Look At The Bright Side

By accepting the cash settlement for the early departure of the Sonics, Mayor Nickels will have enough money, or almost enough money, for another trolley.

(I admit to being less disturbed about the Sonics leaving than some, though I loved the team when Lenny Wilkens was coaching Jack Sikma and Gus Williams.  But the team has become much less lovable since then, at least from my point of view.)

1. Thanks Jim for the perspective...

Somehow I think it would be more useful to just toss the $45 million the city is going to receive from the settlement in in single dollar bills off the Space Needle than have it go to whatever scam the city has to fight Global Warming or whatever.

2. Actually the whole NBA is less lovable than it was in the era you mention, Jim. Arrogant owners and Commissioner, crooked referees, players who look and act like gang punks, very little playmaking and teamwork.....who needs the NBA? I was a Sonics fan from 1967 to about a decade ago...now I say let the Okie Peckerwoods deal with what the NBA has become.

3. Wasn't that when Slick Watts was playing?

4. We run the risk of an empty-suited moron being elected out next president, and you people are wasting your time and energy peeing your collective pants over a basketball team.

No wonder the fringe-left whackers think they're gonna win.

5. Professional Sports teams are not, SEATTLE Super Sonices, SEATTLE Seahawks, or SEATTLE Mariners. They are merely businesses that are temporarily situated in a particular town.
I enjoy baseball and used to enjoy football. However, when the third richest man in the world wanted me to pay for a stadium so mulitmillion dollar players could have a place to play i lost interest. If any of the teams moved it is a boon to the state. They do not "bring in revenue." They mere transfer money from the people to players.

Bye Bye Mr. Bennett's business.
