Democrat Western Message: Environment and Welfare

The DNC video Countdown to America's Future (who came up with that terribly ominous-sounding title?) is ... well, interesting, so far.

They have their fake "reporter" talking about states that have shifted their governor from Red to Blue in the last few years: Montana, Wyoming, Kansas, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado ... but they leave out Massachusetts switching from Red to Blue (as well as Louisiana, Hawaii, etc. going the other way).

Why? Because this is not about giving you actual information, but about convincing you that The West is awesomely Democratic.

And how awesomely Democratic is The West? Colorado's Governor, Bill Ritter, and Junior Senator, Ken Salazar, give us basically just two ways in which the Democrats and the West are compatible: Democrats love the environment, and Democrats love to help people.

Apparently Republicans don't. This should come as news to most of us. Well, OK, not really, since we know the Democrats have been trying to sell this for decades. But what's striking to me is that they had nothing else. They had only two ways in which they think the Democrats are better for The West, and both of them were lies.

The Democratic Convention is off to a great start!

1. The west was the Republicans to lose. And lose they have. Through unchallenged dogma and blame games. Through hubris and self-deception. By selling a big lie. It's a pity, but more than half the voting residents in this state won't vote for a Republican this year based on the party association alone. Wasn't the case ten or twenty years ago.
Please Pudge, elaborate on the specifics of the Democrat's "lies". I'm sure coming from the independent fount of truth and pillar of reality it can be made clear that they are out to hurt people and are bad for the environment. We need to be protected from them.

2. Acid Brain:

You are predicting Sam Reed and Rob McKenna will lose in November?! Wow.

You heard it here first, folks!

And how was I not clear on the lies? I was very clear: it is a lie to say that Democrats care more about the environment and helping people than Republicans do.

3. Acid, in my opinion the liberals probably aren't hurting or helping the environment. There will likely be unintended consequences in other areas that won't help things any... which will 'give' them something else to 'fix'... like higher food and fuel costs. They are using natural environmental change as a tool to gain power and transfer wealth. Transfering wealth in our nation ends up hurting more people than it helps. Those it hurts remain dependent on government and have access to fewer jobs that the wealth would have been invested to create.

Hope you can break your habit before it breaks you.

5. Speaking of the Colorado governor, Ritter, and Kaine from Virginia. They were on some talk show or the other last weekend- maybe with Chris Wallace, I can't remember.

Boy, talk about a couple of airheads. They both looked and sounded like they were in junior high and answering questions in order to get elected to junior high council. Their goal was to fake an intelligent answer. The truth was when they thought they faked a good answer or at least one that sounded good.

One thing for sure, they were empty suits and the DalaiBama should be proud to be members of the Empty Suit Brigade.

6. One last thing- I hope the Ds get hammered for the ritziness and gawdiness of the digs in Denver. The lighting and set makes Star Wars and James Bond movies look like the horse and buggy era. This is from the party of "fiscal" restraint, or supposedly that is what they are calling themselves.

Or, in an era when people are having to budget and go without (as compared to McCain's elitism in the eyes of the Democrats), can not someone point out their hypocrisy? Or, how about when they decided to blow their budget and run a deficit for the convention that this is not what America wants. Spend and hope for more money.

7. Pudge, you really mean to say that Republicans care more about the environment and helping people than Democrats do?
Ctomhr, yup - this is precisely the risk we now face after the years of the NeoCon Era Republican mismanagement of domestic resources. The nationalistic cultural phenomenon that hijacked the conservative ethos had never considered the consequences of losing power or the inevitable backlash.

8. Acid Brain:

Pudge, you really mean to say that Republicans care more about the environment and helping people than Democrats do?

If I had meant to say that, I would have said it, so, no. I said Democrats do not care MORE about these things, which is true.

Did you really mean to say Sam Reed and Rob McKenna would lose in Novemeber? You actually DID say THAT.

9. Pudge, it must be a full time job not to just slap the snot out of these bombastic idiots full of dimocrat talking points.
The "Care" dims have touted is code word for "only the government can fix it" via taxation, regulation and brute force.
I wonder what the weaponry of the American military would look like if it was developed by Pelosi and Co. as opposed to HK, Ratheon, Boeing etc. Whyizit the dems are afraid to let private sector loose with brining out solutions instead of standing in the way all the time.
Whyizit dems think "taking" oil company profits will lessen our dependence on oil. BTW, Buffet and Gates have more wealth than Exxon made last quarter and nobody is whining about taking their profits? Oh, that's probably because they're friends of the dims.

10. I just saw this headline NEW YORK DELEGATES WARNED NOT TO DRINK AT DNC
I'd be here all day if I made every Kennedy joke that came to mind.

11. Pudge show me where I DID say anything of the sort. I'll stand corrected, perhaps you did mean to say that neither Republicans or Democrats care more or less about the environment or helping people than each other. Not sure what the point of that is.

PC that's fantastic!

12. Me: Did you really mean to say Sam Reed and Rob McKenna would lose in Novemeber? You actually DID say THAT.

Acid Brain: Pudge show me where I DID say anything of the sort.

Sure. You wrote, "more than half the voting residents in this state won't vote for a Republican this year based on the party association alone." If that were true, then Sam Reed and Rob McKenna would lose.

perhaps you did mean to say that neither Republicans or Democrats care more or less about the environment or helping people than each other. Not sure what the point of that is.

The point is obvious: I was rebutting the Democrats, who gave as the ONLY REASONS WHY the Democrats are better for the West is that they care more about the environment and helping people. Not sure how you don't get that point.

13. It's a pity, but more than half the voting residents in this state won't vote for a Republican this year based on the party association alone. - Acid Brain

'More than half' = 50%+1

Ergo, McKenna (R) and Reed (R) lose.

Wanna bet on that? Or are you going to claim you don't even understand what you write?

Posted by: jimg on August 25, 2008 01:50 PM
14. Mea Culpa - it's 30% not >50%. Thanks for calling me on it.

Posted by: Acid Brain on August 25, 2008 02:30 PM
15. Acid Brain: ah. Well, no fear, about the same percentage won't vote for a Democrat. That's normal: you get about 30 percent who will only vote for one party, and about 30 for the other.

16. Since I've only seen democrats hurt small business, and promote child-killing, I haven't actually seen them as "helping people."

17. Republicans offer a hand out where Democrats offer a hand up.
The difference? Democrats dont put a monitary value on the life of citizens.
Republican allow people to die for the sake of high profits..
sick stuff

19. UrNotChadMinnick:

You're wrong. IN FACT, it WAS the Democrats who came up with the process of putting a monetary value on a human life, in order to push through their agenda. Yes, really. The EPA didn't start this under Bush, it's a means for socialists to say, "this will cost this much, that will cost that much, so we should do this, not that."

It goes back a hundred years and more to when socialists actually called themselves socialists, where they said that there was a science that could be used to manage society. They use formulas and numbers -- including the value of human life -- to determine public policy. This is socialism, this is Democratic, and this is not Republican.

Republicans in general do not do that. They instead fall on the side of liberty -- which cannot be bought -- rather than trying to weigh the value of lives.

20. Republicans offer a hand out where Democrats offer a hand up.

Other than having it completely backwards, you're correct.

21. jimg, given the nickname, I wonder if the person behind that is just trying to say everything that is the opposite of what Chad Minnick would say, which means, more often than not, they are going to say things that make absolutely no sense.

22. What #20 said.
I find it intresting that I'm more and more hearing Ds try to sound like Rs here. All Facts was trying to pretend that dems have been good for small business. Now the hand-up thing. At least our ideas are holding more weight, if the democrats are trying to copy them. It's breathtaking how the democrats went from Howard Dean declaring "The republicans are JUST A WHITE, CHRISTIAN PARTY!" to (once they finally figured out a couple years ago that they need more of the christian vote to win!) Barack Obama is a committed christian!

How sincere are christians supposed to take this, when it's clear that the dems pretend to stop hating them (remember what ol Howard said..) just because they need a few more votes here and there?

23. More food for thought - it is a 7-minute video, but it shows behind the scenes of what ACORN is trying to do to get BHO elected -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8Ep1tkNOUU&eurl=http://nwrepublican.blogspot.com/

These extremists need to be exposed and brought to justice, as they will do anything illegal to sway the election, with illegal votes as they did here in 2004. I understand that the OBama campaign donated $850K to this effort.

24. Ah Acid Brain. Caring and sharing, sharing and caring. I bet he just loved the Care Bears. You see with librulz, it's all about caring, not actual results. It's the 10yo version of politics.

25. Michele @ 22:

Dimocrats will say absolutely anything in their attempts to deceive prospective voters. The truth is that the Dimocrat platform trumpets legalized murder of unborn children and the desire to allow sodomites the right to marry, both totally adverse to the beliefs of mainstream Christians. Obama and Dimocrats, however, have been granted a pass by the mainstream media and thus allowed to freely lie in their ongoing attempts to confuse ungrounded and foolish "Christians".

26. Acid Brain may not be 100% accurate but there is truth to his words, folks.

Mock him if you will, but that will absolutely not win you elections.

This from a guy who wants to see Rossi, Hope, etc win.

Posted by: Andrew Brown on August 26, 2008 08:42 AM
27. Andrew, eh. I only quibbled with his initial, incorrect, statement. Sure a lot of people won't vote for Republicans. I am not sure this is as pronounced in 2008 as it was in 2006, when we didn't have McCain and Rossi on the ticket, and when the GOP was in control of Congress.

Posted by: pudge on August 26, 2008 08:47 AM
28. Ah, Andrew. So the key to victory is to be Dem-lite? Out left-wing the left-wing? That WA state is blue as blue gets? Tell us more, oh great sage.
