[Reminder] $20,000 Restitution Due @ 2008-10-23 1:30pm

Fred Walser, this is a reminder for

$20,000 Restitution Due

2008-10-23 1:30pm
(Timezone: Pacific Time)
Sultan, WA, US (map)
Calendar: Criminal Sentence Obligations

Only 10 weeks left! If you don't pay your restitution on time, your one-year suspended jail sentence could go into effect (which would make it hard to finish the Senate campaign). Don't be late!

(And while you're at it, don't forget about your 240 hours -- 30 eight-hour days -- of community service.)

Less than 300 days left of probation, hang in there!

1. By the way, this is entry #6666 on Sound Politics (not including the "Public Blog"). Wooo.

2. This post would look good on a billboard along US-2. Perhaps a giant countdown clock as well.

3. He's a DEM, they never pay, it's always someone else's fault.

4. Maybe Walser will hold a fund raiser the way McDirtbag did. : )

5. Great "Flush Fred" campaign, Pudge. This guy Walser is indeed the Democrat standard bearer in this state. I found this quote from him in the P-I (read Politically-Insecure)website from 1995.

"Patrick Murphy is an affront to law enforcement" because of his "untruthfulness" on many issues, said Walser, a retired Washington State Patrol lieutenant who took only 34 percent of the unofficial Democratic vote.

Pot, meet Kettle.

7. Pudge:

If Walser is such a scumbag, why are you paying so much attention to him? Val Stevens has been elected in your District five times. It's one of the most Republican Districts in Western Washington. What the hell does she have to fear from this guy? What do *you* have to fear from him?

If Stevens needs your help, or anybody's help, to kick this guy's butt, maybe she's not in such good shape. But somehow I doubt that.

8. Good golly, get that picture of Fred Thompson off that website. Do all Freds look like that when they get old?

9. ivan:

For being a local Democratic Party bigwig, you don't understand politics very well. Or perhaps it's different down in King County.

Up here, there is very little media coverage of local political races, especially LD aqnd CD races. The majority of INVOLVED, POLITICAL people don't even know much, if anything, about Fred Walser's misdeeds. There was one story about it in the Everett Herald. The two papers down around Monroe/Sultan have covered it more. KIRO ran a few stories, although even then, I don't think they ever ran a story after he was convicted.

So it's obvious that Walser is counting on a high level of ignorance in order to win. Just looking at his resume, he looks like he might be a decent choice, if you don't know about his misdeeds: his wife is Mayor of Monroe, he's a former Police Chief, he is chair of the U.S. 2 Safety Coalition, etc.

If you are anti-Republican (as more people are these days, due to no fault of the 39th LD Republicans), or if you care about U.S. 2 and believe Walser's lies about his organization getting money from the legislature last session for U.S. 2 safety, you might be tempted to vote for him ... again, if you don't know about his misdeeds.

He actually has broad support down in Monroe, mostly because of his wife, and because they believe his lie that it was only a "clerical error."

So to directly answer your question: I think if we did nothing to attack Walser, Stevens would most likely win anyway, for the reasons you state. But I KNOW that if people know what he did, then he Walser will DEFINITELY lose.

So it would be stupid and irresponsible to NOT inform voters about Walser. If she lost somehow and I had done nothing, it would be MY fault. I won't let that happen.

Also, this sends a message to the Democrats, that they can't even rationally think about trying to get away with something like this again.

And note, Ivan, that the Democrats ARE supporting him. The Democratic Senate Campaign Committee gave him $10,000 cash, plus over $14,000 more in-kind. The WA State Democratic Central Committee gave him $2,000, and the Skagit County Democrats gave him $1,000. And all of this money (except for about $1200 in in-kind contributions from the DSCC) came AFTER his conviction.

So why don't you ask your fellow Democratic Party organizations why they're spending money on Walser? Of course, the answer is the same as I gave above: they believe Walser can win, so long as the public remains ignorant about what he did.

This dependence by Walser and the Democrats on an uninformed public is extremely anti-democratic, by the way: democracies only work when the public is informed.

So that's what I am doing.

10. PUDGE......

What the heck are you doing?

Don't you dare shine the light on these ROACHES...
Ivan speak.

LOL

Great job Pudge.

11. Well, Pudge, if I'm a "bigwig," I guess that makes you one, too, because we're both District chairmen.

But I find your solicitude for the voters in the 39th District somewhat amusing. You're bound and determined that the voters not remain "ignorant" about Walser, and you're doing the job that the party expects you to do. I have no problem with that.

I guess it's OK for you, though, that the voters in the 39th remain "ignorant" that they are represented by one of the most backward, obstructionist boneheads in the Senate, whose intellect approaches the Ellen Craswell/Lois McMahan level, and whose ineffectiveness is costing the District dearly.

Walser's legal troubles certainly don't help him, and they shouldn't. If I were in your shoes I'd be doing just what you're doing. But if voters in the 39th District are trying to replace Stevens, who is a laughingstock to the rest of the state, you can hardly call that "ignorant" and expect to be taken seriously.

Posted by: ivan on August 14, 2008 11:32 AM
12. Ivan:

First, Stevens is far smarter than you are. You can disagree with her all you like, but she's extremely intelligent. Attacking her intellect only makes you look dumb, because it's quite clear you're only attacking her views, and pretending that it reflects her intellect. Smart people don't make that fallacious mistake.

Second, the rest of what you said about her is mere opinion, and not very well-substantiated opinion at that; on the other hand, what I said about Walser is all fact.

Third, bringing up her "effectiveness" only highlights the disgusting partisanship of the Democrats. It was Senator Mary Margaret Haugen who, in essence, said that if the 39th LD won't elect Democrats, then they won't get money to save lives on U.S. 2. She was intentionally withholding U.S. 2 money to PUNISH the 39th LD for voting Republican.

That is, the lack of "effectiveness" on Stevens' part is, on this issue and others, is, quite clearly, and by the Democrats' own words, an intentional effort to convince people that if they don't Vote Democrat, then the Democrats will allow them to die.

So please, talk about "effectiveness" all you want, and I'll talk about deranged voter blackmail by a top Democratic State Senator.

if voters in the 39th District are trying to replace Stevens ... you can hardly call that "ignorant"

If you are going to lie about what I said, you can hardly expect anyone here to respect you. I never said nor implied that trying to replace her is ignorant. I said not knowing about Walser's misdeeds is ignorant, which is obviously true, as it is how the word "ignorant" is defined.

Posted by: pudge on August 14, 2008 11:46 AM
13. Ivan: oh, and I didn't mean anything negative or serious by "bigwig," only that in your position -- which is similar to mine -- I'd think you should know better. And apparently you do, since you say you'd be doing what I am doing.

Posted by: pudge on August 14, 2008 11:50 AM
14. Ivan,

You obviously haven't gotten under Pudge's collar that effectively yet. Once you get Pudge really good on something where Pudge is really wrong on the facts, Pudge will dissect your post with a fine-toothed comb, and find some minor point in your post that is debatable. Pudge will then call you a LIAR because he has some evidence that you are wrong on that minor point, and will refuse to address the remainder of your posting.

15. Ivan,

You, a Seattle Democrat, refer (in # 11) to Republican State Senator Val Stevens as "a laughingstock to the rest of the state". You need to get out more, as the "rest of the state" considers the entire city of Seattle a laughingstock. If it weren't for all Seattle's fruits and nuts, Washington state would be staunchly Republican and a much better place to live.

Posted by: Saltherring on August 14, 2008 12:45 PM
16. Richard Pope is just bitter because I am far too clever for his complete B.S. to get past me. Shrug. I am what God made me, sir!

And Ivan, Saltherring is right about Val. Outside of King County, her reputation is quite different ...

Posted by: pudge on August 14, 2008 12:53 PM
17. Ivan,

You might also be interested to know that many of us Seattleites consider Seattle to be a laughingstock as well. Thanks for nothing.

18. Pope @ 14:

Pudge hardly bothers me. I'm on to his methods. Pudge and Ole can't handle the reality that Seattle has the votes, and the votes don't go their way.

The votes aren't even going Ole's way in Jefferson County.

We'll laugh last because we have the votes. I don't live in Seattle anyway.

19. Pudge hardly bothers me. I'm on to his methods.

You're finally learning how to deal with facts? How lucky for you! Maybe you can help Pope out ...

Pudge and Ole can't handle the reality that Seattle has the votes, and the votes don't go their way.

I do not know who Ole is, but I do know that Seattle doesn't have the votes in the 39th LD, and further, that this time even Seattle/King County won't be able to have enough votes for Gregoire.

20. Yawn. Shrug. ivan and pope, I don't agree with you on much, but count me in on pudge. Yawn, Shrug, time to go back to my nap. Yawn, shrug.

Posted by: swatter on August 14, 2008 01:47 PM
21. swatter, you're the funniest one, because you make all these personal attacks against me and others, and then whine about other people making personal attacks.

If your complaints about the demeanor of OTHER PEOPLE is not something to shrug or yawn at, I don't know what is.

22. R. Pope
Pudge will then call you a LIAR because he has some evidence that you are wrong on that minor point, and will refuse to address the remainder of your posting.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

LOL you fool. Pudge and others call you a liar because you are and have been caught SO many times. Yet like a druggie, you come back for more.

Use the "Public Blog." If you start discussing his post here, I will remove comments with prejudice. :-)

26. Mr. Miller did not add the particular post in question to the Public Blog, therefore I and others are unable to discuss the matter to which Mr. Miller feels is of the utmost importance and therefore worthy of gracing the SP main page.

Posted by: Cato on August 14, 2008 04:24 PM
27. Cato, shrug. You can discuss it on the "Public Blog" or some other web site, or wait until he or someone else posts about the topic on the main page with comments enabled. Your problem here is not my problem.

28. Hey Pope,

Please tell us all why the Washington State Bar Association rated you "not qualified". Oh and do those two women still have restraining orders against you? You will fit in well with the Democrooks.
