Karma Strikes Congress

The atrocious farm bill has a revised and extended opportunity to be pummeled for being the bad piece of legislation that it is.

Heh.

1. "additional $30 billion would go to farmers to idle their land and to other environmental programs."

Last time I checked was there not this growing food shortage going on; yet Congress wants to increase the subsides to stop farming?

2. I understand how this could get through Congress. It's a feel-good bill, and has the support of powerful farming interest groups.

But every indication is that the public is greatly displeased with the bill. It's disappointing to me to see our Congress again vote in line with the lobbyist money, rather than in the best interests of the nation at large.

3. I talked to a farmer in Eastern Washington near CleElum recently. The land of his sitting idle is the rock outcropping that couldn't be farmed anyway- you know, chukkar hunting land.

4. This is nothing but a great big Pork Barrel farm Welfare program. Pay people for doing nothing.

If we have a world food shortage and a huge need for more ethenol, what in the H are we doing paying farmers to leave their fields unplanted.

The stupidity of this bill is beyond belief.
