Republican Battle in the 6th LD

Over in Spokane, things seem to be getting testy in the Republican race to squeeze through the top two primary and topple sitting Democratic Representative Don Barlow.

I caught wind of that in noting a post over on the public blog, which calls out Republican Mel Lindauer. He responded in the comments and I don't have any confirmation of who is right and who isn't (though I'm always open to additional information at ericearling at gmail dot com...hint, hint).

The post sent me to Lindauer's website, including this page of purported poll results intent on harming his competitor Kevin Parker.

As of this typing, the PDC website shows $63,760 in cash contributions for Parker, $46,258 for Lindauer. Meanwhile, Parker's endorsements include a goodly collection of local GOP heavyweights, various community leaders, and assorted interest groups weighing in on the race. Lindauer's list by comparison, just like his contributors, is excessively weighted with his fellow optometrists. The only interest group support he has secured, aside from his fellow eye docs, is joint primary endorsements from Human Life of WA and the Spokane Realtors.

We've seen such formulas before when candidates with a narrow base of support squeak through a primary to take on a Democratic incumbent in a suburban seat (which is what the 6th LD now is in many respects). They get killed.

That won't do anybody any good. Parker easily looks to be the best candidate in the race. His background and issue agenda are exactly what the GOP needs in Olympia right now.

Here's hoping he cruises through the primary and on to a successful November.

1. Just to save some folks some time, don't bother trying to post comments over in the public thread -- "no longer enabled".

What I asked was some clarification on what was posted and publicly available. Saying "there were not 15 lawsuits" could mean "there were 30 lawsuits". It *does* come off as a bit evasive.

Just a suggestion.

2. Even more important that living in the legislative district for a given length of time is being able to SPELL the word LEGISLATIVE, Mel.

3. Lindauer,
Why won't you respond to my post? I have asked you legitimate questions regarding your character and your campaign. As a voter I believe in order for you to win my vote, you must answer my questions in an honest and forthright way.
Also, what are you trying to prove with your poll? Do you really think the average voter is stupid enough to not see through your sham and biased polls and realize that they really mean nothing other than to convey your pathetic point that you are some how more morally upright than your opponents? Seriously, show some backbone and talk about the issues and your solutions to them rather than your distorted, vindictive, and whiny views of your opponents. Why are you running for office anyway?

4. What is really interesting is that the VAST majority of Lindauer's money is coming from the coast and Puget Sound area. In contrast, Kevin Parker's contributions are coming in from local areas in and around Spokane and eastern Washington.

The far more liberal republicans in the Seattle area are making an attempt to control the outcome of GOP races here in eastern Washington. Kevin Parker deserves the nod and financial support. Vote for Kevin Parker to represent our values and interests NOT Seattle's!!
