Not that it's not "smart politics", but ...

Sports Illustrated reports that Barack Obama's campaign is in talks to sponsor a race car in NASCAR's premier series next month.

1. I want the Caviar on Ritz (Low fat,no Trans-fats, low sodium) concessions...or...The Champagne (Imported of course) and Notchos, in French Brie Sauce stand...MMMMM them is good eats.

This is a perfect match for Obama...the cars only make LEFT TURNS!!!

2. Could work for him. Democrats see 200,000 fans at Daytona roaring approval of Bush in a NASCAR jacket and you can bet big money they're green with envy. They want that kind of action.

Trouble is every Democrat I know thinks that NASCAR people are two-toothed knuckle draggers and can hardly hide their scorn of them. What gaff will Obama make to them? Another problem is that BAM racing is a parental back marker who can barely finish a race. Bad for TV exposure to say the least.

This naked hard right turn program by Obama doesn't surprise me but what will his minions think about Obama's name on a stock car (eeeewwww). One of the differences I've seen between the left and right is that the left is always doing the "nudge, nudge, wink, wink" when their candidate swings right, knowing full well that he'll bank left once he gets into office. His getting caught talking about "bitter" gun owners in the heart of elitist leftism (San Fran) is a good example of W.W.N.N. Conservatives don't play that game (swing left, bank back to the right). They play the game straight-up. Good ideas need nothing more than that.

3. Going after the "bitter small-town" vote?

4. Don't watch Nascar, but will be in Elma next weekend to watch the Northwest Sprint Challenge on DIRT. One of the best and fastest 3/8ths in the Country. If you haven't ever attended...I can assure you that there will be Bitter Clingers there, in battalion strength, to welcome you and yours and you should feel right at home. They may even offer to invite you to come back with them to their double wide for a cold Bush Light or a nip o' good ol' corn and if you play your cards right, by God a peek at their still might not be outa' the realm of possibilities.

By the way, who is going to pilot the fastest pimp mobile on the planet when she knows that most of those in attendance will be clinging to their shootin' iron and bible while testifying and handling snakes.

I have been kidding up til' now, but in all honesty, I didn't know there were enough bisexual, vegan, free range, organically fed, persons of color who are also union members and card carrying members in good standing with the ACLU on the circuit available to staff and manage a Nascar pit crew.

This could be history in the making though - the first hybrid/bio-diesel beat-up Volvo wagon in Nascar history.

Now I do have one serious question: Will it be featuring the "I hate GWB" collection, the "War is Terrorism" collection or will it feature the rainbow/gay pride collection of bumper stickers?

5. Just in from NoDak, or SO Dak or where ever it is, former Rep Tom Daschel is "concerned" that Pocano may recognize a winner and that could weigh on the self esteem of the rest of the participants.

Flanked be Diane Feinstein and Nancy Pelosi he called a press conference - It seems that the trophy committee has been dealing with a foreign source to supply the trophies awarded - the two California elected officials are also demanding that only locally grown products be sold at the concessions, that all caffeinated products be "fair traded," and that tobacco products be excluded from the County.

Pocano officials have issued an official FU to this demand.

6. wow--he wants to "cling to his fast car and racing lifestyle?" what next? religion, guns and personal accountability? what's his logo going to be on the car? how about a hammer & sickle for his impending regime?

7. What about all of the carbon belching horror that comes from a NASCAR Car. Someone call the Green Police and the Thought Police. Obama must be arrested for even daring to think of putting his name on the car.

8. Anyone checking out the latest polling data? Obama's taking on water faster than the Titanic. And he is starting to make John Kerry look pretty good. Even Kerry didn't flip flop on as many issues as Obama.

The Nutroots' heads will probably explode soon as Obama reverses on just about every whacko just-left-of-Mao Progressive policy that they hold dear.

It would be pretty shrewd if they dumped Obama and went with Hillary. I think she'd beat McCain handily. But knowing the left, they'll ride this one down to the bottom of the ocean as well.

That's the great thing about Progressivism and all of their failed 19th century German philosophy. It's a discredited and dysfunctional ideology. It's all based on sand. It's guaranteed to collapse in on itself.

9. Maybe Hussein ought to actually drive the car himself. He could have the confederate battle flag painted on the roof just to show that, after all, he really is just one of the good ole' boys. No, on second thought, based on his bowling score it would probably be a disaster. The next thing you know, the black prince will pop up somewhere in a duck hunting outfit. : )

12. Juvenal-
1. You still haven't posted anything about yourself to Meet the Contributors. Hard to take what you say seriously when we don't know anything about you.

2. The clown thing is really becoming embarassingly lame for you.Try posting something thoughtful like Earling or Miller.

13. BMack, I have no clue who Juvenal is. What I DO know is the following:

Don't like his/her/their posts? Then don't read them.

I, for one, find it odd that in spite of the "embarrassing lameness" of these posts, you're still here reading them.

Who someone is means nothing about what they say. What's written stands or fails on it's own argument.

A little introspection concerning YOUR arrogance and smug superiority might be in order. And remember, reading these posts are/is entirely voluntary. Don't like them? Then move along... nothing to see here.

14. First off, I am not a clown fan...

BHO is getting too flashy for his britches. My hope that undecided voters will see through his desire to be an attention-whore, with all due respect and realize that he would be good for a traveling medicine show or being an evangelist but NOT as POTUS in 2008.

Don't be insane, vote for McCain !!

15. hinton, sound politics has been a strong force for many years now and many of us care enough to want it to remain strong because it is part of getting things right and getting the right people elected. So it's not as easy as 'if you don't like it don't read it.' I for one care enough that I don't want it to become a charicature of Republicans or conservatives. I also want it to remain thoughtful and though-leading. And I think the clown bit fails on both of those fronts.

Second, because many of us learn things here, it is important to know who the people are who write for it. They are worth listening to because they are people who have been in politics for awhile and therefore have meaningful insights, not just hack-ish parodies. Also, transparency is one of the great things about this blog. We know exactly who is writing because they use their real names and they bost their bios. Juvenal does neither...so nobody knows if when they say Greg Nickels is an idiot we should believe them becasue they know him or we should chalk it up to someone who reads the newspaper. So I think it is worth learning about Juvenal. If folks disagree, fine. And nobody is forcing Juvenal to post about him- or her-self. But it seems to be a reasonable request.

16. Juvenal is probably Ted Rall's conscience.

17. BMack, if you're so interested in transparency and knowing "exactly who is writing because they use their real names", why do you post under an obviously fake name and email address?

18. Rest assured, the real fans of Nascar remember well the smoking issue and who was behind the arm twisting of the tobacco sponsorships drying out.
I'm sure somebody out there will remember which driver was being bleeped out when he said "F___ the democrats..."
Do you think BHO, being a chain smoker, could get that money back into it?
