A Message from Don Ward

Former Sound Politics contributor Don Ward sends the below note now that his new gig at the Seattle Weekly has started (you can read his big cover story and catch him on assorted Weekly blogs):

About two years ago I asked Stefan if could contribute some entries here at Sound Politics. And I can't thank him enough for saying yes.

Having been given the keys to the Ford Country Squire, it has been a blast tearing up and down the political highways and byways, honking the horn, waving at pretty girls and smashing a few mailboxes along the way.

Sadly, the joy-ride has to come to an end as does my time writing here for Sound Politics.

This hicktown reporter has been given a heck of an opportunity. I've been asked to join the Seattle Weekly as their newest online contributor. Some of you may have already taken a gander at my cover story in this week's edition and seen a familiar byline. (If you haven't, you should. It's a good read).

It has been a long, hard scrap professionally to have gotten this far. You can't gauge the excitement I now feel being able to be finally part of a publication that I've wanted to join for so long.

Hopefully you readers and commenters will take the time in your busy day to make the Seattle Weekly part of your daily read. I'll be posting on a more frequent basis and should have something new up at least every day.

It has been more than fun tagging up with Stefan, Eric, Jim Miller and Pudge. Now that Ron Hebron is back and we have some new talent like Warren Peterson, Sound Politics should continue to be in good hands.

2. I would be more than happy to write "reality based" articles for Sound Politics...

3. Congrats Don. Good luck in the mainstream media. Don't let it change you.

4. "I would be more than happy to write "reality based" articles for Sound Politics.."

Distorted reality.

How about an article on how Gregoire whored herself out to the tribes?

Or maybe an article on the reality of the FACT that the Democrat party is racist and uses ethnic slurs against Italian Americans.

Or perhaps the realiy that come November, we are probably looking at a $3 BILLION deficit from this SELECTED governor.

5. Well Don
It looks like maybe you are ready to trade in that old Ford Squire and move up to a Buick Estate Wagon. Congrats and have fun.

6. Hey Don--
Please educate the educated Seattle Bourgeois Bohemians about what their pal Nancy Pelosi is up to. Madam speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to put a Windfall Tax on all stock market profits (including Retirement fund, 401K and Mutual Funds! Alas , it is true - all to help the 12 Million Illegal Immigrants and other unemployed Minorities!

This woman is frightening .
She quotes . . . ' We need to work toward the goal of equalizing income, (didn't Marx say something like this), in our country and at the same time limiting the amount the rich can invest . '

When asked how these new tax dollars would be spent, she replied:
' We need to raise the standard of living of our poor, unemployed and minorities . For example, we have an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in our country who need our help along with millions of unemployed minorities . Stock market windfall profits taxes could go a long way to guarantee these people the standard of living they would like to have as ' Americans ' . ' (Read that quote again and again and let it sink in . ' Lower your retirement, give it to others who have not worked as you have for it ' .

Now even the LEFTY's who read the Weekly will be interested in this as many of them have big 401k's and other retirement accounts.

You have a big job Don...educating educated LEFTIST PINHEADED KLOWNS.
Start by focusing on their pocketbook & investments.

9. pbj@4,
Come on now, he did put "reality based" in quotes and I found that quite refreshing. Seemed to almost be an acknowledgement of the "reality" in his alternate universe.

10. Best of luck Don. You'll be missed here, especially your humor and satire. It was alot better than the lame clown pieces we've got now.

11. Hey guys. Thanks for the warm wishes. The fact that my seven most favorite commenters chose to chime in is especially touching.

12.
Seattle Weekly?

After all this...what prompted you to come out of the closet and proclaim yourself "Openly Liberal"?

14. Congratulations, Don! The quality of writing and reporting at the Seattle Weekly just got better. :-)

BTW, I enjoyed reading your first article there. I was a long time subscriber to the KCJ, right up 'till the bitter end. I remember reading that paper when it was the Bellevue American and through all of its makeovers. It was a sad day when it ceased publication, and I was glad to learn the back story.

15. Don, I wish you the best. I liked the cover story, too...I was wondering why the local Port Orchard paper had a balanced opinion page (i.e. not overtly hostile to a conservative perspective). It's owned by Mr. Black.

16. #4, So you don't know any politicians that "whore" themselves out to the drug companies, energy companies, defense contractors, or anyone else right?

And you of course have evidence of quid pro quo, as like in the money Satterburg got laundered into his campaign a few months back too right?

This is how the game is played, I am sorry to say.

I sure couldn't see any tribes giving money to the GOP though. It's not like the GOP cares about anyone with a net worth not in the millions......

I for one, am for public financing of all elections, and giving money to a politician should be a crime. How do you think the people that really run our government run our government? Not for the good of the public, that's for sure. For their own good.

Don't like the system? Push for public financing. Till then, stop pointing fingers. By the way, what is this $1,000,000 thing the BIAW plans on spending on Rossi? Hmmmmm. Is Rossi a whore too?

17. An unhinged HA pimp says, "It's not like the GOP cares about anyone with a net worth not in the millions......"

The GOP cares about its base, what's left of it, and it's base isn't brie-bloated plutocrats. The net-worth-in-the-millions crowd lives in Obamanation on the libtard Left.

Our base lives in the real world where we cling bitterly to God and our guns. We the people are the GOP base. We're the people you Obama snobs make fun of.

And are you really so pimped out to Goldybama greed (Andrea Mitchell reported weeks ago that most of Obama's bankroll comes from fatcat Democrat bundlers & lobbyists) that you're oblivious to the pathetic irony of your cheerleading for public financing of campaigns? The public financing that bogtrotter Barry O'Bama promised to take and then flipped off in a flip flop?

(& libtard brie? That's a dish best eaten cold with fava beans & a nice chianti.)
