No joke.
In a unique twist, the Rossi campaign sends out this:
Dino Rossi for Governor 2008 will air its first General Election television ad tomorrow night. The new ad will air for one night only on network and cable news stations statewide before and after Barack Obama's primetime speech at the Democratic National Convention."This ad is targeted towards people of all political backgrounds who believe it is time for change in Washington state," said Jill Strait, Rossi spokesperson. "Our campaign welcomes everyone - Republicans, Democrats or Independents -wanting to work in good faith to improve our state. Dino's proven he has the ability to work in a bipartisan fashion to fix some of our most challenging problems and that is something that people from across the political spectrum can get behind."
The ad will be available to view on www.dinorossi.com at 4 pm tomorrow.
Count me as intrigued.

Posted by: Steven Donegal on August 27, 2008 10:09 PMI was not successful in this the last 4 years, but I will work like hell in the next few months to register every Dino voter I know and personally pick up their votes, especially in King County.
We have to put her on her Pers 1 Pension!
Posted by: gs on August 27, 2008 10:27 PMHe is supposed to be the fiscally conservative one...the one making good use of available dollars.
Marketing 101 teaches the worst use of advertising dollars is with those who have the least chance of becoming your customers. The cost per lead (in Rossi's case, the cost per vote) will be extraordinarily high given that the vast vast vast majority of viewers will never even consider voting for a republican.
I just want to see him to make wise financial decisions...this doesn't bode well for how he'd spend taxpayer money where he should be focused on biggest bang for the buck.
Still time to pull the ad, if he figures all this out.
Posted by: Caution on August 28, 2008 07:46 AMKeep in mind Rossi also is only barely trailing her in fundraising. This means Dino has almost as much money to spend as her, but is only spending it at half the rate, and is getting more votes per dollar spent than she is.
If that doesn't scream good economic steward, I don't know what does!
