Via Postman, I note Eli Sanders at the Stranger is commenting on the fact Democrats don't have Darcy Burner's race on their initial ad buy list, saying:
And every time you ask Democrats in the 8th why it didn't work for them the last time around, you always hear the same thing: Not enough help from D.C. [emphasis added]
Are you serious?
Both candidates spent over $3,000,000 in the 2006 cycle, each of them benefiting from a large influx of donations thanks to the high priority both parties placed on the race.
Meanwhile, independent expenditures reports [pdf] (see page 26) from the 2006 cycle show the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) spending well over $2,000,000 on the race. Indeed, the sum of such expenditures on Burner's side exceeds that on Reichert's.
Candidly, the "we didn't get enough help from the national party" is more often than not a pathetic excuse from losers on both sides of the aisle. Over $5,000,000 in total expenditures on one side of a single Congressional race is an absolutely massive amount of money. If you can't win with that, you have no business complaining about lack of resources.
As for this year, who knows why Burner isn't part of the current ad buy; no doubt she will be in the future. Meanwhile, the bigger issue is that the DCCC has a nearly 7 to 1 cash-on-hand advantage over its Republican counterpart. Burner will get her fair share of national resources when all is said and done. I'm not so sure the Reichert campaign can be so confident given current disparities.

I wish someone would spoof that radio ad and make one with the tag line, "Just like Christine Gregoire...".
Go ahead. Support a congressman that will probably get a committee assignment like the capitol restroom patrol oversight. The hair spray oversight committee? The "I vote against my party when they let me" vote counting oversight committee..... How about the fake moderate fraud committee. He could be the head of the "Using congressional mailings for campaign purposes" committee, since he has spent more than any other Washington State Congressperson in mailing spin pieces.
If the people of the 8th district really want to be represented properly, they should throw Reichert under the bus. Even if he somehow fools enough ignorant voters into re-electing him, he will be a member of the permanently shrinking Republiconvict Party.
Let me put it to you this way. Young people are joining the Democrats 2 to 3 to one, or more, and geezers are dying off like flies. There aren't enough fools to prop up they dying tire party of the rich, and large corporations.
Americans have finally figured out who is really on their side, and who only cares about billionaires, and multi-national corporation, drug, and energy companies.
It's about time.
Posted by: All Facts Support My Positions on July 12, 2008 11:04 PMHas anyone asked Darcy her position on the King County ( Ron Sims ) appeal of the CAO decision? Would she be forbidden from rebuilding her Lakefront house if Sims is successful? Perhaps she wouldn't be an 8th district resident anymore.
Will Darcy have a problem relating to "working people" since, her husband, the only employed person in the house has made enough at Microsoft to stay home and watch the 5 year old? Kinda of a tough sell for someone who has essentially retired at an age when most people still have 25 years of work to look forward to. I wonder if that will impact her position on removing the Fedral Income Tax cuts and hitting real "working families" with an increase of about $3,000 a year.

The "congress" you are referring to is not doing as well as I had hoped, I will admit. I didn't have any great expectations after the 2006 blowout by the democrats. The billionaires, and corporations' cash still run our government, and people on both sides are on the "take" as you will. Obama says he wants to change this, but it will be extremely difficult. It is a lot easier to sell out, and keep helping the ruling class rape the citizens (treasury) for the benefit of the top 1%, and large corporations.
I guess we will have to see what happens. Hopefully there will be enough Neanderthal Republiconvict Senators sent packing to override filibusters, and government may be able to start moving again. We are sinking fast. The dollar has lost 40% of it's value in the last few years, and we are now 5 trillion farther in debt than when Clinton left office with the surplus.....
Imagine how much better off we would be if Gore wasn't screwed in 2000. Heck, the rest of the world may still respect us, like they always had, instead of just hating us like today. Half our national debt would be paid off. Saddam would have 2,500 weapons inspectors parked up his ass, Bin Laden would still be hiding out somewhere, because all the terror warnings were heeded, and 9-11 was stopped before it happened, because we had a president that didn't ignore every single warning....
Posted by: All Facts Support My Positions on July 13, 2008 01:48 PMWith all the "chatter" coming in, Bush, and his cronies did not lift a finger to tighten security. Remember the memo that showed up at the ranch that was ignored? Remember the 54 separate warnings from the FAA?
Maybe Gore could have stopped 9-11, and maybe he couldn't have. At least he would have tried....
As far as Darcy fitting her district. I know Darcy. She was probably more intelligent than Reichert at age 7. I am tired of retards legislating.....
Posted by: All Facts Support My Positions on July 13, 2008 06:05 PMThis might be the most pertinent question we should all be asking ourselves.
You can debate what's fair or not fair in terms of taxes all day long. But at the end of the day there can't be much dispute that Obama is proposing significant tax hikes on Americans.
Sure, there are some folks at the lower end of the income tax brackets who will see their income taxes go down. Sure. That's great. I am all in favor of people's taxes going down. For sure.
But at the higher range of the tax brackets people are going to see their taxes go up significantly.
This will hurt the economy. These folks will have less to invest, less to spend, consumer spending will decline, and I believe our economy will suffer as a result.
But perhaps the most startling of Obama's plans involves significantly ratcheting up the tax on employers--the FICA tax. Right now employers pay 6.2% on all wages up to $102,000. Obama proposes repealing this cap. This will cause tax costs to increase significantly. If labor costs more, employers won't be able to afford as much of it and will fire people.
Furthermore, we KNOW he said he doesn't have a problem with higher gas prices, only that they tose to fasth he told us so.
Furthermore we know that he wants to penalize every single American that participates in a retirement plan, that has any sort of investment plan with higher capital gains tax: he told us so.
Furthermore, his global income reditrubution with cost all of us $845,000,000,000 over the next 13 years, in addition to our current foreign aid expenditures.: he finally sponsored a bill.
Obama Tax Policies Penalize, McCain's Reward
McCain calls for no changes to today's low rates. Obama will revert to the pre-Bush tax cut regime. Bottom line: if you're single, making $30,000, McCain will tax you $4,500. Obama will extract $8,400 from your wallet -- almost double the take! Single making $50,000: McCain's tax is $12,500; Obama's is $14,000. Single making $75,000: McCain's tax is $18,750. Obama will bite you for $23,250.
And it's no better if you're married. Married making $60,000: McCain's tax is only $9,000. Obama will hit you for $16,000. Married making $75,000: McCain's tax is $18,750, Obama's $21,000. Married making $125,000: McCain's tax is $31,250. Obama's hit -- $38,750. Ouch, Obama!
So much for Obama's plan to tax the "filthy rich". Now we know just what that means: everyone in the middle class.
I could go on and on, link after link, proof after proof, FACT after FACT...

From 9/11 sworn testimony as recorded by CNN:
GORTON: Now, since my yellow light is on, at this point my final question will be this: Assuming that the recommendations that you made on January 25th of 2001, based on Delenda, based on Blue Sky, including aid to the Northern Alliance, which had been an agenda item at this point for two and a half years without any action, assuming that there had been more Predator reconnaissance missions, assuming that that had all been adopted say on January 26th, year 2001, is there the remotest chance that it would have prevented 9/11?
CLARKE: No.
Richard Clarke's own testimony said that there was NOTHING that the Bush Administration could have done - given the information and plans provided by the Clinton administration - to prevent the 9/11 attacks. It was already in motion, and the Clinton administration did not have the information or the plan to stop it.
This one is laid SOLELY at the feet of the Clinton administration. Their own terror czar confirmed as much in sworn testimony.
Face it, NO facts support your position. Period.

Posted by: All Facts Support My Positions on July 14, 2008 07:26 AMYou're lying again... Here's a few things for you to consider:
1. Housing crisis laid fully at the feet of the Clintons. It was the repealing of the Glass-Steagall Act by President Clinton that loosened regulations on banks.
Couple that with increased pressure by the Clinton administration to force loans to high-risk people (via allowing securitization of those mortgages in the Community Reinvestment Act changes of 1995 by the Clinton administration) and you have the foundation of the meltdown.
2. Ever been out in the world? The world does not hate America; in fact, if given the chance 80% of the world would gladly move to the US. Rather, the media and many of the leaders of nations "hate" America. Most of the people do not.
But what do I know, I only live 80% of my time overseas, and have spent considerable time over the last 10 years outside the borders.
3. Energy? Slow moving? It was Nancy Pelosi who promised America in 2006 that Democrats have a commonsense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices by cracking down on price gouging, rolling back the billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies, tax breaks and royalty relief given to big oil and gas companies, and increasing production of alternative fuels. They have control of Congress, where are the bills or plans?
John McCain is on record calling for increased drilling and more nuclear plants. President Bush has called for drilling since 2001, but has been filibustered in the Senate.
What is the Democrat plan? Wait 15+ years and hope something else will come along?
If you like $4 per gallon gas, thank the Democrat Congress. When they took over it was well under $3/gallon. For a party with a "commonsense" plan, it certainly isn't working!
4. Needless war in Iraq? May I remind you of who formalized the policy of regime change in Iraq? One President Clinton.
Oh, and who said this famous line:
"Every nation has to either be with us, or against us. Those who harbor terrorists, or who finance them, are going to pay a price."
Uttered on September 13, 2001. None other than Hillary Rodham Clinton.
If you want to lay Iraq at the feet of anyone, find your gods the Clintons. The Clintons and their complicit toadies in the Democrat party.
Need I go on? You are full of lies, and are the worst kind of political shill - as self-righteous and self-important as what you believe exists on the other side.
I believe you'll ignore these facts - just like you ignored the facts about Richard Clarke and the Clinton administration's failure to stop 9/11. Inconvenient things called FACTS and the TRUTH do not matter to a hyper-partisan like you.
No, you'd ratherbe playing second fiddle to Nero as you watch him burn down the Shining City on the Hill, rather than actually hold him accountable.
Truly disgusting...
Posted by: Shanghai Dan on July 14, 2008 07:51 AMI really don't remember Richard Clarke getting a memo saying "Osama Bin Laden Determined...." and doing absolutely nothing.
Remember when Tenet, and Cofer Black woke Condi up shortly before the attacks, saying we were at a code red alert, and she, and her boss did nothing to increase security? Zero action. And you want to blame Clinton.
Hillary did vote to authorize the use of force, but I remember Bush saying he would use it only as a last resort. Another one of his lies. Bush had already told the Brits when to expect the bombing to begin. I also don't remember Clinton invading Iraq. Did I miss something? I also missed the U.N. authorizing the use of force in Iraq. You know, the that makes the invasion a crime thing.
You can defend these pathetic, lying, criminals in the Bush Administration all you want. Blaming the nightmares America has had to suffer through on the Clintons, well, that is total lunacy.
Bill Clinton: "At least I tried" remember?

You are, in fact, a liar, and one who is trying to waffle his way out of his statements. The FACT is that the Clinton administration ADMITTED they did not leave enough information NOR plans to deal with 9/11, and left things in such a disarray that they Bush administration could NOT prevent it.
Oh, and even in President Bush wanted to greatly increase spending on intelligence and the military (which he did), he COULD NOT until October 2001 - the first 9 months was still under the Clinton budget.
Look at the fundamental DOD spending under President Bush - up. President Clinton's "surplus" came on the back of greatly reduced military spending; great way to protect the nation, huh? Remember Gorelick's "wall of separation"? That helped out immensely, it takes time to undo the damage created by the Clinton administration.
That right there is tangible proof that President Bush addressed terrorism ONCE HE HAD CONTROL OF THE BUDGET (which changes October 1st, I'm sure you're aware of that). And had a chance to start cleaning up the crap left by the previous Administration.
Provide your links. I used the words of the Democrats themselves. Continue in your little fantasy world about "Republicans bad Democrats good!". Go ahead - you'll give editorials, opinions, and comments but no facts - those same facts you lie about supporting your positions.
So tell me - what has Ms. Pelosi done to keep her promise to lower the price of gas? Anything, anything at all? Her "commonsense" plan - it was a lie, bald-faced at that. Plain out lie about what the Democrats wanted to do. All talk, nothing happening. They control Congress, where are the bills? Where are the plans? Where are the votes? Nothing but lie lie lie and delay delay delay for two YEARS.
President Bush rescinded the executive order banning offshore drilling - now let's see the Democrats go ahead and allow offshore drilling so we can start tapping our own resources.
Or will the Democrat Congress maintain all bans, eliminate all production, and keep the US economy sinking all for their own political agendas?
Every gallon you buy: $1 for taxes, and $1.50 because the Democrats refuse to let us access our own resources. Gas should be under $1.50 a gallon, but the Democrats don't want that. They'll step on the little man to keep their power. It's not about improving the world, but improving the stacks of cash they have...

The collapse of our financial system, dollar, and banks, is all the Democrats fault?
Good intentions and unintended consequences...will liberals ever learn? Will the morons that keep electing them?
"The sub-prime mortgage collapse is another tale of unintended consequences. The crisis has its roots in the Community Reinvestment Act of 1977, a Carter-era law that purported to prevent 'redlining' --denying mortgages to black borrowers--by pressuring banks to make home loans in 'low- and moderate-income neighborhoods.' Under the act, banks were to be graded on their attentiveness to the 'credit needs' of 'predominantly minority neighborhoods.'...[T]o earn high ratings, banks were forced to make increasingly risky loans to borrowers who wouldn't qualify for a mortgage under normal standards of creditworthiness. The CRA, made even more stringent during the Clinton administration, trapped lenders in a Catch-22. 'If they comply,' wrote Loyola College economist Thomas DiLorenzo, 'they know they will have to suffer from more loan defaults. If they don't comply, they face financial penalties... which can cost a large corporation like Bank of America billions of dollars.' Banks nationwide thus ended up making more and more 'sub-prime' loans and agreeing to dangerously lax underwriting standards--no down payment, no verification of income, interest-only payment plans, weak credit history. If they tried to compensate for the higher risks they were taking by charging higher interest rates, they were accused of unfairly steering borrowers into 'predatory' loans they couldn't afford. Trapped in a no-win situation entirely of the government's making, lenders could only hope that home prices would continue to rise, staving off the inevitable collapse. But once the housing bubble burst, there was no escape. Mortgage lenders have been bankrupted, thousands of sub-prime homeowners have been foreclosed on, and countless would-be borrowers can no longer get credit. The financial fallout has hurt investors around the world. And all of it thanks to the government, which was sure it understood the credit industry better than the free market did, and confidently created the conditions that made disaster unavoidable." --Jeff Jacoby
Slow movement toward finding solutions for our energy problems, and developing alternative sources of power, and higher CAFE standards is the Democrats fault?
YES! They perptrated the global warming hoax, they perpetrated the ethanol hoax, they prevented energy exploration of any kind, they perpetrated onerous eco-regulations... and the eco-nuts that are the side show, they killed nuclear power, they demanded increased regulation and increased taxes.
Turning FEMA into the Cub Scouts is the Democrats fault?
I assume you are referring to Katrina. Did you happen to notice the difference with the floods in Iowa? What WAS the difference? It was the attitude of the people. Tregedy Katrina was filled with people who saw themselves as victims needing to be rescued. Tragedy Iowa saw themselves as capable self-reliant citizens.
Katrina has become a metaphor for many things beyond natural disaster, including governmental and individual incompetence (depending on your point of view). In Iowa there is a 500 year flood, but the people are not paralyzed, whining, or looting. There will be no massive relief effort from around the world, and nobody will step up to help Iowans except for other Iowans. Yet years from now, there will be no Iowans still in FEMA camps. The difference is not in the severity of the flood, but in the people who confront the flood.
I think that the difference is that in Iowa, the people are not relying on the government for help. They are banding together and doing something to make a difference. They need it, and will get it.In New Orleans, many of the people were conditioned to believe that the government is the only solution to fix something. Once they realized that the government couldn't fix the problem, they didn't know what to do with themselves. I find it unbelievable that two years after the hurricanes, people are still living in government trailers even though they know they are not the healthiest for them. If you don't like it, do something about it rather than wait for the next government solution to come along that won't completely fix that problem either.
I just think it's the difference in how the people view government's role in Iowa versus Louisiana.
By the way I challenge EVERY REPUBLICON'S PATRIOTISM. After what they have done to my country, it appears they hate America, and the constitution most of all.

Posted by: Das Baron Von Zippee on July 14, 2008 04:49 PMYou are living up to your namesake...:) Well done!
As far as the CAFE and energy concerns of the liar, I wonder if he sees the market taking care of the former? High MPG cars are selling VERY well. Big trucks are way down. The market will move things MUCH faster and much more effectively than Government rules ever will!
And I wonder if the liar realizes we have 280 YEARS of oil in this country. We could pump 20 million barrels of oil a day in this country - every drop we use - for 280 years, guaranteed.
And this can be done without touching ANWR, or the coastal offshore regions. On-shore sources only.
And it can be done profitably at a per-barrel cost of $40.
Realistically, gas should be down around $1.20 a gallon, and we should be a net exporter of oil. We should consume every drop we do now, and still be able to sell 10 million barrels a day on the open market, bringing in $400 million a day at that $40 per barrel price.
Considering the Federal Government gets 35% of that money, the Feds would gain $140 million per day, minimum. That would be an extra $51 BILLION annually to the treasury. And $700 billion we wouldn't spend buying other country's oil. Three quarters of a TRILLION dollar swing in our economy. That would light off our GDP like never before!
All it would take would be for Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid to pass one little bill. One bill from the Democrat controlled Congress, and we could be energy independent in 5 years, and be a massive exporter - on the order of Saudi Arabia - in 10 years. And the average consumer would save $2000 per year in fuel costs. The Government need do nothing but pass a single bill; private industry will gladly do all the work, all the effort AND pay that $140 million daily.
But no, that would not punish people enough, and can't be spun as "bad Republicans" so rather than putting the people and Nation first, the Democrat leadership will refuse to do what is right, and hope to consolidate their own power.
Oh, and Need Lies to Support My Positions? All of what I just wrote can be COMPLETELY and FACTUALLY proven, using scientifically unbiased or liberal bias sources. It's not right-wing at all; it's hard cold facts, which apparently you are not acquainted with...
