How To Bring Trouble On Yourself

Be the only U.S. Senator not to respond to questions regarding potential favorable loan treatment from Countrywide:

More than a week after Politico asked all 100 senators about the circumstances surrounding their home loans, just one -- Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) -- has failed to provide any information in response to the survey.

Public records obtained by Politico show that Cantwell has a mortgage with Countrywide Financial Corp. -- the same company that provided special VIP mortgage deals to Senate Banking Committee Chairman Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) and Sen. Kent Conrad (D-N.D.)

Given the current environment surrounding that company, the only option is disclose, disclose, disclose. Now, regardless of whether or not Cantwell received favorable treatment from Countrywide - and the initial explanation by her staff implies she did not - the appearance of a problem has been created.

1. I'm sure Canttell will be excluded in Christine Gregoire's lawsuit against Countrywide.

Canttell is sure quite since this not about Enron or Big Oil...

4. Let's see... this has been performed by Politico, NOT by an official entity. She mentioned that she received the loan through U.S. Bank, and not Countrywide. The responses of Senators Kyl and Burr were remarkably short and abrupt, and other senators did not answer many of the questions asked.

So, despite your blathering, who cares? You're failing around desperately to find *anything* to pin on Democrats. Desperation does not become you.

5. Let's wait for more info. Given Cantwell's personal behavior, it would not be surprising.

6. Hey Demo kid.

What two power DEM's who deal with banking also got (special) loans from Countrywide. Not including Obama friend.

So want to talk about them PINS again.

7. I wonder why Gregoire is going after this and not the Attorney General. During the tobacco fiasco, as AG she was all over the press. As people so affectionately say, the most dangerous place to be is between a politician and a TV camera.

Where is McKenna on this? Won't he be the one prosecuting? Ooops, my bad. He is a Republican and is running for reelection so he doesn't get face time. Or, he thinks it a bunch of hooey.

Something smells here and it just ain't Countrywide.

8. "...the appearance of a problem has been created."

Which is central to your point. Indeed, it is your entire point. When this matter has been shown to be nothing, you (a) won't admit it, and (b) will publish something else derogatory towards a liberal Democrat, one who crushed your candidate in a huge landslide last time.

I hope you enjoy the feeling of utter, hopeless desperation which compelled you to pass along this trash from the national compactor, Politico. After November, you're going to be living that feeling for a long, long time.
