Both SurveyUSA and Rasmussen Reports have new polls out on our Governor's race. Status quo ante about sums it up.
Survey USA has Gregoire up 50% - 47% (with a highly improbable 1% undecided). Rasmussen has Gregoire up 50% - 43%. Polling this far out from November remains largely unexciting absent large shifts in the race, which at this point we're not seeing.
Digging into the weeds a bit it is interesting that Rasmussen has the Governor's race tightening from a previous 11-point spread favoring Gregoire, even as the same polling shows Obama notably expanding his Evergreen State lead over John McCain.
The crosstabs of the Survey USA poll shows indications of why the Rossi-Gregoire race is competitive. Gregoire has only a small lead among younger voters, while Rossi holds an edge in voters concerned about the economy. He also holds a sizable lead among Hispanics. None of those results are consistent with the stereotype of this election year.
In other state news, SurveyUSA has Rob McKenna up 49% - 42% over John Ladenburg in the AG's race.

Posted by: Andy on June 12, 2008 09:02 AMI don't see how the DalaiBama and McCain matchups could change so drastically in head-to-head matchups so fast. Probably, as Andy said, the Ds lied when polled so McCain would win the nomination over the objections of a lot of us? Chris Vance was a great proponent of stating the "polls" tell us McCain is the best R candidate.
Posted by: swatter on June 12, 2008 09:52 AMOh and Swatter @ 4 Vance is clueless, this is the same clown that gave Rossi no chance in 04 and never gave him any money until it was to late. He wasted all the money on the Bush campaign which did not have a prayer in this state.
