Ron Hebron Had A Serious Bicycle Accident

You can wish him well in the comments here.  Or, even better, you can email him directly.

He has my best wishes for a complete, and rapid, recovery.

(Incidentally, I read his blog regularly and often learn something from it.)

2. As a long-time cyclist, I know the dangers, and what it feels like to go head-over-heels. Always scary. Best wishes for a speedy recovery Ron.

4. I am a Sound Politics contributor who hasn't posted in months; I am listed under "Meet the Contributors" on the main page. Thanks, Jim, for the support.

I was riding home from work in the rain on Tuesday, May 13. I was just east of Microsoft's main campus. Instead of descending in the traffic on Bel-Red Road I went down NE 30 St. which is pretty steep. I was controlling my speed - trying to - when my front wheel went right and I went left. I smashed my pelvis. The femur punched through it.

I went to Evergreen ER, then cabulance to Harborview's trauma center - first-class operation. 5 hours in surgery and 6 days at Harborview.

No weight on my left foot for 6 to 8 weeks. Then therapy and full weight after 10 to 12 weeks. That's 3 months!!

5. Well it's a good thing you didn't break your fingers, as you can still type! Or your head so you can still think (unlike a few on the other side of our spectron)

God's speed to your healing.

6. GS, didn't you find it amusing that the helmet broke but the thick head made it okay?

Seriously, one lucky guy and a very good blogger.
