From time to time I think of a cartoon that I think would go well with Sound Politics. Unfortunately, my artistic skills are limited. I can draw a picture of a stick figure — that looks something like a stick figure — and that's about it.
But there probably are people out there who could turn my ideas into cartoons. And, if you would be willing to help in that way, I'd be grateful. You would get credit, if you want it, or, if you prefer, you can stay anonymous. Either is fine with me. And I can understand why a cartoonist living in this area might want to stay anonymous on this kind of project. And, of course, you would get to see your picture published on the most important blog in the Northwest.
First idea: A traditional balance scale, looking something like this one, though maybe a little wider. Above the scale is the title: "A Balanced Ticket". In the left pan is a feather labeled "Obama"; in the right pan is a feather labeled "Biden". Email me if you would like to draw this cartoon. If I get more than one good cartoon, I will put more than one up.
(Notes to anyone who hasn't created art for the internet: Even now, some people do not have high resolution monitors or high speed connections, so it is best to keep pictures relatively narrow and file sizes relatively small. Less than 600 pixels wide and 50 megabytes in size are usually safe. Pictures on the net are usually stored as jpg, png or gif files. Any of those three would be fine, though a gif file might be best for most cartoons. I have programs that can convert from other formats, though there might be some loss of quality in the conversion.)
