Barack Hussein Carcetti

We've all been hearing about the current cover of the New Yorker magazine, featuring a hilarious satire on Barack and Michelle Obama and the alleged prejudices of those who won't be voting for Obama. But all we've really learned from that cover is how humorless are The Obamessiah and his teenager-like fans in the media.

Behind the cover is an article about Obama's rise through Chicago politics, which is long, but worth reading. Along with this earlier article by a reporter who knew young state senator Obama, there's a pretty consistent picture -- a shallow, scheming machine politician who asserts a naive, mawkish liberalism, but is consumed above all else with running for his own next higher office. He gives a good speech, cuts the right deals, and spins a good spin, making up what he needs to make up, and shrewedly plays the political game to achieve his own rung-climbing goals. But other than that, he doesn't actually ever accomplish anything for his constituents (okay, to be fair, Obama did accomplish something).

Although Obama's uplifting campaign message of "hope", "change" and unicorns might seem like it's borrowed from "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington", we recognize in the real Obama a different fictional politician. Fans of the brilliant HBO series The Wire should surely see in Barack Obama an awful lot of Tommy Carcetti.

1. The reason the New Yorker cover is so funny is that there is a grain of truth in how Barack and Michelle are portrayed.

2. The really frustrating part of all of this is the implication that you are racist if you don't support BHO (see New York Times Poll). In truth, his policies are ultra liberal, his connections are highly questionable and he has less experience in matters of executive leadership and foreign policy than any candidate in the last fifty years! He is a cold, calculating politician with a ton of failed socialist ideas who just happens to be very skilled at reading from cue cards and fits the media profile of "fresh, new and exciting." The fact that the Republicans are running the worst candidate since Bob Dole is the only reason that Obama is still even in the picture!

4. Obamasia wants to shackle the 2nd and 1st amendment now...nice to see.

Who is this guy? Do you know? I don't. I only suspect a Socialist/Nationlist. He believes the government should run the live of citizens. The Gov knows best!

Lib's that follow him, folks will to the gas chambers....either as a gaser or gasee...btw - i love Logans run too.... don't you. hehehehe

Seriously, I don't want the governement to tell me how to live...just provide security and infrastructure. Thanks.

5. Stefan:

I think you're not giving Carcetti enough credit.

6. I go to church every Sunday, and when the news came out about his church's pastor's comments, I thought to myself "how could he be silent. How could he not take a stand."

The Houston story is very insightful. I wish everyone would read it before they vote. Now it seems BHO was silent many other times as well. How could he be silent? The answer seems to be political expediency, for his next run for office.

So, will he take any bold stands? Or will he just kowtow to the Fannie Mae crowd like Jim "please find me a VP" Johnson, or Teddy "let's fight global warming but don't let a wind mill spoil my view" Kennedy.

I was vaguely aware of his bill taping police interrogations. I had never heard the word "bill jacking" before, where a speaker transfers ownership of a bill as a way to "make" someone. The payback in terms of "steak" has obviously been quite nice for the speaker.

7. "The reason the New Yorker cover is so funny is that there is a grain of truth in how Barack and Michelle are portrayed."

The only truth in that picture is that the Obama's will be standing in the Oval Office at this time next year.

As to your little comparison, Obama does remind me of someone... Maybe it's Lincoln, who, from a young age wrote of his aspirations to join the likes of Thomas Jefferson and George Washington, or perhaps LBJ, who became deeply depressed every time it seemed like his shot at the presidency was lost. It's better one of those guys than our most recent example of a president who didn't have a great ambition, but was lucky enough to be part of America's royalty.

8. "The only truth in that picture is that the Obama's will be standing in the Oval Office at this time next year."

Possibly. Pleading with President John Sydney McCain for an ambassadorship or some other post within the McCain administration no doubt....afterall, Obama doesn't have any use for the people of Illinois once a "higher rung" appears on the horizon.

9. This is a classic test of style vs. substance. Most of the media naturally assume that style is substance.

Posted by: Red on July 16, 2008 06:14 PM
10. It really DOESN'T seem that Obama's actually done anything except get elected to office. Well, he DID try really hard in Illinois to make sure that babies who survived abortion got left to die on some utility shelf somewhere instead of given medical aid. But I wouldn't brag about that one, if I were Barack Hussein Obama.

I once heard John Carlson say people run for office to DO something or to BE something. From the looks of Obama's glaring lack of accomplishments in office, he seems to want to only BE something.

11. ..and btw---he claims he will unite the country. But wait---he can't even unite his own party! Check out blog.pumapac.org and read about all the democrat Hillary-voter women who are disgusted with this guy and who won't vote for him come Nov. They will stay home or vote for McCain.

12. Has anybody else here seen the email going around that speculates BHO wasn't born in the USA as he has so far refused to produce a birth certificate proving so?

Posted by: PC on July 16, 2008 10:39 PM
13. BO is just another slick talking Marxist. Change requires a direction. And that direction is a crippling of the US economy, our energy policy, and a defacto subordination to the World Court, UN and the world's despots.

It's unlikely that BO will get elected. There are too many moderate to middle Democrats that use fuel and energy for their businesses, cars and gas powered toys. There will be hell to pay in November for 30+ years of Democrat energy obfuscation.

14. #12: I've seen it. Type in "bryan suits obama birth certificate" and you'll see a very good article from Israel Insider about this. Bryan Suits recently obtained a copy of his HI birth certificate and has noticed certain things missing from O's that indicate O's may have been photoshopped. The copy O tries to say is his is at the very least missing the embossing that they all must have. Also, it shows no evidence of folds, as Suits' did. It's very strange and Obama should come clean as to why his certificate seems to be missing information and markings on it that should be there. The story seems to have some legs.

15. Can we all please show a little more respect for our next POTUS. :)

Posted by: Duffman on July 17, 2008 05:42 AM
16. Both Hillary and Obama are humorless--the true core of a liberal. They won't be happy until everyone is as miserable as they are.

Posted by: Walters on July 17, 2008 06:17 AM
17. Duffman,

If you're referring to Senator Obamination, respect must be earned. At this point, the Senator has done nothing to earn mine.

And what happened to your love affair with Hitlery? I thought you'd stand by your 'one and only' to the bitter end....

Posted by: Saltherring on July 17, 2008 06:17 AM
18. Yeah SH, I'm really not an Obama fan either; I just don't think we know enough about him -so my remark was a bit in jest, although I DO believe he will be elected. Me?...well at this point I will either not for for POTUS or indeed write-in Mrs Clinton. I'm still a fan of her's and I'm hoping that Sen Obama asks her to run with him and then may be I could feel justified in voting for him? I think the country will realize that they did not know Sen Obama well enough and that Hillary should have been the nominee. Oh well, it's all 'proverbial' water under the bridge now. Asi 'es la vida. :)

21. I don't think any presidential candidate should be characterized as a terrorist. Everything else, okay.

With Obama, a little different clothing to announce his radical roots, i.e. Ayres, Wright, Rezko, et. al, and you would encapsulated the essence of the DalaiBama. That would have been fair and accurate. But, the liberal New Yorker wouldn't have anything to do with that.

Also, read Maureen Dowd's take on the DalaiBama and his thin skin. Unbelievable. She is back!!!

22. For the First Time in my life I feel more qualified than a candidate for POTUS. I suspect most of us know the same thing.

Folks the bottom line...so say BHO is elected/steals the election. Whose power does he have? What we give him or what we are going to let his brown shirts keep? It's ours NOT his. Mano y Mano (See BHO I know pequeno spanish)

Also can someone find out what Keyan hospital he was born in instead of these fake Hawaiian birth certificates from photoshop.

BHO has paid NO price for anything...so we all will.

23. Hulk, rumor is that his mom was outside the US, but not in Kenya, on his birth. She purportedly may have traveled to the States shortly thereafter.

I don't think most people are concerned because the law is kind of fluky. There is no question BHO is a born citizen of the US, but for some reason, to be POTUS you have to be natural-born. Seems kind of a strange law to me.

"Obama apparently isn't much of a cyclist. But he is a runner."

Obama Spent Almost Half of Past Decade Campaigning For Higher Office

"The Obamessiah Of Pickpocket Politics"

"Half of Americans are supporting Barack Obama in the hope that he will do a better job of picking the pockets of the other half of Americans. They hope Obamessiah is a better thief than the leftists before him..."
"Let's face it... on the basis of Obama's otherwise blank résumé, petty theft is likely the only thing the south Chicago nobody might actually be qualified for. Now he hopes to graduate to grand larceny on the federal level."
"Obamessiah supporters want the things they have been trained to get from the pockets of others and they hope Obama is just the man to bring home the bacon..."
"Half of the nation now votes for thieves who will pick the pockets of their fellow Americans to provide unearned economic equality in a form of Democratic Socialism, at the expense of individual freedom and liberty."

"Here are a few important facts to keep handy when listening to carefully crafted campaign speeches..."
"Universal Health Care IS Socialized Medicine"
"A Nationalized Energy Industry IS Socialized Energy"
"Social Entitlements ARE Socialism"
"From each according to his ability; to each according to his need, IS Marxism"
"Taxation without consent or representation IS tyranny and theft"
"Truth is still true, whether anyone believes it or not"
"A Lie is still a lie, even if everyone believes it"

"Last but not least, every time you vote for someone to pick the pockets of your fellow Americans, you steal a piece of their freedom and liberty and relinquish a piece of your own."
"Barack Obama is the new Pied Piper of pickpocket politics and every modern Democrat campaign promise is based upon the concepts of Marx and Alinsky, not the men who fought for the freedom and liberty every American is called to protect and preserve."
"America had no deficits and no national debt before it became a nanny state, picking the pockets of the most productive for benefit of the least productive."
