More Polls

Both SurveyUSA and Rasmussen Reports have new polls out on our Governor's race. Status quo ante about sums it up.

Survey USA has Gregoire up 50% - 47% (with a highly improbable 1% undecided). Rasmussen has Gregoire up 50% - 43%. Polling this far out from November remains largely unexciting absent large shifts in the race, which at this point we're not seeing.

Digging into the weeds a bit it is interesting that Rasmussen has the Governor's race tightening from a previous 11-point spread favoring Gregoire, even as the same polling shows Obama notably expanding his Evergreen State lead over John McCain.

The crosstabs of the Survey USA poll shows indications of why the Rossi-Gregoire race is competitive. Gregoire has only a small lead among younger voters, while Rossi holds an edge in voters concerned about the economy. He also holds a sizable lead among Hispanics. None of those results are consistent with the stereotype of this election year.

In other state news, SurveyUSA has Rob McKenna up 49% - 42% over John Ladenburg in the AG's race.

1. "Polling this far out from November remains largely unexciting..."

Understatement of the year! How could a race between these two dolts ever be considered 'exciting'? LMFAO

2. ByStander, You'd better look in the mirror before you name anyone a "DOLT". You are lying to yourself if you think Rossi is one. I think you need to see that Gregoire has done nothing but tax us since her illegal election. Obviously you think Dems and Republicans are the same... you're probably a gutless "INDEPENDENT" who votes with the socialist every chance you get. Rossi is going to be the next governor inspite of the polls. So since there is a consensus that he is going to be the governer your "Independent" inclination will be to vote with the consensus. So do so.

3. What % of conservatives lie to pollsters?

When they call me I either hang up or I'm a prosecute George Bush for murder liberal.

4. Rassmussen has been having some issues of its own lately- i.e. being accused of faking results- to be considered as trustworthy as before.

I don't see how the DalaiBama and McCain matchups could change so drastically in head-to-head matchups so fast. Probably, as Andy said, the Ds lied when polled so McCain would win the nomination over the objections of a lot of us? Chris Vance was a great proponent of stating the "polls" tell us McCain is the best R candidate.

5. I think the key to this is the 19% swing in favor of Rossi amongst "unaffiliated" voters. This is a huge sign that Rossi is starting to surge and as people begin paying more attention you will see Rossi start to pull away. On another note how the hell do 50% of voters think Gregiore has done a good job? I would like to ask those people if they could name 1 of her accomplishments.... Who are these people?

Oh and Swatter @ 4 Vance is clueless, this is the same clown that gave Rossi no chance in 04 and never gave him any money until it was to late. He wasted all the money on the Bush campaign which did not have a prayer in this state.

6. Remember, the 2004 polls had Gregoire up by 10+ points in October 2004.

Anything LESS than a 10-point lead for Gregoire, at any time, is bad news for her.

7. Good news on the AG race, I'd absolutely savour seeing McKenna send that obnoxious union goon packing back to Tacoma.
