Why the Governor's Race is Close

For starters Joel Connelly has enough material to write a firmly negative take on Christine Gregoire's re-election campaign.

In not so stunning news, Connelly finds that just like 2004, Gregoire is a much more effective bureaucrat than campaigner. More importantly, Connelly also finds copious gnashing of teeth about Gregoire's current efforts on the trail, including:

A veteran national Democratic Party strategist termed the governor's kickoff spot "badly written and a bit hokey," and tone deaf to the public mood.

"People are upset and this flies in the face of their concerns about the cost of gas, rising unemployment, the ferry system disaster and the problems in state agencies," he added.

This, again, is highly reminiscent of 2004, when Gregoire couldn't close the deal in the waning months of a campaign in which she was the heavy favorite. Here's the kicker from Connelly in assessing this year's effort:

In a larger sense, the governor's re-election -- and her legacy -- depend on the Illinois senator. Obama is needed to turn out the volunteers and register new voters.

A Democratic incumbent in a blue state in desperate need of a turnout boost from up the ticket in 2008 of all years is quite a peculiar sight.

Add it all up, and Dino Rossi's campaign announcing its astounding 38,000th contributor on Thursday makes a lot more sense.

Um, wait--that won't lower taxes. uhhhhhh.......

GO, DINO!

"Chris" Gregoire's plan is to hire more than 50% of the voting public as state employees, ram through a light rail extension tax, and then give them all raises before the election. Sadly, it might work...

4. I love how Connelly's article quotes Chris as saying she needs a "partner" in the White House to clean up Hanford.

Oh, you mean, like Barack? Who has no idea what Hanford is?

Hmmm.. I'll stick with McCain. :)

5. I seriously can't see how there could be any doubts about who will be occupying the White House after yesterday's *stunning speech by Dalai Obama [I'm referring to him as that 'till he's sworn in] as I now believe that he is ostensibly America's highest priest contribution to the world. The Dalai's coattails will indeed support and help many, including our current Governor.
I must say that I'm starting to feel a bit sorry for Sen McCain. I don't doubt he's a good man and has certainly earned the respect of our Country in his devotion and hard work and committment, but he obviously can't compete with all of the attributes of the Dalai. We witnessed yesterday the start of America once again capturing the imagination of the world and, I think (& hope) a new resurgance of respect unfolding. Because of the large amounts of $money to be spent on this campaign this may not be a 'slam-dunk' per se but I believe Dalai Obama's victory will be significantly by a wide margin. Ripple effect will obviously help many otherwise 'close' State races.
Sen McCain I commend you for your efforts and dedication, but sorry sir it ain't gonna happen. Finish out your Senate career and enjoy retirement - you've certainly earned it. BUH-bye!

(*) by stunning speech, I don't mean in any original profound way, but simply in a way that captured people's imagination, much like the speeches that Ronald Reagan gave...so, i.e. 'stunning' relative to Bush and/or McCain speeches.

6. It's truly amazing to hear Gregoire's sycophants defend all of the blunders that have occured on her watch as Governor-by-default.
She can't run on her own miserable record so she trots out attacks comparing Rossi to being "just like George Bush", which just reeks of desperation to the average, sane listener. I hope that Gregoire's fate does indeed lie with the youth vote because they have been notoriously unreliable in rallying up the strength to spend 5 minutes in the voting booth, (especially this Generation WH"y" ME?) and I don't see this year as being any different. Should Obama be about 5-10 points ahead, I have a feeling that the youth will just stay home and declare "Oh, Obama's got it won already, no sense in me going out in traffic today".

Apathy among the electorate is certainly an American tradition in November.

7. Duffman,

A modern-day urban socialist, in the Leon Trotsky mold, filling the minds of the "downtrodden" with visions of dancing sugarplums.

"Hope", as defined by the Obama campaign, means huge tax increases upon those who WORK in order to finance futile giveaway programs for those who choose NOT TO.

All this will render is what we had in 1980; crushing individual and corporate tax burdens that stifle innovation and economic development, massive unemployment, high interest and inflation rates.......all leading to economic stagnation. And....the poor will still be poor.

It would be much better to:

1. Severely curtail the present giveaway programs, forcing the indolent to work

2. Kick the illegals out of the country

3. Suspend much of the oppressive government taxation and constrictive regulation that stifle economic growth

In other words, quit promising the American dream to the idle and return it to those willing to work.

8. Duffman, at least a comment I can comment on. Thank you for 'bringing it'.

I got the transcript of the speech and read it aloud to the crew (I know the reaction against the speech had as much to do with my voice made for print as anything else), but the total crew, from the non-voters to the radical socialist were taken aghast by the speech. There were more than a few references to the ability of Hitler to mesmermize the masses. After all, the speech was in Germany, wasn't it?

(Ed. Note: I am not comparing Obama with Hitler with respect to policies or anything of that, but just of the oratory ability to mesmerize the audience.)

Lastly, when the DalaiBama wrapped up the D nomination from the more qualified Clinton, he said, "when we look back at this day, remember that this is the day that the earth began to heal and seas began to subside".

You can take it from there, Duffman, but anyone with an ego, or a narcissistic view of himself as this is a threat to the world if he wins the election.

9. Let me just 'qualify' my above remarks by saying:
As you'all know I'm a Hillary Clinton fan and I still maintain we made the wrong choice and we don't know enough about Dalai Obama and thus I don't know if I can vote for him (unless possibly Hillary was his running-mate). Am I afraid he'll be like former President Carter? In a word 'yes'; however the obvious difference is that he is not a mealy-mouth speaker as our former President was and I would hope that we've 'learned something' from those days. Here's hopin! :)

Bottom line is that I just may exercise my right as a naturalized American citizen to not vote for POTUS this time around, or like I've said 'write-in'...yet to decide...

*** UPDATE *** From NBC's Jim Miklaszewski and Courtney Kube
A U.S. military official tells NBC News they were making preparations for Sen. Barack Obama to visit wounded troops at the Landstuhl Medical Center at Ramstein, Germany on Friday, but "for some reason the visit was called off."

One military official who was working on the Obama visit said because political candidates are prohibited from using military installations as campaign backdrops, Obama's representatives were told, "he could only bring two or three of his Senate staff member, no campaign officials or workers." In addition,
"Obama could not bring any media. Only military photographers would be permitted to record Obama's visit."

The official said "We didn't know why" the request to visit the wounded troops was withdrawn. "He (Obama) was more than welcome. We were all ready for him."

This scumbag isn't fit to kiss a wounded PFC's shoes, let alone be President.

It is the off-teleprompter that shows the guy is out of his league.

And, as for the ability to run a budget. He is blowing through his campaign cash worse than anything a Republican president, who shall remain unnamed, ever did. Absolutely no clue on running a business. While he doesn't run the campaign, he gets briefings on how the money is spent.

The only thing that Queen Chrissy "created" is a $2.7 BILLION deficit.

The only JOBS she's "created" are a massive increase in state government jobs.

And yet, you consistently fail to give her all the credit she has coming for THOSE accomplishments.

Now.... why is that?

Queen Chrissy is the Jimmy Carter of governors. That you could somehow be proud of that, let alone continue to support it, just shows 3what a partisan hack you really are.

26. "Facts",

If former attorney general created all those jobs, then where is the revenue associated with them? Creating 200,000 more jobs - meaning 8% more working adults - should have this state swimming in money!

So why the deficit? Why has the budget swung more than $4 BILLION from a surplus and rainy day fund to a massive deficit?

Those "jobs" she created - Government employees or "do you want fries with that?" type jobs.

REAL jobs are fleeing this state. Businesses are closing and moving out. The former attorney general is not counting the losses, which outweigh the private industry gains.

So you would rather spend a day at DMV than an hour?

I do neither. I use the web and mail to handle the DMV. Imagine that - you can actually avoid using government employees! I bet we could eliminate 90% of the DMV duties by automating through the web...

Jobs don't count?

See above - the jobs she's reporting are bogus. We're losing jobs, we're losing tax base, and the former attorney general keeps spending more, more, more!

TVA?

I fail to see what Tennessee has to do with Washington. It's a nice state, but what does that have to do with our election here?

New Deal?

Yes, it's only bankrupting the US. You do realize that nearly 70% of the Federal budget is entitlements and legally mandated spending, don't you? That Social Security and Medicare are on the edge of imploding. Ponzi schemes always fail at some point, and the Democrats and the Gregoire refuse to allow any discussion about addressing the problems.

G.I. Bill?

You mean the bill that was actually passed, written by REPUBLICAN Warren Atherton, not the scrapped and much more limited version thrown up by FDR? Glad to know you recognize that responsible and worthy piece of REPUBLICAN legislation as a paragon of Governmental duty...

I wish the Republicons stood for accountability

Name a time in the last 20 years when the Republicans had control of the State of Washington.

When you are done with that, tell me how the accountability of the former attorney general is working with her refusal to address the budget deficit until AFTER the election.

Tell me about her accountability with giveaways of hundreds of millions of dollars to line her own personal re-election pockets with a few hundred thousand.

28. The reason the race is close is that for most of us it is simply a continuation of 2004. There is still a huge leadership vacuum in this state and Dino is a natural to fill it. All I have heard so far is a pathetic attempt too morph Rossi into GWB. Four years is a long time to accomplish nothing and four months is to short a time to cover up a mediocre job performance. The Democratic strategist will be required to embellish the current administrations record in order to run an effective campaign and I am sure that most voters will see right through this sort of facade. A good example is the first reelect Gregoire ( "were lucky to have her in our corner") TV commercial.

Posted by: ROCKETMAN on July 25, 2008 12:04 PM
29. Not only did Queenie forget to file a lawsuit on time, she blamed it on a staffer who was quite ill at the time, and that resultant law suit cost the state a few million $ more.

A real leader would have accept public responsibility, and coached her assistant on deadlines, etc. Instead we get typical democrat blame avoidance where it's never her fault.

That's why I have nothing but contempt for that horrid woman. She's a bigger loser than Jimmy Carter, nothing more than a self-serving ladder climbing bureaucrat that couldn't manage a lemonade stand, and is so over her head that our state is suffering as a result.

The Dali Bama is much the same. Always blame a staffer, never accomplish a thing in life, and always seek the next higher office.

30. I seriously can't see how there could be any doubts about who will be occupying the White House after yesterday's *stunning speech by Dalai Obama

The latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll is making headlines today for what it paradoxically says about the state of the 2008 contest and about the candidates themselves. The poll of registered voters gives Obama a six-point lead. (Polls of "likely voters" tend to be more accurate and conservative.) But on a number of key measurements, Senator McCain scores very well, highlighting, as the Wall Street Journal notes, voters' unease with Obama. For example: Asked which candidate had better experience, respondents chose Senator McCain by 34-point margin, 53%-to-19%. This point is best highlighted by the fact that Senator McCain spent more time in a North Vietnamese POW camp than Barack Obama has spent in the United States Senate!

Asked which candidate would be a better commander-in-chief, respondents chose Senator McCain by a 28-point margin, 53%-to-25%.

Asked which candidate had strong leadership qualities, respondents chose Senator McCain by an 11-point margin, 42%-to-31%.

When asked which candidate was most consistent in standing up for his beliefs, voters chose Senator McCain by an eight-point margin, 38%-to-30%.

When asked which candidate was more honest and straightforward, voters again chose Senator McCain, 33%-to-29%.

When asked which candidate's values and background voters could most identify with, 58% of voters chose Senator McCain. This is a critical question because, above all else, voters want to be able to sleep at night knowing they can trust the president when the "phone rings at 3:00 in the morning."

The pollsters also asked this interesting question: "Who do you think would be the riskier choice for president?" By a 20-point margin, 55%-to-35%, voters said Barack Obama would a "riskier" choice for president.

I am not comparing Obama with Hitler with respect to policies or anything of that, but just of the oratory ability to mesmerize the audience.)

Contemplate the fact that history has an odd way of repeating itself... watch the video!

***

Isn't it delicious that with all the hoopla and adoration of the messiUH and the chrissy queen, that neither can pull forward in the polls, that both are in a virtual tie? Do their adoring sheep... er, masses ever stop slobbering long enough to wonder why?

31. I think that the "real" reason that Gregoire is doing so poorly is that she has so little to run on. She is still running against a GOP "boogeyman" and telling us that if you think it's bad now, just wait until a Republican gets elected.

The Obama phenomenon is based on a rejection of the traditional party line that has failed to create new ideas or solutions to old problems. Gregoire has been all party line.

I doubt very heavily that Obama would have as much difficulty deciding the fate of the 520 bridge, the viaduct, or our ferry system. He would at least be able to say something coherent that made sense.

Obama is going to draw a lot of democratic leaning young voters, but they won't necessarily be Democrats. These voters are more likely to be better informed and they are fed up with no solutions coming out of Olympia.

That is why Gregoire is in trouble. These Obama voters aren't going to have any problem splitting the ticket and voting for Rossi. Rossi supporters are fired up after the last election. Obama supporters aren't likely to be fired up for Gregoire because she isn't dealing with the most obvious problems facing this state.

It's just more of the same, and we can't expect a different result when we keep doing more of the same. We are past due for some housecleaning in the Governor's office. Rossi isn't exactly my cup of tea, but I might give it a try after four years of not getting anything resolved.

32. I wouldn't make too much of Obama -- his own party failed to coalesce around him, and he was elected mostly by partisans in the caucus, not the primary states.

Gregoire is the last gasp of the local insiders to retain control over Washington. For many years, the deal was: the locals run the state, the outsiders run Microsoft and the businesses. The outsiders get the cake, the locals get the crumbs.

Unfortunately, there's no more cake. So now the outsiders want the crumbs and the locals don't want to give them any.

43. Let's see how the primary goes before getting all excited about the Governor race, which so far appears to be no contest.

I'm saving my money for after the votes are in, and then adding a big Obama boost to the primary numbers to get a sense of the general election results.

Sure, lots of Democrats like Joel Connelly are complaining about the Gregoire campaign - because she's not running to the left, but to where most voters are on a wide range of issues.

All Gregoire needs to do to win convincingly is to get a few more older people to vote and overcome the anti-Gregoire vote among Democrats in King County that resulted from her primary fight with Ron Sims.

People in King, Snohomish and Pierce counties appear to be far more comfortable with Gregoire now, than they were four years ago, when she was mostly unfamiliar to most - even though she had been Attorney General. That's a common problem for AGs - people know who they are, but they rarely get very familiar with them, so support can be wide, but pretty shallow.

I'd bet Gregoire's base of support is much deeper this year.

How many voters who voted for Rossi last time are voting for Gregoire this time??
ANSWER: ZERO

For your dream to come true, she will have to rely on new voters anti-R sentiment.

PS--
There are plenty of voters who voted for Gregoire last time that are disgruntled.
Look at the list of groups endorsing Rossi..
Start with the Washington Restaurant Assoc.
They were neutral last time.
The Hospitality Industry is HUGE.

49. So, any of you hear about the BIAW lawsuits? BIAW members suing their board for their illegal contributions, and now former Supreme Court Justices are suing BIAW for their illegal campaign contributions to Rossi. In fact it appears crimes were committed, and there may even be prison on the horizon.

You want to call Christine corrupt? Gimme a break. It's all you got. Slime, slime, slime.

America is sick of GOP slime.

The Republiconvict Party is dead. They just haven't all been arrested yet.

I know, I know. All them facts and stuff....

Good thing Rossi has McKenna (soon to be replaced a Democrat) covering for him, and his friends.

Republiconvicts are just one big criminal enterprise from top to bottom. The only operate because folks like yourselves refuse to open your eyes. The Sargent Schultz types.

Slime, fraud, slime, fraud etc. A typical Republicon campaign. Facts? Not so much....

Why should we elect a Governor who took a balanced budget and a $1 billion dollar rainy day fund and turned it into a $3 billion dollar deficit? In four years, that represents a billion dollars a year blown in the budget.

53. Facts: Obviously, you did not read this part of the article:

BIAW plans to respond to the September lawsuit in the "next few days" and is likely to file a countersuit, said Timothy Harris, the organization's general counsel. He called the lawsuit "ludicrous."

"They know how we spend the money," he said of the plaintiffs. "The bottom line is they knowingly signed a contract, and now they are going after us because they don't like our political speech."

BIAW has supported a number of Republican candidates and promotes pro-housing policies, which often puts it at odds with environmental groups.

Home building is the bread and butter for BIAW's 13,500 members.

BIAW also says that it is upfront with its fee structure.

"You have to be a moron to not understand how our retro program works. It's in the contract; everyone knows how we spend the money," said Erin Shannon, BIAW spokeswoman in Olympia.

The organization also handles the paperwork for L&I worker's-compensation claims on behalf of its members.

"This program is run just like any other private business. We provide a service. We sign a contract," Shannon said. "We obviously receive payment. If you don't like it, you are free to shop around and go elsewhere."

Bottom line, BIAW is not a union. It is a Builder's Association, and the builders can join a different association if they do not like the political lobbying of BIAW geared to help builders stay in business.

55. All Facts, is name calling all you're capable of?

There are good and decent people of all political stripes. People who care about the future of this state and this country. People who treat others with respect and dignity regardless of what tools they believe are best suited to reach that end.

I have many dear friends and family members with whom I disagree politically. Nevetheless, I love them passionately and would never wish them ill.

How sorry I am for you that you can't see or say anything other than spite or bile when it regards other human beings with whom you disagree.

Politics matters. But life is far too short to wallow in anger and hatred over issues that men and women of good conscience have debated far longer than any of us have walked the earth.

The sun is shining, it's a glorious day in the Northwest. Take a walk and count your blessings.

56. Thanks for your comments Jack. In my honest opinion, I view the GOP as a cancer on our democracy. Not because I disagree with them, for I agree with many conservative (Republicons are not conservatives, but looters) policies, but because they operate as a criminal enterprise at every level. From their lying, torturing, war criminal pathetic leaders, to their dishonest media slime machine.

It is not about hate (for them) but for love for my country. The country people like Bush, and his billionaire buddies are destroying in a thousand ways, with the help from their enablers.

There are many ignorant, uninformed Americans stupid enough to think Republicons belong in government. Anyone with half a brain, and any respect for our nation's laws, and our constitution, wants them behind bars, along with a few Dems too.

When it comes to torturing people, it is not about politics. It is about war crimes.

If Democrats put up a superior candidate, I will consider voting for him or her. Traitors and ecolunatics need not apply. In your weed induced fog you must realize that socialism cannot exits without capitalism. Torture? You equate panties-on-head with beheading of a fully conscious American citizen? So standing by the Geneva Convention is sympathizing with monsters?

Some news for you, and your fascist friends. If we torture, we are as bad as them. Get it? Reagan's "city on the hill" is just as evil as our enemies.

It's not that Kerry, or Gore were not superior to Bush, it is the fact that Bush's supporters would vote for Atilla the Hun, before Democrats. They have been brainwashed that severely.

By the way. If Rove is so innocent, and the Justice Department was not practicing political prosecutions, then they would have gladly turned over those millions of missing emails to prove their innocence right?

Yeah right.

We hung Japanese soldiers for the very same crimes we are ourselves committing.

Go to PBS and watch Bill Moyer's interview with Jane Mayer. (The Dark Side: The Inside Story of How The War on Terror Turned into a War on American Ideals)

It will make you proud of being an American, if you are one sick puppy.

What bothered her the most, was the fact that we were torturing people who we had strong doubts as to their being "bad guys", and we tortured them anyway.

Of course you won't watch this. You don't want to know. You live in a fear based pretend world right?

Sargent Schultz types....

I understand people want to kill us. Because of the heinous acts our government (with your approval I assume) commits upon innocent/guilty people, far more people want to kill us. Thank You Very Much. I just love having millions want to see me and you killed.

Geneva Convention = No torturing of prisoners. You can read it any time you want.

Anti Worker

Christine, and our legislature should be given a medal. Our state is flourishing, while the rest of the country is sinking. From what I understand we had a lot of infrastructure that needed repair, and we needed to spend $$$ to keep our roads safe, along with other things.

The GOP can help us continue our prosperity if they want. They can stand for accountability, and responsibility, and shine the light on every action, to make sure we are led by honest people, on both sides of the aisle. They can also work to get the special interest money (like tribes and BIAW) out of our state's politics for good.

BTW I remember Maverick McCain working to get the special interest money out of politics (I applauded him for his efforts back then) but now he is begging for it big time. It is so so sad. He must be hating life. Having to kiss Hagee, and Parsley's asses to get the nomination. That's gotta suck.

66. The numbers aren't in for our state's budget. We don't know for sure how it will turn out having the state pay for services with dollars worth 60 cents, and no federal help any more.

Well, you may want to talk to Frank Chopp about that. It's been known since February of this year that we have a massive deficit coming.

Guess what - for the former attorney general (and you) - you can't just stick your head in the sand and ignore the problem.

So your answer is that because we don't know just how bad the deficit really will be, we are to ignore the whole existence of it. Yes, that is wonderful!

Geneva Convention = No torturing of prisoners. You can read it any time you want.

Sure. I agree 100%. Now tell me what part of the Geneva Convention is violated by Gitmo?

You have never presented a single fact here, just your own assumptions. And you've been proven wrong time and again. And will continue to be shown to be ignorant of reality, and nothing but a democrat shill.

So I ask you once again:

1. Why should we elect a Governor who took a balanced budget and a $1 billion dollar rainy day fund and turned it into a $3 billion dollar deficit?

2. What part of the Geneva Convention is violated by Gitmo?

Wow!! 'All Fax support my delusions' must be living in an alternate reality. Queen Christine has reigned over the worst 4 year period in Washington history while her sycophant's carry her water for her while ignoring reality all together. It's amazing how supposedly intelligent people can stick their head in the sand for so long like Gregoire's defenders do. Alas, Ignorance is bliss as they say.

70. I love it. The cry goes up "ban facts, ban facts" for he disagrees!!!! What Republiconvicts call debate. Ignore all who disagree!!! (like 95% of the planet)

Rick. "Worst 4 years" really? None of my houses here have gone down in value 30% to 40% like my condo in Miami, a state run by corrupt Republiconvicts that DID NOT LIMIT DEVELOPERS PROPERLY.

Why are you upset? Has your job been outsourced? Has your health care been stripped, after they discovered you were sick? Have you been laid off, and replaced by a non union worker at half your salary? Have you had to go bankrupt because you have a sick child? Are your kids being arrested because both their parents have to work full time to pay on their credit cards, and can't bring them up proper? Has your Enron, or Worldcom (TIAA CREF took a huge hit on that one) stock disappeared because of lack of oversight, and outright un/little prosecuted fraud? You can't get a loan? You can't sell your house for what you owe on it? The list of problems caused mainly by "conservative" economic policies, and trickle up "rich get richer-poor get poorer" attitudes is endless.

I wish the GOP did something good for our state. I am tired of hearing them crying constantly. The problems we all face are not exactly the making of Christine Gregoire. They are mainly caused by people with uncontrolled greed, and no respect for their fellow man, or for good/open/accountable/responsible government, in our state of our nations capitol.

They would rather let corporations, defense contractors, a corrupt dishonest right wing controlled media, and rich people chose for us how we are to live our lives, and raise our children.

71. No, don't ban it, use it. Facts can't defend it's position because facts doesn't believe in anything. You can take anyone of the rants above and relate them to the 24 years of uninterupted Democratic rule in Washington State. He/She/It will never admit it and He/She/It isn't involved enough in their community to change it. Facts is simply a serial complainer, a hanger on in life, never having done anything of significance. Fact's can't relate to anything from a personal basis because facts has never lived life. Fact's opinions will never be taken seriously, but don't ban it, pity it and use it as a yeardstick to measure the desperation of those with no new ideas hoping to hold on to the corrupt power base they have created.

You make me laugh. Gore got less than 50% of the popular vote too, you pinhead. It doesn't matter. Ever heard of the Electoral College? All of that other crap was debunked a long time ago. You are living in the past. Since you are though, consider this, would Algore be President today if he had carried Tennessee...his own state? Think about it. His own state didn't want him as President. Assuming all that nonsense you quoted was true, and Bush did steal the election, how do you justify the flap over our last gubernatorial election here in Washington State? Two wrongs make a right? It's just payback? When Democrats start accusing someone of something, it just means that it is Democrats that are engaging in that activity themselves.

We hung Japanese soldiers for the very same crimes we are ourselves committing.

Are you insane? You compare American troops with the Japanese military in World War II? The Japanese raped and murdered some 300,000 people in Nanking alone. Some estimate that 30 million Chinese died at the hands of the Japanese. The Japanese were beheading our boys in the Pacific ...AND EATING THEM. You, no doubt, would consider it torture if someone took away your bong. Sheesh!

Before you start defining me Smokie, you should go to drinking liberally, and meet me. Who I am, and what I have accomplished in my lifetime, though not nearly enough by my standard, may amaze you.

What is the penalty for one murder? One million murders?

The same.

Since we have not slaughtered as many innocent souls as the Japanese, or tortured as many, it makes our sickening acts of torture, and murder tolerable to you right?

America may never recover from Reaganomics. Their plan was to wipe out the middle class, and they are succeeding. Just not as much in this state. Even Bushonomics, and the GOP control of all 3 branches of government for years has had limited effect destroying our state's economy. We are beginning to feel the pinch now though.

We are fortunate to live in such a wonderful state, with as many opportunities. Thank God we have had Democrats in charge for so long.

God Bless Christine Gregoire, and Gary Locke. You may want to thank Patty Murry, and Maria Cantwell while you are at it, along with a few outstanding congresspeople too.

As far as the legislature? They gotta fix this idiotic real estate bill FAST.

Posted by: Rick D. on July 27, 2008 12:22 PM
75. Facts:
-Murray and Cantwell are widely considered the worst pair of Senators from one state in the history of the US Senate, in that they are utterly ineffective, and not respected by their peers.
-Jim McDermott, convicted, is just the eccentric uncle everyone tolerates in the House. Utterly ineffective as a Congressman.
-Gregoire, a career dimwit bureacrat, deadline misser, has presided over a 1/3 increase in spending and 1/3 increase in state employees, not to mention outright legalized theft of state employees' earnings via compulsory union dues.

What is is about facts, history, and reality that liberals find so inconvenient, and therefore ignore?

What is it like being in Disneyland 24/7, for decades, ever since your were 7 yrs old?
