Dino Rossi's Latest Ad: What is this Budget Deficit of Which You Speak?

Christine Gregoire continues to deny the state has a budget deficit, both while speaking on the trail and while answering questions for YouTube's candidate forum.

Dino Rossi's approach; put it front and center:

Contrast.

1. Rossi doesn't really give any real specifics. Protecting "our most vulnerable" could mean anything. Is it our THE most vulnerable person?

Decent ad other than that. Just not very specific.

2. Great ad Eric. It just inspired me to go an donate to Dino! I encourage all others concerned about our great state's future to do the same.

3. I would love to see Dino use the clip where the Queen tells Dori, "We don't know if there is going to be a deficit." The Queen will not ask her budget director for any numbers because she knows it would hurt her at the polls. Too bad our welfare comes a distant second to her's.

Posted by: Moondoggie on August 30, 2008 08:19 PM
4. Queen will simply demagogue it no matter what Rossi says. Typical Democrat MO.

5. Moving to Washington two years ago from another blue state (NY) I've been very unimpressed with what I've seen coming from the Rossi campaign.

A "change" theme? That just makes people think of B. Hussein. Aqua green? That color has no place in a TV ad. This stupid "GOP" thing also pisses me off as a die-hard Republican. Candidates should be proud to have the privilege to call themselves Republican candidates.

There are so many things that would make great fodder for excellent negative ads... Gregoire's ineffective handling of the windstorm of 2006 and the minimal response to flooding in Chehalis/Centralia, her inability to pass any sort of transportation bill, her desire to implement an income tax, etc.

He should also be associating Gregoire's do-nothing transportation policy with Murray, who as chair of the subcommittee on transportation appropriations has gotten this state squat in terms of meaningful federal highway dollars. WTF's the point of chairing that committee if you can't bring your state pork dollars?

Negative ads win elections. Reichert's "job interview" ad from 2006 was a stroke of genius. The swiftboats killed Kerry's chances in 2004. Rossi should stop airing these ineffective, say-nothing ads and start pumping the airwaves full of anti-Gregoire rhetoric.

6. sullim4, out here the Republicons have to pretend to be moderates. Wait till you see Rossi pretending to agree with Obmaa, like the Senator in Oregon is now doing.

Like any Republicon, he will tell any lie to impress the folk ignorant to think Republicons belong in the same government they are trying to destroy.

It just won't work. Republicons have proven they can't be trusted. In Alaska they are so proud of how corrupt they are, they even made hats signifying the "Corrupt Bastards Club". They rejoice in their corruption, because they know the reicht wing mafia will cover for them as much as possible. Don't believe me? Ask any Republicon if Scooter Libby belongs in prison for simply committing 4 felonies...... Heck no. Republicons should NEVER go to prison. Because they are Republicons.

Voting Republicon is and act of treason.

9. Did you notice, for the most part, Rossi could answer the questions just as effectively, if not more so, than Gregoire in half the time? At first I was, "Wow Rossi's answer isn't half that of Gregoire's." Then I went back and really listened to Gregoire's and went, "Wow Rossi's are just that and sometime more in half the time."

I would have like to see more details from him but when you actually listen to Gregoire she isn't giving very many herself. "I did this. I did that." She actually takes credit for some of the thing Rossi did in the State Legislature (or Eyeman initiatives) and in the next breath bashing him for doing them. She's for govt. control of just about everything in every question.

So what do you tell the people who are busting their asses to pay for healthcare for their families when you just start giving it away. Keep busting your asses, you're ALMOST broke enough to get on the public dole (You're going to lose your house, but hey when you do ,,, you might qualify for public assisted healthcare, weee). What about the employers? Why would you offer healthcare if the govt. is going to (if passed) pay for it if you anyway?

Transportation what? Gergoire nothing that can be implemented. Rossi multiple suggestions for solutions.

But here we are in WA State. So even though (as I will keep harping on) we've been complaining about the same things for years and years under dem "leadership" our state will vote democrat again and usher in another term of (what we call in the software industry) vaporware. --basically sell solutions that never materialize. or sell a solution that is supposed to do everything but does nothing except cost you money.--

Yes Washington ,, you are so progressive you will vote against your own best interest. Yeah for you.

10. Did anyone else catch the Governor's interview on the Dori Monson show at the DNC convention in Denver? She insisted that "There is no Deficit, in this fiscal year ( Through June '09) but there is an 800 Million Dollar Surplus in the Rainy day fund." Which is just like saying "Hey Washington State Taxpayers, We have plenty of money....Our Credit Card balance still shows a couple Million available and the bank says we can just make the minimum payments."

11. No Facts,

As usual, the traitorous democonvicts come out of the woodwork lying from both sides of their drug stained mouths.

The put forth candidates who spend 20 years being indctrinated by a black racist "pastor" singing "God Damn America" and domestic terrorists and then try to claim they are patriotic. By that logic, Osama Bin Laden is America's greatest patriot for having murdered 3,000 Americans.

When democrimals like William Jefferson get caught with $90K of brie money in their freezer, what do the traitors of the democriminal party do? They PROMOTE him to the Homeland Security Committee. A department that wouldn't have even existed had the democonvicts had their way.

Liberals/democrats/"Progressives" hate America and have done everything they can to try to tear it down. They have failed. From Democrat traitor John Walker Lindh whose terrorist comrades in arms slit CIA Soldier Johnny Span's throat in Afghanistan, to the Democrat's favorite terorrist Bin Laden, they are the fifth column trying to destroy us from within.

They mourn for their comrades in arms imprisioned in Guantanimo and work every hour of every day to exploit every one of the most generous freedoms we allow evern our enemies, to ensure their comrades are freed to purpetratr even most horrendous acts of genocide against Americans.

Voting for democonvicts

12. "Ask any Republicon if Scooter Libby belongs in prison for simply committing 4 felonies...... Heck no."

Are you simpleton's still navel-gazing over scooter Libby? Perhaps you can reveal the crimes that Libby has committed...oh, and not the ones you've invented in your mind, but the actual crimes for which he was convicted. I welcome your answer.

Posted by: Rick D. on August 31, 2008 10:25 AM
13. Happy to oblige, Rick.

A jury convicted Libby on one count of obstruction of justice, two counts of perjury, and one count of making false statements to federal investigators. The trial judge sentenced him to 30 months in federal prison and ordered him to begin serving that sentence immediately. An appeal of this order also failed. It was then that President Bush commuted the 30 month prison sentence, but left in place a quarter million dollar fine (which Libby has paid) and required community service.

Libby has since dropped his appeal of the conviction.

14. Time for a change. Vote Rossi

Posted by: George on August 31, 2008 12:01 PM
15. Thanks scott. My point is made. They have to hang together so they don't surely hang separately.

All Rossi can do is complain about Gregoire, and make false promises. I think I even remember Bush saying something about balancing the budget. Didn't we just have our largest deficit in history?

Even though I have serious problems with Democrats, I look at the Republiconvict Party as nothing more than the mafia. Organized crime with willing accomplices, who know about, and accept the GOP's corruption. They have some sort of mental disorder I guess. Either that, or they want a part in the spoils. Who knows....

Can you imagine what is going to happen if President Obama appoints an attorney general that prosecutes criminals, instead of just Democrats.....

Posted by: All Facts Support My Positions on August 31, 2008 12:29 PM
16. @ 13 ~ I see, I didn't see a conviction of exposing a federal agent in there, did you?

Libby was accused by your side of outing Valerie Plame. By your own admission outlying what he was convicted on, you know that to not be true.

You and "Facts" will certainly agree with me that Libby is innocent of outing the uber-secret undercover superagent Valerie Plame right?

Posted by: Rick D. on August 31, 2008 12:51 PM
17. Rick, not be charged with a crime isn't proof of innocence.

Certainly you know that (though perhaps not; turned out you were quite wrong in what you did know about Libby's criminal record...)

Posted by: BA on August 31, 2008 01:00 PM
18. Can you imagine what is going to happen if President Obama (?) appoints an attorney general that restricts free speech like he (Obama) is trying to do with the ad that is being put out by the American Issues Project that tells the truth about his Ayres relationship.....

Posted by: Susu on August 31, 2008 01:01 PM
19. @ 17. With that logic, we are all guilty until proven innocent. Read the Constitution much, sir? You really should give it a try.

I was aware fully aware of what Libby was convicted of by the way, knowing full well he was not prosecuted for the act he was accused of (outing Valerie Plame).Afterall, the prosecutor Fitzgerald had to go after him on something since the witch hunt didn't turn up anything factual. So he did the next best thing and made something up.

The left really need to let it go already as you only embarrass yourself by focusing on such trivial matters.

Posted by: Rick D. on August 31, 2008 01:17 PM
20. Rick, keep dancing.

The constitution say's you're innocent in the eyes of the law until proven guilty - no one is saying otherwise, despite your attempt at twisting words.

Of course Nixon's Attorney General said that only guilty folks are arrested - so maybe you're on to something about these government lawyer types.

Seems to me if the prosecuter "made something up", and secured a conviction, then the parden by President Bush did Libby no favor. Libby should have had the chance to appeal and clear his name of these "made_up" charges.

Instead, his biography will always include mention of his conviction and pardon.

Posted by: BA on August 31, 2008 06:42 PM
21. The prosecutor stated that he was told so many lies by so many people that he could not prosecute anyone for the original crime of outing an undercover agent. Don't forget they destroyed the cia front company Brewster Jennings, which was looking for the "real" wmd's.

When right wing tools like Libby, Rove, and Armitidge commit what amounts to treason, you cover for them. Just like the mafia.

Tell you what. What if I knew the name of an undercover cia agent. I told the press the name, in order to attack someone I don't like in the government, destroying valuable intelligence, and possibly getting a lot of "assets" working to keep us safe killed. Is this an act of treason? Is it an act of treason because I am a Democrat, but not if done by a Republiconvict? By the way. Where are all them missing e-mails. You know, the ones that will prove how innocent Rove is in the prosecutor purges?

"Rick, not be charged with a crime isn't proof of innocence."

BA I guess that makes you guilty too.

23. The Democonvict Party - the only party in history to have two presidents so crooked they were impeached.

Posted by: pbj on September 1, 2008 09:17 AM
24. Nope pbj, nice try though.

Your history is interesting...has there been any president that left office when threatened with impeachment?

Or is it just the two that were acquitted?

"The constitution say's you're innocent in the eyes of the law until proven guilty - no one is saying otherwise, despite your attempt at twisting words."

Which is it? Guilty or innocent? Having problems making up your mind?
