An interesting coincidence

Seattle Times editorialist Bruce Ramsey is complaining about the US. DoJ's efforts against Peter Egner, the Serbian-born Bellevue resident who is accused of lying on his U.S. citizenship application to conceal his membership in a Nazi death squad which slaughtered 17,000 innocent people. Ramsey calls the move to strip Egner of his citizenship and deport him "not worth all this effort and attention."

With all the other issues he could choose to spend his time writing about, I have no idea why Ramsey would bother to argue against bringing justice upon someone accused of participating in Nazi genocide and procuring U.S. citizenship under false pretenses .

But it's an interesting coincidence that Ramsey also recently defended the Nazi's objective of "Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Fuehrer" with the line that "What Hitler was demanding was not unreasonable".

2. Pacific Grove Phlash -- my German isn't perfect, but it's good enough to know that what you wrote above is pretty badly bungled. What are you trying to say?

7. Engers mistake was applying for citizenship. If he had just snuck in like everyone else they would be sending him to college now instead of deporting him. Most amazing is that it took DOJ 45 years to nail this guy. Cold case solved!

11. Wasn't the appeasing U.S. Senator that Bush condemned in his speech to the Knesset -- the one who said "if we could have only talked with Hitler" -- wasn't that Senator a REPUBLICAN from Idaho? (the same state and party as Larry "Wide Stance" Craig)

In any event, the pro-Nazi Seattle Times editorial board tends to be pro-Republican as well. I am sure they will endorse Dino Rossi this year.

12. Okay, let me get this straight - we are going to go after some dried out old Nazi and turn around and allow radical islmists to set up mosks that are nothing more than recruiting centers for young people who subscribe to everything Nazism stood for????? WTF Homer.

13. So... uh Richard... do you have a point? What difference does it make? Appeasers then are not appeasers now. Leftists are the party of appeasers.

TRY to stay on point, will you? THERE'S a good chap.

14. It's just another iteration in an endless cycle of vengeance and abuse of power in the name of religion, ethnicity, or nationality. Each individual instance seems so clear cut - Some crimes (such as those perpetrated by the einsatzgruppe) are so heinous as to be unforgivable no matter the intervening time. Still though, it saddens me to see how little people think of the true circumstances that led someone's little baby down the path that leads to this. Do some research on the treaty of Versaille and the economic and social conditions of the Weimar republic. Do some research on British treatment of crown colonies in the middle east. Do some thinking about the implications of hatred and bitterness. The word "appeaser" is related to the word "peace", from the latin word "pacem". It sounds so negative from the likes of JDH though, as if those who forsake a single-minded focus on vengeance are somehow failing their moral obligation to the victims of the past. You're part of the sickness, my friend.

15. "Lord, if only I could have talked to Hitler, all of this might have been avoided."

William Edgar Borah
US Senator (R-Idaho)

One must keep in mind that there's a role reversal here. In the 30s and 40s the Rs were isolationist, and it was a D president who fortunately got the US involved in the Great War; although his socialist programs are destroying the US.

Today the Ds are isolationist appeasers who arrogantly and smugly believe that their rhetorical skills are so superior that they can convince a madman such as Ahmadinejad that his vision of the apocalypse where the destruction of Israel and the US prepares the way for the 12th Mhadi is not of a rational mind.

One can't reason with a madman, and the Ds attempt such a thing. Does that not make them madmen too?

18. Stefan, why attack Bruce Ramsey?

He's the only economically literate columnist I know of in the old media in Seattle.

He's pro-gun rights as well.

Did he offend you?

I'm not soft on Nazis, but Egner must be in his 90's by now. Is this really an important case? If so, why?
