Gregoire-driven politics.
Again, I told you so.
This was merely a desperate attempt by Gregoire to change the subject away from her $8 BILLION of increased spending, the $3.2 BILLION Deficit she created and to cast a legal cloud over Rossi.
Didn't work.
The Dems should pay for all the lost time and costs associated with this frivilous lawsuit!
Regarding the Dems filing a lawsuit over GOP being on the ballot vs. Republican, their main concern is they already printed up 1000's of extra ballots with Rebuplican on them in case it's a close race again. Now they are screwed because they don't have any extra ballots to throw into the mix to put poor Crissy, Chris, Christine or whatever her name is over the top come election night.
