Somewhat similar to the post below, it is a pleasure to read ritualistic tales of Democrats clamoring with hope to unseat Doc Hastings. It happened in 2006, with the netroots hyped up about a similar opportunity. The outcome? Hastings won by 20% in what was clearly a Democratic year.
Meaning, Republicans probably welcome any Democratic donor willing to expend their finite contribution dollars on this race.
Posted by Eric Earling at June 02, 2008 07:56 AM | Email ThisCould it be that the Democrats have over-played their hand? The Democrats I know have been torn asunder by the Hillary-Obama thing and their real distaste for Gregoire has come out too. The national row over Michigan and Floriduh delegates has shown how the Democrats aren't the "party of the people" but of radical organizations like moveon.org and big machine politics that screws the little guy.
A month ago I'd have easily said that McCain is toast, the 21st century version of Bob Dole. But numerous Democrat campaigns are so obviously now on the wrong side of every major issue, and so heavily invested in losing the Iraq war, I now don't see how McCain could lose. (He does need to get close to Obama type money though (not the case now however). This wholesale fumbling and bumbling of Democrats will have to work down-ballot to people like Reichert and Rossi.
Donations or a game to say they are cleaning up crime?
Posted by: swatter on June 2, 2008 02:19 PMHe still is, only older. Even my good friends father, lifelong GOP member feels ashamed of his party for the reckless spending spree they went on in 2000 - 2006. Doesn't particularly like the war but tolerates it because he supports the troops. Despite all this he's an Obamacan this year because he believes the GOP needs to get their heads straitened out and and nothing reorganizes a party better than a sweeping loss.
Also, don't count out the Ron Paul nutzos to put a small 1% or 2% dent in McCain's tally. They're quite loud and organized (not to mention extremely annoying), this November McCain is going to need all the help he can get to convince his party he's the guy they want in the WH for 8 years.
At one point there were "donations to a game" I suppose if you consider trying to unduly and illegally influence election of county council members for favorable zoning voting and the like. Or at least I should note those are among the allegations being made. There is a whole host of alleged charges that will be filed against the Colacurcio family members -particularly Sr. and Jr. You can read a bit about them here
Oh and the Alfred D. Rosellini Sr. mentioned in the above thread as an "influential member" is the same guy who was once governor of Washington and has the 520 bridge named after him...in case you were wondering.
