Heh, heh. The left is not "sufficiently nuanced" enough to understand that there is an entire country outside their snooty urban enclaves. All 57 states of it.
Posted by: Bill Cruchon on September 9, 2008 07:20 AMI'm sure after M/P wipe the floor with Empty Suit/Stuffed Shirt, he'll have all kinds of idiotic pictures to draw... if his head doesn't explode first.
Hey... maybe we can get him to join up with the "I'm moving overseas if the GOP wins the presidency" crowd?
Posted by: hinton on September 9, 2008 07:29 AMIt seems like conservatives what to make Palin herself off-limits. If you are in the public eye, you need to have a thick skin and put up with the humor. The other night, I watched Jay Leno's monologue. It seemed as if any jokes about politicians (both sides) were fair, except when it came to Palin. Jay actually got booed on his Palin jokes. McCain jokes, Obama jokes, and especially Bush jokes were fine. China jokes were great, but God forbid any humor is made about Palin. Give me a break.
Posted by: tc on September 9, 2008 07:36 AMSo, can the Palin jokes for awhile. I haven't heard too many Obama jokes, tc. How come?
tc, I found the cartoon hilarious.
Posted by: swatter on September 9, 2008 07:45 AMIt goes with the territory. One doesn't dare question Obama's past, but Sarah has been fair game from day 1.
Speaking of lightening up tc, do you remember the outcry just a few weeks ago over a certain New Yorker cover? I'm sure you do.
Posted by: Bill Cruchon on September 9, 2008 07:46 AMI'll tell you what, if I were any member of the Palin family, and I found out just exactly who was responsible, I would make it my life's work to personlly hunt them down and by the time I got through with them they would wish that their own moma had aborted them.
Posted by: JDH on September 9, 2008 07:51 AMHere's the link complete with screen capture.
Posted by: JDH on September 9, 2008 07:55 AMIt's now clear that Sarah is being elected, and she will take McCain with her to the White House. All the usual campaign issues are quickly disappearing: The people (me included) want Sarah, they can't get enough of her, her story, and her wise kindness. Irony of ironies -- she is the one who is giving the nation hope because of her goodness. Compared to her, Obama and his zombies are hollow obscenities.
Let the secular left try to discredit her with religious issues. That attempy will also backfire on them and Sarah will emerge as our country's Joan of Arc, resulting in spiritual revival, e.g., goodness returning to government and society. What joy, what hope!
Posted by: The Pirate on September 9, 2008 08:17 AMThat's probably the most perceptive thing I've ever heard in regards to Horsey.
I once told a friend of mine "Horsey is occasionally insightful, sometimes dreadful, but mostly just impressed with his own cleverness. But he's not really that clever."
Posted by: Cliff on September 9, 2008 08:33 AMSo we should lighten up, yet anything of this nature shows up with Obama as the topic and you guys go crazy.
Sensible.
Posted by: Chris on September 9, 2008 08:34 AMIt's reached about 60% Bush Bashing, 35% McCain Palin Bashing, 5% substance.
Speaking of drill, drill, drill. Has Congress named anymore post offices since they got together yesterday?
Sarah enjoys no such protection. She is everything liberals detest, a self-made successful conservative woman. A female Clarence Thomas, and ultimately their worst nightmare.
Is that silly cartoon effective outside the liberal bubble? I think not.
I am really enjoying all of this. Democrats are absolutely losing it, and the more they try to damage Sarah the worse it gets for them.
Delicious.
Posted by: Bill Cruchon on September 9, 2008 08:52 AMAs for myself, whenever I respond here in defense of Barack, it is where others here stereotype him, when they misstate his position, or repeat right-wing smears that have repeatedly disproven. I did the same for McCain during the primaries. Remember, I was looking forward to a McCain-Obama matchup, because I believed John McCain last spring when he stated that he wanted the campaign about the issues. I welcomed a serious debate on where each stands and whose approach would be best for the future of our country. I felt Obama could go toe-to-toe with McCain on any issue, including Iraq. This is why it is so unfortunate that the Republican Convention and so far post convention, and McCain's own campaign chair, have made this race into one about personality and biographies. Why are they so afraid to talk about the issues? It is a question, those here that support McCain, should be asking themselves. If you compare it, locally, to the governor's race, Rossi is attempting to address the issues. I haven't heard much from CG lately, nor have I seen many commercials from her. This is a big mistake, if she thinks she can glide to victory. The country and locally are in the mood for change, irrespective of party.
Posted by: tc on September 9, 2008 09:30 AMBut that's fine. Keep it up. Obama/Biden has lost 20 points with females since Palin's been on the scene. 20. Points.
Don't stop.
Posted by: jimg on September 9, 2008 09:57 AMOh please, are you that naive? I thought leftists were more "nuanced".
Maybe you can explain the phalanx of lawyers and media types that have descended on Anchorage, Juneau, and Sarah's hometown of Wasilla.

Posted by: John Bailo on September 9, 2008 10:19 AMI can't imagine what it must be like to date yoga obsessed liberal women. You know, the ones you'll see today all around Seattle wearing hats the size of large pizzas because they fear the sun. Even liberal guys must have nightmares about growing old with these women, who might turn into pant-suited, pinch-faced Hillary clones.
Liberal guys probably secretly long for a woman like Sarah...we'll at least if they aren't too far gone. They won't tell pollsters that they'd vote for the Republican ticket. I suspect however that a lot of them will.
Yah, we are the ones who are running around with our #1 issue being "McCain is Bush's Third Term!"
Other then "Change" and "Hope", this is all Obama's got.
Posted by: Cliff on September 9, 2008 10:36 AMActually Biden did so today by insinuating Palin should be for stem cell research because of her sons down syndrome. In her convention speech, Palin said she'd be a voice for parents with children with special needs, noting her newborn son, Trig, who has Down's Syndrome.
Biden spewed:
"I hear all this talk about how the Republicans are going to work in dealing with parents who have ... the joy and the difficulty of raising a child who has a developmental disability," said Biden, ... "Well guess what folks? If you care about it, why don't you support stem cell research?"
"I welcomed a serious debate on where each stands and whose approach would be best for the future of our country. I felt Obama could go toe-to-toe with McCain on any issue, including Iraq."
...unfortunately, your candidate isn't willing to do so. He refused to debate McCain in town hall venues where it would be unscripted and actually address real issues. Your toe-to-toe comparison is in direct conflict with reality. Obama has cowered away from anything that is issue based and instead relies on demonizing GW Bush and Karl Rove...pathetic.
"McCain's own campaign chair, have made this race into one about personality and biographies."
Honestly tc, I think you're losing it. Obama's entire appeal has been a cult of personality and generalities (Hope,Change) empty rhetoric that is supposed to supplant a paper thin resume and any kind of in depth delving into his policies. This guy is a walking, talking hologram.
tc, too bad you didn't get your wish. Last spring, I was hoping Obama got vetted since at that time he hadn't passed the smell test. He still hasn't.

Posted by: Ragnar Danneskjold on September 9, 2008 01:04 PMOn your second point, give me a break. Obama is going to debate McCain. McCain was trying to be all showmanship on this issue. Obama stated flat out that he wanted to spend the time directly talking to the people, which he did. He had plenty of town halls prior to the convention and plenty afterward. Irregardless of this fact, McCain threw the idea out there, but there was no meat. I mean if he was serious, he would also have to provide the ground rules as to how to make the town meetings fair. Instead, the first one, he had stacked with his constituents.
Posted by: tc on September 9, 2008 03:13 PMAaaahaaa! That's what the H stands for in Barack H. Obama!! Shouldn't the H be on his forehead?
Posted by: blindman on September 9, 2008 08:22 PMgood for him; hope he gets rich in this left-hated capitalist society he's free to pizz & moan about--try this in China or Venezuela or any host of "Progressive" African regimes;
freedom of speech is not always pleasant to all; but taken for granted by many; hope Horsey is not one of the latter; wonder what his 9-11 cartoon will be? ha-ha or reverence; that's the test;
Posted by: jimmie-howya-doin on September 9, 2008 08:51 PMI'm not pudge, but if you want me to state the obvious place to look for Biden's statement, try CNN webage for starters. oh, and it's the 6th paragraph down.
as for (2), only an idiot wouldn't take that as a shot at Palin for her mentioning her advocacy for special needs children at the RNC convention. Biden took the low blow express, just like most of his life in the Senate. My opinion of him hasn't changed much though, I've known he was a classless boor for years now. Did you know his lobbyist son and brother are both named in 2 ongoing lawsuits against them for fraud? Yeah, neither has the press since they don't print anything negative about the Freshman senator or his Delaware drunkard running mate. You are extremely naive if you think these two lovers of pork are going to reform wasteful government spending.
As for the town hall meetings that Obama has been afraid to engage in, why is he then going on the campaign trail saying "i'll debate John McCain anytime anywhere on any issue" and then turning down invitations from McCain to join him in these appearances? Is he afraid to speak to people without a teleprompter or scripted presentation ? I thought this guy was quick on his feet and ready to engage in the issues American's cared about...evidently not. Why not answer some questions that they have? My guess is, he still doesn't know where or what the Hanford site is and doesn't want to look like a clueless ass when attempting to answer questions from the average American voter.
The rose is losing its bloom..
Posted by: Rick D. on September 9, 2008 09:09 PMSorry, the American people reject the fialed policy of the past.
Deal or change. Whining like a little child won't help. Palin is more of the same. She's in hiding for a reason. Think. Don't whine.
Posted by: NoneYa on September 10, 2008 04:54 PMYou may want to give your candidate that advice. He was out yesterday morning whining that his "lipstick" comment the day before was a Republican ploy. When his whining stopped, it just provided another days coverage for the story..if not for Joe Biden saying "hillary would have been a better choice" and asking a wheelchair bound man to "Stand up Chuck". Oops
