The P-I in a Nutshell
Glancing over the P-I's main webapge, I noticed something at the top of the "most read" list that caught my eye; a column titled "Disregard the current polls."
Of course, it was a Dan Rather column.
Figures.

1. Best term to describe what they are doing to Sarah Palin
Swift-Skirting
Get use to it. Just like we put -gate on any scandal I am sure we'll be using the Swift- on attacks.
Didn't realize Dan was still reporting. Last seen in Seattle spending a few hours deciding if the collar should be up or down.
6 minutes of hilarity right here in Seattle.

2. What they try to do to Palin will only keep her in the news. She might, and a big might, have got National attention without this pick. McCain has catapulted her upwards and if there were anything pre governor the Republican establishment (using the money YOU have sent to the National Party) as well as the Dems in AK would have brought it bear by now.
It's already on the table, that is why her daughter is being pilloried by the left. That is all they have.
Keep her in the news, I welcome it!! I'm stoked. These petty nonsensical bullshit articles only play to the Republican advantage.
Can you say "panic city," that is what is driving leftist/Dem/communist/identity politics today - and that ain't where something American electorate identifies with.
I love the smell of napalm in the morning.
3. I mean really, let's buy a clue to where the country is heading.
The "market" is correct almost 100% of the time, when evaluating a declining asset. ESPECIALLY when that asset is declining exponentially. The only decent, not to mention safe, bet on NYT stock is a "short position." What the NYT sells isn,t news print - it is info and that info is being REJECTED as either superfluous or bogus (I say bogus). The Pee Eye is nothing, if not, a rehash of what the NYT offers.
They are irrelevant even to those who support their asininities because it no longer "sells."
4.
Two groups that should be reading the polls are the Rossi Campaign and WA State Republicans.
They've been playing this whole distant "Rossi-Obama" game up until now.
I say now, as in I hope they finally figured out they are lucky to have McCain Palin at the top of the ticket and its high time that you local Republicans show some respect and start helping out from the top town instead of "playing the field".
And Rossi needs to shed the whole middle of the road, high finance image too. I want a Sarah Palin in Olympia, not a male slightly more centrist version of Gregoire. Let's here are little more fire in those speeches Dino.
5. Rather may have been a "news professional" (until he wet on himself with the whole fabricated document story about W that finished him off of CBS), but this former humble journalism major will critique it by saying.....we didn't really learn much from Rather's column. Nothing really new here. I'd give him a B-.
7. Btw, I think it's time to start telling tough-guy Jack Bauer jokes, but substituting Governor Palin's name in place of Jack's :-)
8. Michele, Ask and you shall receive.

9. Moondoggie, that was awesome! Especially the one about the French surrendering! Haha! This deserves its own post. Will you seriously consider making it one all by itself on the public blog?? (please, oh please?) I think it will be an automatic hit with the readers.
10. Dan who?
11. I can't figure out why anyone would give a rip what the pathological liar Dan Rather thinks about anything.......oh, I forgot, it's Seattle........
12. I'm kinda hoping that she becomes known as "the Palinator."
13. Don't upset Palin or you're in for a whailin'.
14. It may have been mentioned elsewhere on S/P but we cracked up yesterday morning when we read that Ann and Nancy Wilson, (Heart), were incensed that the GOP used their awful 1977 song "Barracuda" at the Convention. "Sarah Palin's views and values in NO WAY represent us as American women" the Wilson sisters snorted.
The left has absolutely no sense of humor.
This morning's Sunday Seattle Times has it's biggest above the fold headline: "Inside Palin's turbulent first year as mayor". Of course it's a condescending hit piece which takes up over a page. On the opposite page following the article is the headline for an AP story: "Palin church promotes gay-conversion event".
I hope Accuracy in Media keeps count of all the negative Palin stories that have come out in the last week as the left goes into complete freak-out mode.
I wonder how many investigative pieces exist surrounding Obama's community organizing, or Illinois Senate career...my guess is none from the same media which is in full Palin attack mode.
15. Never put a metrosexual in a battle with a hockey mom...
16. Given that Zogby's got McCain up by 4, I can see why Rather would that we rather not believe the polls.
17. RE, the Heart song business. During the Demo convention they used some C&W band's song at some point, without permission, of course; IIRC, the band is quite conservative, but instead of bitching about it, they sent out a statement about how glad they were that their music can cross political boundaries or some such. Very classy.
Pretty much sums things up, too.
19. As far as the Palinator is concerned. Maybe this little Sarah Palin song i wrote will help. :-)
