Ladies and Gentlemen, Your Civic-Minded Public

Depressing yet not so surprising news from a SurveyUSA poll conducted for KING 5.

1) Respondents think negative ads are starting early this year. Duh.

2) They claim they ignore such attacks. Whatevs.

3) Less than a quarter of adults are following the primary "closely." No surprise.

4) They don't have the foggiest idea of when the primary is. Oh, dear.

The numbers:

13% say August 19 (the correct answer).
13% say August 26.
33% say September 2.
41% don't know.

Granted, the poll is just adults - far removed from the more restrictive screens of registered voters, likely voters, or likely primary voters that would be much more interesting. But, still...

1. Well I have to confess I didn't know when the primary was this year but it doesn't really matter. We vote by mail here in Whatcom County so they are going to send me a ballot. I already attended the caucus and cast my vote there and I have been following all the races with interest so I am pretty much up to speed. When exactly is it? I don't really care that much since I know that I won't miss it.

3. If you took that same poll in Tacoma, the number one response would be...Dude their an election?
