A little while back, Ron Dotzauer's consulting firm brought on former Patty Murray staffer John Engber, who himself has a solid reputation across partisan lines. But, the press release** announcing this new addition to the "top strategic communications firm in the Pacific Northwest" was filled with spelling and grammatical errors. Aside from that delicious irony, with glee I can report this is not the only recent Dotzauer fumble.
Locals in Snohomish County know that passenger airline service at Paine Field is a controversial issue. Dotzauer was recently hired by opponents of an effort to initiate such service. The problem is, a Dotzauer email on the matter was "'neither careful nor respectful and is wrong on a material number of facts.'"
Indeed, the email was so off-base it earned a chiding editorial from the Everett Herald after County Councilman Brian Sullivan compounded the problem by forwarding the missive on to fellow air service opponents.
Many a local politico is familiar with Dotzauer's capacity to play bull-in-the-china-shop. We are rarely blessed, however, by him doing so this publicly.
**Don't worry about trying to read the press release at the firm's website, it hasn't been updated in months. Must be what "top strategic" communicators do.
